Anyone cares to tell me the difference between a Freethinker and an Atheist? Aren't they literary the same thing, or perhaps an atheist can also be a freethinker? Explain in your own understanding.... I believe these two terms are used wrongly.

Freethinkers are those who enquire, research and apply the use of scientific inquiry and logic.

Atheism simply put it disbelief in any god/deities.

I would add that an atheist who is open to the possibility, however slim, that scientific evidence could prove the existence of god, would also be a freethinker.

You!
Who is the first person to use your moniker?
Me!

Never make assumptions without prove. So prove your claims! What is special about Tb Joshua? Every smart person can set a few stage magic to deceive gullible people. And when the magic stops, he advances to publicity stunts. For instance, Joshua saying a prominent Nigerian politician would die is nothing. It is just a wise guess of natural events. This country has so many old politicians who would certainly die one day and the chance that at least one of them would die in year is very high. Why didn't he predict the collapse building in his church?
Here is my own prediction: as you read this message, someone is going to die in the world.

Okk, testimony time!

Our dispatch rider at office had an accident with his dispatch bike. He tore his face, elbow and heels and was stitched up.
The irony was that no one in the office had empathy on him. You know why? The guy had this 'ugly' habit of turning every conversation to 'God of chosen' talk. During the weekly safety meetings, after all discussions, he will take the stage and tell us all that all safety discussion are useless unless we have 'God of chosen'. That the 'God of chosen' is the only one that guarantees safety and with HIM, nothing will happen to anyone.

Yesterday, he met me at the staff canteen during break and started complaining bitterly that none of us called him to console him or ask how he was faring since after the accident. Well, I didn't know why no one had called him; he wasn't my buddy at work so I don't know why he was expecting me to call him so I didn't feel guilty at all.

I gave him an ear because I sensed he needed a listening ear. He talked for long, how the accident was the work of the devil, how 'God of chosen' saved him; how he rolled on the floor and was close to falling over the bridge into a swamp when 'God of chosen' held him and dragged him back...bla bla...bla...

I asked him why the 'God of chosen' didn't prevent the accident from happening in the first place. This is the second time this guy is crashing our dispatch byke and management is already considering terminating his job.
Then he gave me the most irritating answer I've ever had; that God had to allow it happen so that He will save him so that he will testify to the church about how God saved him.

You need to see the excitement on this dude's face as he said the above trash.
I wish he was educated so I can talk sense into him. It was even difficult having a 15 minute conversation with him without getting pissed.

At the end of the conversation, I realized the kind of brainwashing and negative indoctrination that has taken over this man's mind! Same way religion has corroded most people's sense of reasoning. How can someone be excited that he had an accident and God saved him! Damn! Even we humans know that prevention is better than cure. Then thinking about being used as a pawn by a God so that I will testify of his miracles!!!

Ridiculous.

Either the universe (ie totality of existence) has a beginning or it just always existed. So which one do you believe atheists?

No one has to believe either for the case to be different....If I believed before hand that Jonathan would be re-elected would that magically have made it so?

True, and i have not said otherwise. I am simply asking the resident atheists which one they believe. What is your opinion?

Well...as far as anyone can tell the observable universe can be tracked to a 14 billion year cosmic evolution.

If you study cosmology and/or the Big Bang, you'll know it was the 'birth' of space, matter and time. Since humans cannot fathom the concept of 'before time', and everything we know(the universe) exists within time, it's safe to say it has always existed.

Origin is not the term I'd use considering the term refers to locations and events which apparently did not always exist.

So then you are saying existence has a beginning. Ie there was a time when there was "nothing" and then suddenly there was something?

No, there's no known time when a philosophical nothing was ever the state of everything....I was referring to everything not always being at one single state..

I am not disputing the bolded but i struggle to follow how you reached this conclusion based on your premise.
So because we cannot comprehend pre-big bang therefore the universe always existed?
There are lots of theories speculating about before the big bang.

My premise was that the Big Bang is the origin of time itself so there can't be a 'before the Big Bang' in the conventional sense. However, physicists can theorize conditions from the very first moments. Also, with knowledge gained from quantum physics, they could also in a way hypothesize and describe mathematically pre-BB conditions but without the dimension, time.

If you understand and accept the emboldened, we should be on the same page

Not in the sense that we know of...for example there wasn't always galaxies, stars and the elements..so you can't say they(since their a part of the universe) always existed... undecided

Yes I accept the bold and that is why I italicized the word before. Its a bit of a mindbender.
At the same time I am open to theories such as mutliverse or big bounce theory (where the universe expands and collapses eternally) which suggest that there are multiple phases of time.
