@Barca,
Well, as disappointing as this is it is actually more respectable than being on the wrong side. For whatever reasons best known to you.

You are my one of my favs on NL especially on politics but the truth is:

1) Politics is a cold war or war of words and what you did was wrong especially if this move was not planned already.

2) In the intelligence community if you did not switch sides you were supposed to be reigned in for a debriefing to see if you were not compromised, which i was going to suggest earlier on or that you get to your point which is switching sides.

3) They say a rolling stone gathers no moss and your changing sides at every site of a challenge is putting your character, intention and total thinking into questioning.

4) I do think the progressive where too hard on you at the beginning but as Cleverly has mentioned maybe they are privy to some information not accessible to the rest of NL.

5) Hope you are switching for something you truly believe and and can stand and even die for. For what will a man gain by not standing up to something he truly believes in than going with wind.

6) I wish you all the best in your new found conviction just hope you are not being used and will be treated as non trustworthy being at your new home. You must also acknowledge that if it were someone else acting the same way like your ex-fellow progressives and having heard that 20billion is out the to buy support you would have thought the same.

7) Something for sure we will be reading some issue based Pro-jonathan arguments or an attempt there off than what has been available so far.

I hope people are civil enough to let you practice your human right in peace and close this matter.

All the best Barca! kiss

Oga, go if you want to go.

I'm not keen on people that get swayed to and fro like palm fronds.

If you stand for somthing, you won't keep falling left and right.
So Kwankwaso, Rochas, Amaechi, and the rest did not stand for something that I was why they swayed. Interesting

Curlieweed:
OP,

This post doesn't do a whole lot for your credibility. You can't keep changing your mind every day and expect people to take you seriously. It's naive to expect intelligent people to take you seriously for quitting the "progressive" movement because of a tiff with Gbawe. Is Gbawe the arbiter of "progressivism"?

Again, this incident is symptomatic of a key problem with the Nigerian political culture, namely a dearth of ideology and an excessive reliance on personality cults.

Thank you very much for these your words.....
Am sure he is only recreating the Nigerian politicians who switch from one party to another....

Anyway, it's your world and we have different reasons for association and ideology....
Seems your ideology to shift grounds doesn't show to me that you are a man that stand for something and stand for that thing till the end

Good luck on your new path, I never knew that some few people response could make you change your stance and belief

The biggest problem for you people in that country is how much you let Political parties decide literary everything. From who they nominate to who they appoint as ministers or whatever. One can say the same happens in America but at least Americans care about their people and dont just steal public funds and get away with it.

Remember that from the level of LGA Chairman there's a certain amount of responsiblity to all public offices but do you people ever complain about those ? Just how much do you think ALL LGA chairmen in Nigeria have stolen combined over the last 10 years? not to mention the Reps and Senators with their inflated pays.

Honestly i don't think Buhari can fight corruption that easily especially when corrupt officials are his check and balance in the National Assembly but at least we can start somewhere i guess.

If you Progressives want to be better than pro PDP guys (whom are outright ridiculously stupid for even supporting PDP as a party after all they've done) you MUST learn to stop excessively defending and supporting everyone in APC.
What would you people do if you didnt have a Fashola/Kwankwaso/Ameachi or any other Governor that actually does good in their states? And you know two of those were previously in the PDP huh? Kwankwaso has always been a PDP man and yet he was elected in Kano (a state that hates PDP) simply because they grew up beyond party worship and chose a man that they knew will benefit their state as an individual. The fact is anything that any politician in Nigeria does that even remotely qualifies as progress is an Individual effort because last time i checked Nigerian Political parties have absolutely no stance on Issues or Policies or anything at all, Have they even reached that level anyway when they both cant fucking get a reasonable level of infrastructure going in most of their states talk more of Health Care policies, Job creation plans, Women empowerment policies etc.

barcanista:
1. Switching of Candidate/Party:
I have never been a card-carrying member of any political party. Never! I supported GEJ after he won the PDP ticket in 2011 and thumb-printed for him during the election. As at then, I never really believed in him but was only hopeful, I never believed in GMB either.
During the Stella Oduah saga I was cheer leading for her head because I wanted a better Nigeria-though was still a GEJ fan. I also pledged to campaign against GEJ should the matter be swept. I kept to my word, I was never antagonised by pro-PDP.
July 2014 I was still critical but wanted a #Change to better my life and our lives as Nigerians. I took the APC serious and declared support. Yet I never registered membership. I had supported Kwankwaso because of his deeds in Kano not because I like his name. I never liked GMB as at then because I never believed in him. I created a thread against him but a friend/brother told me to research on him independent of propaganda. I did, and I became is biggest fan. I inherited his NL image management without anybody's contact or soliciting. I never switched to GMB because I didn't believe in Kwankwaso anymore, I did because he was never in the ruling party and he's assertive. Throughout this period, I've never allowed my political bias affect my personal relationship with people. Firefire, Truckpusher and even Donphilopus can bear testimony except they feel otherwise.

