My people! A question has been on my mind o! Would the child born in US be entitled to medical insurance? And would it affect the Parents' subsequent visas?

If what you are asking is,can the mother use medical aid to pay for the bills? The answer is a capital no,and yes if she collects med aid it would affect her chance of getting her visa renewed,in fact she is most likely not going to get her visa renewed if she does.

[font=Lucida Sans Unicode]Thank you deres5.I know about the danger of the mom using medicaid. I am actually asking of the eligibility of the baby to use medical insurance for example NICU etc.

Both you and your baby are not entitled to medicaid, however, you can apply for a 6 month pay off of your accrued bills from the NICU. When you guys come back, find a means of offsetting your bills from Nigeria. All the best!

The answer is NO! If you (mother + father) are foreigners (as in NON US Citizens - not even all US citizens qualify for Medicaid, depends on several factors), your child should not receive medicaid.

If you ever get called for a US visa interview after your baby is born. They will want to see both your receipts and baby receipts.
If you cannot provide it, in majority of cases, you will be refused.

And please bear in mind, it is VERY difficult to repay Medicaid once accepted. Some people tried for over a year before they could find a way. Others cant and therefore cannot visit the US.

Some fussy border officers also ask for zero balance receipts so even if you have a long term visa, you can be turned back on that account.

Not to be preachy but logically why should one benefit from a system which we have not invested in. A foreigner has not paid US taxes, baby has never paid US taxes so why should we want to receive benefits for hard working tax paying citizens.

So sista, do not accept Medicaid. No one prays for NICU but if it happens, ask for a payment plan, negotiate a discount and start paying.

Hello people,

Live from denver colorado now with delta airlines. though I left with air France from Nigeria. It was favour galore all the way. from checking in to immigration et all. God was faithful. Even at the connecting flight point in Paris. Although a bit of questioning like what is your purpose of visiting the US which I answered and the lady turned to say something in high level french to her partner and later asked me to follow her. She also asked how far am gone and if I have my medications with me. I answered yes and showed. afterwards she took me to the sky priority queue and I was checked in to board.

My POE was New York JFk and God took control. in fact it was oversmooth.

CBP officer; Good day ma
me: Good sir
CBP Officer: what is the purpose of your visit and how long do you plan to stay
me: childbirth and vacation, 2months
CBP Officer: what do you do in Nigeria
I told him
CBP Officer:when was the last time you visited US
I told him
CBP Officer;how long did you stay
I answered.
CBP Officer; how much do you have with you
me: 8000USD
asked me to put my fingers and stamped me till sept 2015. It was all.like 3mins o.
was so excited because I had last minute scare from my doctor. I was unable to get personalised letter from.the doctor. I guess because the denver peeps are not familiar with people coming in to birth from naija. what I had was mail correspondence between me and the financial counselor for the hospital and she also said when I come. I also had my letter of intent and my Nigeria doctors were like I should make sure I get something from the doctors which I could not get although I had the package cost I got from the hospital and the lady helped me doctors cost too. but eventually my burden of proof file didn't leave my bag.

I thank.everyone because it was the confidence I gained on the forum that helped me overcome my last minute scare.

Thanks to Tvegas and PrinceAdeAde for their help with the letter of intent.

I uses the one from the embassy. I think naniakay used the one from a court, but just to be on the safe side, use the embassy own. And dont go along with it. They won't collect it. It has to be after the baby is born. And the signature bof the notary must be d sane as Ur hubbys own. Intact they check the dates at the passport office.

I think emirates is the most comfortable airline. Same with Etihad and Qatar.
The worst is Virgin Altantic, no leg room esp if God blessed you with height.

What is your destination?

If we dont, it will keep rising o, I am not affected as I already paid my 800, and this is probably my last bus stop. (Aka we dai close our shop , we no do again) but others are coming in behind us , let's not allow them use us.
