Babe, You got it. Ogunbiyi street is messed up. During the dry season, dust disturbs us, during the rainy season, we cant go out. Where is yoyr Folk's street. I even thought it was only Ogunbiyi that they recently poured Red sand. I guess they want to use that to win our votes, but i doubt if that will work. Everyone is Bitter, very bitter.

My folks stay off ogunbiyi street, they are not yet bitter jare. in 2011 as a broke ass returned graduate we all decided to vote for a change of government but the youths collected cash and refused to vote. APC guys came a day before and promised to fix ogunbiyi, four years after the road is still the same.

I know that street very well.It has always been like that whenever it rains.all the houses, shops in that area on the ground floorwould be flooded.

Problem starts with council ppl. When they come to clear the storm trenches, they go back to residents and ask them to pay for packing the excavated waste. The rubbish woukld be left by the edges of the trenches until wind and rain blows them back to the very same trences. Then they get paid again and again to clean and leave by the roadside.
The whole cycle revolves over and over and over.I believe that street is under Alimosho Council.

That road belongs to the local govt, so my advice is for you not to vote in the current chairman.. if possible his party at the local level.

Any unperforming civil servant (politician) must be voted out at all levels.

it is good to note that citizens in lagos now expect their streets to be tarred.this is one of the reasons to keep voting in progressives.a few years ago,who would have been talking about ogunbiyi street not been tarred?but in a case where other state governors keep bragging about inter city or main roads, the lagos state governor made his second term about innercity roads and he has kept to that.i visited many areas in akowonjo recently and i could noticde the difference from miccom to bakery to baale to vulcanizer to even jimoh.streets are now been tarred.we have to admit that it cant all be done within 4years,but ambode has pledged to continue from where fashola stopped.which is why i'd rather vote the continuity that will certainly tar my street very soon than vote a new experiment because my street hasnt been tarred.

Mr man!!! I do not agree with your above statements, Ogunbiyi street has been contracted out 5TIMES IN 20YEARS ( The records are at the Local Government) and it has never been done. I am not talking about APC & PDP, I am screaming accountability, we should all ask for that in any prevailing government, that is the only way they will buckle up. I am just so sad that it took us 4years for all the youths in Akowonjo to do this. YOu keep refering to Jimoh, that road is always patched off whenever election is round the corner, that was what they did last 4years.

Victoria street is tarred, the road opposite Victoria street was also tarred but has damaged to some length. its a lie that the streets around jimoh bustop is not tarred..

The inners road off JImoh Street is not tarred, the major street cant remember the name(1st turning on JImoh is almost destroyed), the 2nd Turning was just fixed and that was recently after then the road that leads to Go ye is almost destroyed unless they have fixed it. Roads inside akinwowo etc etc off Eko INternational School is rubbish( Sobo), Bester (OH Lord Dont go there).

Dear all,

The flooding is a major issue to businesses and homes in that area. most have been sacked; the houses right on the road (about 2-3 with shops) are no longer in use now.
- truly at the Jimoh point; the road is quite narrow especially going to roundabout (not going to egbeda)
- also, the drainage is quite small.
- this point is like a depression; if you notice; coming from Cele-Sobo bus stops water flows down to egbeda; vulcaniser bus stop & Kwara bus stop are both raised and this is in between them so needed a massive drainage to handle all the water channeled into it; unfortunately the drainage in this part is quite narrow.
Government did tried clearing the drainage but the measures are really half hearted; major works needed to be done and there should be a connecting drainage at that point that will channel water from one side to the other depending on which level is higher. you are noticing this much because the divider/road median acts more like a blockage/barrier to the water aside from the topography.
Finally; we the people do not help ourselves; that PET bottles/sachets are dumped indiscriminately is very true in that area. just go there when it is raining and see people deliberately doing it. when you now add the ones coming from Sobo bus stop to it and given that there are several silts blocking the free flow at this point; the end result is what we are looking at.
I am not an engineer but I believe a lasting solution will affect a couple of properties at the very least aside from reconfiguration of the road at that point.
The government did a good job at lawal/yekini lawal area; good roads with street light with good drainage but the drainages are now blocked leading to flooding in some areas too. these are covered drainages that people deliberately opened the slabs to facilitate easy disposal of wastes.
Government need to rise to the occasion for the Jimoh issue; its been a recurrent one while the communities (and the communities in that area are quite organised) needs to caution each other on environmental maintenance.
Thank you.

After Jimoh bus top to sobo are a mess... ( the inner roads) , I dont know what these areas did to the local government authorities.

Funny enough, only jimoh and miccom gets flooded and these 2 bustops have tarred inner streets, Kwara to sobo are not tarred, yet don't flood. something sounds weird.

if indeed the road has been awarded five times and it wasnt constructed, then you as a citizen can petition the state government or petition the five contractors.if you cant do that, then use the same avenue via which you found ot its been contracted five times to get the names of the contractors.you can simply list those names here and concerned people like me will work on it

Fashola is governor of the rich and enemy of poor masses
He only developed the cities, V/I, Lekki, Ikoyi, etc and left inner Lagos unattended to
It is unfair and hypocritical. Ayobo-Ipaja road is not completed, Baruwa, is bad, Ishefun road is worse
Inner parts of Lagos is suffering so much infrastructural decadence.
