Don't mind all these agents, all na scam. I bought my ticket with flexi option that is meant to give me one free date change through travelstart and something came up that made me consider rescheduling. I sent them a mail to inform them only for me to first get a quote of 125k to reschedule and another mail where they apologised that they just confirmed that I bought a flexi ticket and another quote of 75k..........wish I didn't pay the extra 15k for flexi would have paid a cheaper amount for the ticket because to me I wouldn't pay as much as 75k to change date sha.

So it's best to relate with the airline directly because there's just a penalty of $125 to $150 for date change. Haba!

wakanow is asking me for 157k to change date of a ticket a bought with them in February, in my life I will never book through agents, I called the airline directly and I was told they couldn't do any change and only the agent can effect the changes.

I am not an agent but permit me to share my experience here. I wanted to change date on my ticket and was told to pay 165k for the date change, I called the airline and was told they couldn't change, after creating scene at their office, one of their superior called me andd explained what happened. It was united airline- he said I booked L-class called Lima, one of their cheapest seats, and this seat is not available for my intended date change so they will need to upgrade to higher class which is somehow their economy comfort. At last he gave me 3 alternatives
1. Pay 165k to change date of 230k ticket- lailai. I no fit
2. Cancel the ticket, get a refund which will be around 180k-200k and add money to purchase another ticket- sounds very reasonable- but the money will be refunded 3-4wks afta.
3. Let them check for the dates my L class will be available and I pay 160$.

Na so I waka leave d place and adhere strictly to the one week extra I needed to stay ooo.

Sorry- Conclusion- Most times, it might not be the agent's fault. Though some, when they know you have entered one chance and no way out, they tend to extort you.

I guess I might have to create a scene too because I have a 24hour stop over that I didn't even check before booking it, I totally forgot to check flight duration because I thought it was the regular stop over hour, I just decided to check the itinerary and I saw the mistake I made, it will be so uncomfortable for me to stay at the airport for 24 hours with my tummy and my immediate younger sister that behaves like a baby, I emailed the office but they said I have through agent, wakanow resent the 157k email to me putting in bracket (as of now), see the yeye clause, which means it might go up again.

To process your baby's papers; I filled a form for the birth certificate and Social security number at the hospital after delivery.

Tnx @ MarylandMama. I hope to see more update about the visa.

What are you flying? Some airlines provide accomodation for such stopover durations (eg Ethiopian)
Alternatively, some airports have hotels within such as Dubai, Istanbul where you can chill for the whole 24hours, at least less than N157k!
So let us know, let's see how we can solve this situation

Rep ke? I did not speak to any rep o. I called the number tVegas posted. The number is even on the internet, its an automated response. After you follow the instructions it give you the next available date.. And when u accept it, it gives you an appointment number. I travel april6. Its 4 weeks that I was told not 14 days. Chect tvegas post for the number

If you are travelling by April6,I ll advise you to use an agent to process the visa cos it can take long if u process it urself. But if you have a credit/Debit card that bears the same surname with the applicant's name, it's faster cos the Nig embassy won't accept otherwise on dre payment page and that ll leave you with an option of buying a money order n then mailing it to them. Then, u wait for them to receive the posted money order n then confirm to you they ve received it before you can now print out the receipts and mail them with other application docs. Make sure u pay for expedited service or they ll just leave ur application untreated for long.

Hi,

I'm a silent reader who used NL info to get to the US (Houston) and have my baby. Baby is a month old and I'm leaving this weekend.

Call the agency again and tell them you need to get a visa for your baby's trip to Nigeria and that their rule says "within four weeks of your departure date if you need to apply for a visa".

Better still, just use the automated scheduling number. It has less drama and i used it. Check for it on-line.

good luck.

Thanks. I was able to sort it out after my post. *smile* I was able to get appointment for Tuesday next week. Pls where was your consent form notarized ( US embassy in Naija or by a Notary public) and did you pay with money order of $165 or cash. Thanks

Etihad airways o, I might have to visit their office in Lagos to find out if they provide accommodation at their airport, if they provide that and charge about $50-80 for the hotel it's better for me than to pay 157k to wakanow for changing dates

Change of date itself is not expensive, it's the difference in fare that is. If you buy L ticket on 1 Jan, want to change the date of travel to 1 Feb, and the same L seat is not available...you will have to pay for the difference in fare i.e the extra cost for a different class of seat.

Thus also happens when your initial date of travel is in low season, but now want to change to a date in high season.

The agent is not ripping you off.

Thanks Bold babe. I appreciate ur response. I will inform him to go after am dere. But I will like to let u knw that as for now, I do not have any hospital correspondence until I get to maryland inorder to meet with the doctor personally and probably I can scan copies of documents to him to take to the embassy and Godswilling-he will be given. Thanks Nairalanders.
boldbabe:

My husband was given his visa after two denials. He reapplied the third time when i was preggy and was already in the states and was given. He went with all my hospital correspondences, marriage certificate, change of name e.t.c and was just asked his reason for travelling and he mentioned, it was to assist his wife for childbirth. They asked him the name of his wife and he mentioned it, the VO requested for evidence that we are married becuase my passport was in my maiden name, he showed the marriage certificate and change of name, he was asked what he does for a living and he answered. His visa was approved.

Just Pm if interested. Waiting to head home. It's been a fantastic experience.
To those on a budget n don't need drama with friends n relatives cos of overlong stay my advice , after you enter Yankee Omo head to Phoenix go use MIHS stay small then head back to wherever ... Without any reservations they are just a fantastic bunch.

What annoys me most is that their customer service(wakanow) is not 24/7. It's especially frustrating when you are in another country and need to reschedule. Calling them is expensive, mails are not immediately responded to.

So happy to hear IBADAN, still searching for compression socks though I have resolved to buy in lagos. As for suitcases- never bought one in Naija before but you can check shoprite and it's mall. Better still, if you have one you can manage then buy overthere.
