Fellow nairalanders, i want U̶̲̥̅̊ αℓℓ to advice me concerning my girlfriend.

I met her more than a year now, she is a xtian from Akwa Ibom state and am a Muslim from south west. We met at working place and we started dating after i disclosed my feelings to her. Everything went on smoothly untill early this year when she asked me to come and meet her family and she said she will let them (her family) aware of my visit first . To my/her suprise, her family said she shouldnt come home with any man who isnt a Xtian.

Though we're still together because she claimed she love me but not like before.

Nairalanders, should i continue with her?

i can tell you to continue on because the culture where i live permits that but the reality in Nigeria is totally different because the family has a high level of influence regarding what their children do. I say that to say if stay, you won't be accepted by the Christian family who seems to have forgotten the first rule that Christ preach (Love thy neighbor) and you will forever be battling with them. The lady would also encounter lots of issues from her family possibly losing their support and we all know how "important" that is in Nigeria.

By the way, what does your family have to say about this relationship? are they progressive thinkers or... Also, she said she "loves you but no like before" what the heck does that mean?

Religion is one of the most important tin in a relationship nd once u got diff stand abt it with a girl,i'm not sure it'll work out well!

My family allowed me to come home with my choice of girl, we have no problem on that. What i wast trying to disclose by saying not like before is that, we didnt keep †нε intimacy like before though it wasnt her fault,its me that draw back.

The ultimate decision lies with her. If she chooses to go on with the relationship, her parents may likely along with her eventually or outrightly disown her.

On your part, I guess you must and will have to be very liberal towards her religion and the peculiarities in it.

Personally, the opposite is my dad's story. He was a Christian but with the active connivance of my mum passed of as a Muslim to marry my mum.... Her parents were not too particular I guess.

Anyhow, think it through very very well.
