I think people with good career background is also a plus, remember they gave provisions on the DS-160 form to fill in your employment history. I remember filling that part with my three last jobs and giving clear details of my functions during those years. I have this theory that the VOs actually scheme through submitted forms a day prior to the interview date. Hence, they would normally have made up their minds on whose to approve and not to.

I have been with my current company for almost 10 years and had worked for a chartered accountant firm. i earn over 150k and yet they didn't give me visa.
I think it because they chose to give whoever they like or maybe because i said i have a brother in US.
Na them sabi sha

Eeyah. Sorry about your denial.

Apart from your career history and all, what are your other ties to home? Travel history? Wife? Kids? Is your brother in the US a citizen? Did he file an immigrant visa for you that's still pending? It could be one of these.

Just dust yourself up and think of the next step, inugo?

Please someone help. My sister just moved to the USA to join her fiance. They've done their registry marriage. Their white wedding has been fixed for January next year. What are the chances that my parents and I will be given a visa to attend. I just started working and my Parents' financial status isn't strong even though they stay in their own house. Her husband's family intends to sponsor us all. I'll appreciate your kind answers.
The answer to that question will depend on how your sister went to the US to join her fiancee...
Also each of you will be considered individually. Your parents assets cannot count in your favour. So do a self assesment of yourself with regards to your age, marital status, travel history and of course your work and sister's history

Ok. So here's my transcript
Vo: Good afternoon
Me: Good afternoon
Vo: Can I have your passport
Vo: So why are you going to the Us?
Me:To spend a two week holiday with my cousin and his family
Vo:Where?
Me: Florence, Kentucky
Vo:So what do you do?
Me:I'm a civil servant I work for Bleep
Vo:What do you do for them
Me:Bleep
Vo:So how much do you earn for doing that for them
Me: Bleep
Vo: light frown (probably because its nt up to 100k)
So are you married
Me:Not yet, next year hopefully
Vo:Are your parents in nigeria?
Me:Yes, my siblings too
Vo:But your cousin is in the US
Me: Yes
Vo: So your salary is it minus your allowances
Me: No, its inclusive
Vo: So how long have you been with your office
Me: 4 years
Vo: Did you go to school before you got the job
Me: Yes I did, you cant be a civil servant without being a graduate (didn't know when it came out)
Vo: laughs and rolls eyes,( obviously noting he asked a stupid question ) So what school did you attend?
Me: Bleep university here in Nigeria
Vo kept pretending to be tying on his computer, fingers were moving but he wasn't pressing the keys, I kept smiling and looking directly at him, very composed
Vo: who is funding your trip
Me: I am. Ive saved up some money
Vo: So how much do you have for your trip?
Me: well, since im not spending anything on accommodation and feeding, I have budgeted $2500 since its just a two_week holiday
Vo:Have you ever travelled outside the country?
Me: Yes, thrice to uk and once to China
Vo: its not here is it in your old passport? Can I see? (I hand over the passport) oh you have a valid UK visa
Me: Yes, I do

Vo: ok ma'am, your visa has been approved, you can collect in 10 days

Let it be noted that it was my confidence that got me the visa. I wasn't asked for any document.I answered truthfully, didn't fidget, maintained eye contact even when talking in the speaker, smiled throughout (not sheepishly though) and most of all favour from the most high #JehovaOverDo

Just a nice jacket and trousers. Just so you know, I'm a lady not a man. I wouldn't say the dressing matters much because they cant see all you have on from where they are standing. It's good to dress nice always sha , not only when you have an interview wink btw,the ehugs are well received and returned

I will first of all thank this thread for the advice and instructions I got before going to the US embassy. They consular officer granted me the visa but for a week now my passport is still at the embassy. I even tracked it online at http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-passportretrieve.asp . Is there any advise I can get concerning this? Thank you all.

Dear Chuks, you are not alone in this. The US Consulate is having issues with their computers worldwide. So they are having delays printing visas and all... They issued a statement on this earlier.
So chill, they will let you know when it's ready. Mine is still at the Embassy for a week now, so worry not!

Re: Usa Visit Visa by Dyke004(m): 11:45am On Jun 16, 2015
My people, Abeg I wan ask this question again.
My wife and daughter had applied to go for a conference from July 2 to 11 in San Antiono but one thing led to another and their appointment which was suppose to be on 9th June was cancelled by us not embassy.
Now because we couldn't get a date in June for the interview, we have decided they go for vacation instead of the conference since we don't want to lose the visa fee like that and an appointment has been booked for July.
Wouldn't that affect the issuance of visa as they will be answering something different from what is in the application.
Abi make i kukuma cancel everything and forget the visa money and reapply for all of us?