2. My Loss For Buhari
As a proud Ijaw supporting Buhari to the bones, I fell out with my brothers and neighbours that interpreted my action to be treachery against the Ijaw aspiration. So many times I do explain to those that grants me audience, and always hopeful the rest understand. I've got threat messages (which prompted me to cry to 8 members of NL "progressive"wink. I had to take down my facebook page and twitter handle. Just of recent I reactivated my twitter. I went through all these because I thought I had backups.

3. Antagonism By NL e-APC
I usually realise that I get tactically attacked by NL APC each time I opined a dissenting view. Some tag it people pleasing, some tag it popularity seeking, some assumed I'm a mole and opportunist. First, I can't be a mole because I don't have APC card neither do we have any APC secret meeting that we hold. I neither leaked any private conversation I have with APC member to anyone in pro-PDP. I challenge anyone to refute this. Secondly, due to my upbringing, I have never been an "opportunist" or popularity seeking. I move as I'm convinced and defy odds. If I ere I retrace, if I'm convinced I'm on the right I hold on. That's me. It is unfortunate that the same people that I think are with me wouldn't want me to speak my mind or rather wants absolute conformity or cult following. The unwarranted insults and denigration of my personality was not a shock but disappointing. The new story is that I am influenced by a lady. Very disjointed assumption

5. Leaving Their Camp:
The support shown by the pro-PDP camp and a section of pro-GMB camp coupled with other factors seriously made me to reconsider my continuous stay in the "progressive" camp. Brotherhood should not be define by just political affiliation, mutual respect and understanding even in disagreement should supersede. Secondly, I see no moral standing in remaining where you are told yoi aren't wanted.

6. Going Against The APC
As said earlier, my support for Buhari is not premised on blind followership. I believe in his ability to lead Nigeria to greatness but I don't believe in his political party men with respect to sincerity and the antecedents of some of them. With the outburst against me on this platform, it begs for lots of question. I henceforth resign my membership as "Nairaland Progressive".

7. My Commitment To My New Found Love and Smear Campaign:
I recognise the smear campaign against my person but I will not be moved because they are all driven by emotions and not facts. I hope however that it doesn't affect the relationship I have with some friends. The Goodluck Jonathan's government that I've been very critical of may not be the best, but the fact that I enjoy the freedom to criticise his policies without receiving so much hatred from his supporters and even earned their respect in disagreement shows that there is hope as against the "progressive" camp. Democracy is built on freedom, especially freedom to air our views without fear or favor. Absence of this makes whatever we do or assume a hogwash.
Henceforth, I shall be critical of the APC and all those big wigs that goes about with broom shouting #Change when their own house is on fire. My criticism will no longer be one sided any longer. He that is to come to equity must come with clean hands. I will support publicly good policies of Jonathan's administration and criticise when necessary. Ditto APC

Finally, I apologise sincerely to all those that may feel let down by my decision. I apologise to those that will unfollow me after reading this, but my sincerity in this is absolute. My happiness is important, and a better Nigeria built on sincerity, acceptance and understanding is paramount. Progressiveness is not when someone shouts change, progressiveness is when someone lead a life of #Change.

I appreciate Aanumama, ibnsultaan, dein77, Jmaine, firefire, jaybee and all those that supported me one way or the other during my trying times. I owe you all sincere gratitude.

God Bless Us All
Nigeria Shall Be Great

@barcanista I have always taken you as someone with informed and determined opinion that has a pride in a course he is so cut out for.

You mean you are pained by an argument with gbawe or others and that have affected your judgement on a course you so much believe in.

Is gbawe or any other person you had the argument with representing Buhari that is the contestant. I read your opinion that was pushed to the FrontPage by a mod who actually achieved his aim.

Reuben Abati has given a press statement stating Obasanjo wanted to head the Interim National Government that you called a PROPAGANDA, what is known to you is more than what is happening in the corridors of power. If The Presidency have come out to say someone wanted to head the ING don't you now belief there was a plan and arrangement for it.

You're free to do whatever rocks your boat, no one pays any one to support anybody on NL.

Goodluck in your new found course, wish you the best but saying what happened earlier was your excuse smack of someone who really was looking for an excuse because Buhari is the crux of the campaign not Gbawe or anyother person on NL.

Whatever rocks your boat bro, shalom

Barcanista bobo...that's your stand!

Now My Take!

As far as am concerned, today has witnessed two IMPORTANT event worth mentioning!

First, Obasanjo tore his membership of a party on whose platform he rose to become President of Nigeria simply because of a common disagreement! Barca bobo, do you know of any world leader today that will go to such an extent of publicly shredding the membership of a party who he once rode to power for 2 years? Remember he accused GEJ of anti-party activities. But of late, he has been seen to court and sleep with the opposition. Nobody, with such exposure does that. That's to tell you the mindset, thinking pattern and thought process of those you call your friend.

Secondly, you Barcanista left the retrogressive fold and joined the real progressive group with the interest of Nigerians at heart. The leader of this democratic, all-embracing, party is no other person than Goodluck Jonathan. I assure you that you'll be treated like a MEMBER of this party! You're welcome indeed.

I remember during the march for nPDP. Governors Mu'azu and Sule Lamido were amongst the 'aggrieved' who felt short changed and needed their grouse to be sorted. Even at the heat of it all, because they had the interest of the party at heart and knew what it means to be a member of a family, because they had contributed their time and resources to build a party, because they have actually committed themselves to the growth and development of the party and wouldn't see it just collapse, they stayed on trusting the processes and mechanisms for true reconciliation. At the end it paid off!

How about the others, Amaechi of Rivers State was for 8 years the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and rode on the party platform to become Governor even when the same Obasanjo tried to stop him from contesting using his own cousin. Today he has bitten the hands of the feather that fed him.

What about Wammakko of Sokoto? And in Kwara State, and that disgraced old man of Adanmawa State, Nyako?

All these men by defecting have shown their true colour. For daring to speak your mind, you were used as a test case. Like I said before, keep your friends close and your ENEMIES CLOSER!

I love the bolded part and I challenge the @OP to disagree with. Btw, how much did your ijaw brothers give you because I know they pay in dollars ?

Another Cramjones on the loose.
"My stand". Why not "My take"?
Writing useless autobiographies nobody cares about, and signing it off with their names. Talk about self esteem issues.
I guess it's an APC thing.

When this clown was dining with the so-called progressives, leading the way and getting torn to shreds by Datolee while they stood by like cowards and watched on in horror, they called him their hero.
When the same buffoon was attacking his fellow Southerners and making a complete bum of himself just for Buhari, he was an agent of Change.
When he threw himself infont of a train the day he killed his own credibility by defending that video about Buhari excusing press oppression, he was a beacon of light and a symbol of progress.

But today, he is a TANoid, a fool, an attention seeker and a self-serving brown-noser currently about to face the gallows at the hands of his strange bed-fellows. Oh noes! He ain't progressive no more.
This reminds me of that fictional story about that guy who funded military coups only to get served in the end when his election was annulled by the same military. Uh-oh, wait, that story wasn't fictional after all!

Barcanista is now a bat - Rejected by the mammals and rejected by the birds.
No my friend, he is not a bat. you do not reject a repentant son not so when a frontline warrior from an opposition declares for you without reservation.

I think you should welcome him. His changing camp shows that your effort is yielding dividend and a mega dividend at that. Come on smile and hug a brother wink

I beg to disagree sir. In politics there's what is called loyalty to the party and failure to do so usually leads to anti party.

You think a politician who knows what he's doing will come out publicly to ridicule his party without been talked to except you're an OBJ.

Or why do you think people who're less superior to obj has the guts to slam him for anti party.

If barcanista has any thing tangible against his party, there are better ways to so, coming out publicly to degrade a party he so much loved was and will still remain his greatest undoing.

Like I always said the way and manner a party deals with dissenting opinion from its members tells a lot about the level of maturity of the political party.

The way you guys handled this is inhumane, classless and distasteful. No matter how you want to put it their are better matured ways to handle anti party activity than to retort the childish display you all put up today.
