Bro, you made a clear point here. Secession is not the solution to the igbo's marginalization but instead would aggravate the situation. The igbos are so integrated in the society with so many investments made across the nation. Who would be willing to sacrifice his investments for the course of Biafra. Let's be realistic. Breaking apart from Nigeria, there's still a long way to go.

How i wish Biafra can just happen peacefully, but the problem of we igbos is that we dont know the stand of our governors and senators and other political personalities, and that is really weaking our trust that we would have showered towards one well known and anoited person......

The problem with Nigeria is they will never listen to your pleas and requests until you do it forcefully and violently, after many years of war, nothing good has been built over here(in terms of FG projects) in the SS/SE how then will you prove that there was no victor and no vanquished?? why will a government claim that it care for a region which has been clamouring for self freedom for years but yet no attention has been given to them, that same region has lowest number of state in this country, why will they be happy?? Why on earth will they feel among??, they have contributed immensely for the success of this country, Nollyword na dem start am, Azikiwe(though he was the one that trapped us here) but was really the front fighter in the colonial era..... Oil and business are mostly from that region, they have accommodated many tribes in their region without fighting anyone(cos they see everyone as important in one way or the other), but are been fought here and there all through other tribes(because they establish and try there possible best to live comfortable anywhere they are) this are tribe who see theirselves as semi-god and its inborn, you cannot do anything about that and that made them see others not worth dinning with......they dont believe in something that does not work or even walk(just like Nigeria is faulty and crippled) They called for self freedom but they are been denied and abandoned......... Why wont they clamour for freedom and hope to be heard........... I pray that this freedom will be gotten freely and peacefully.......... AMEN
This is where u get it wrong again. Why should u be clarmoring for more states. If we dont have more states like other region, is it the creation of more states that will bring better life. The answer is NO. Some of this present state govts cant even generate revenue for their states and that is why they are owing civil servants. So lets begin to shout and put actions to it, that these govors must be accountable and responsible and not creation of states. Even if Nigeria breaks into 100 places or states what is on ground is what will be obtainable becos of our value deficit.

This is. Probably one of few sensible igbo men I have met in person or in a press. Others brag and do show of abysmal lack of common sense. Igbo nation cannot survive in their land. They make their fortune in other peoples' land. They claim to develop other peoples' towns and cities if you secede, you will see how the remaining people will treat you and your properties confiscated. Besides, you are bragging about using modern weapons to fight, are so sure the opposition does have access to the same. By the way what is the population of igbo that will fight the horde of Nigerian army plus volunteers from jobless youths that are ready to fight if given #1000 per day? After the war, will you be able to have your protection if you lost the war which you can never win? Gra gra yeye people

I feel a deep sense of grief and bewilderment when I read a lot of misguided comments from my Igbo brothers with some calling for a violent secession from Nigeria. Most of the generation of people making these statement never witnessed the civil war. They did not see first hand the horrors of war. They did not experience the terrific impact of bombs or the loud ear splitting sounds of heavy artillery shells as the explode. Should I talk about the economic impact? How our people were reduced to paupers and had to start from the scratch. How beautiful daughters were forcefully torn from the warm embrace of their families and married off to leprous men in the North just to spite our people. Only a mentally deranged and prone to self destruction individual will ever in his life support a violent secession from Nigeria.

Our problem is not secession. Our problem is learning how to live with other tribes in harmony while doing our businesses. Our focus should be on how to build consensus across the nation for vital political interests.

I laugh heartliy when I see some misguided Niger Delta youths like barcanista and co trying to be clever by half by playing to our sense of entitlement. Speaking from both sides of the mouth about how our people are being pushed aside and marginalized.
Yet these are the same people that effectively sabotaged the Biafran struggle under Ojukwu. These are the same people that lead the enemy in through our backyards and betrayed their so called brothers. Now they have started a new song because their brother Jonathan who performed woefully was booted out by majority of Nigerians.

I want us to know sometime that is historical. The moment an attempt is made to secede, the I jaws will immediately turn their backs and negotiate us away to advance their interests. So we will end up alone fighting the whole of Nigeria and loosing again.

When the chips are down, we are always alone.

Another point to consider is that Nigeria has become too intergrated to break up. Almost every family has in laws across their tribe. How will that be handled?

Igbo are the most integrated people in Nigeria with business interests across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Most of our people will become jobless or stay and be killed the moment a secession is declared.

Those who knew the truth will tell you that even inside Biafra there were still serious cases of tribalism and nepotism, even under the revered Ojukwu. That was why ahiara declaration became necessary to tackle these issues.

Finally, we are not ready militarily and would only be engaging in another massive waste of life if we insist on our ways.
So my people do not be deceived! Our best and only bet is to remain as law abiding citizens of Nigeria while doing our best to continue to be relevant in the scheme of things.
Ka Chineke mezie okwu.

God bless u my brother. You have just spoken the truth. Some people will just come online and begin to say trash. Even if Ojukwu happens to be alive today and being asked if he would lead his people for another secessation. He will say NO because of the bad experience he had even from his people.

Igbos, we are our own problem.

Do not secede, atleast not now. There are so many things we've not done in our region if we secede. Our case will be worse than sudan. Try as much as possible to better the region first before seceding.

If I can get igbo people here that can join me in helping the region, we can discuss later outside this forum. Its important we get things right.

For all of you shouting typing for biafra and you are based in lagos and other states, you must be a big fat fool angry what are you doing there? if you want it so badly then go to your state and start from there. you see peeps abroad clamouring for biafra, is that not stupidity?
and to those who want it by means of violence, do you think its a movie? those that witnessed the civil war would never wish the same again. do you think its a joke? ordinary robbery that i witnessed in oou where 5 banks were robbed was a hellish experience with dynamites blowing up doors and bullets flying everywhere. imagine the bomb blast in ikeja happening coupled with sporadic gunshots in the air. I have been shot by a paintball and sh.t is painful not to talk of a real bullet. do you think war is a good thing? a sensible person would never wish for that. ibo pple are making millions in lagos from their trade, why do you want to spoil that? sick and disgusting people everywhere angry

and you expect a serving president to mention Niger delta republic
your argument would have made sense if you have said no Niger delta person mention secession.
how do you want Igbos to agitate inside Nigeria when they are not wanted in Lagos that were collectively built by all Nigerians.they have to wait until in a few years time when the Gwaris will ask them to leave Abuja and go and build their own Abuja in the east.

a northern youth immediately after the election posted a comment on a social media the the ss and se will continue to be their slaves, that they will continue to rule over them and that any time they wish, they will allow the yorubas to have a test of power and within few minutes he had over 100 likes from his fellow northerners and some yorubas.

Due to the fact children lean more to their mothers, upon arrival they'd be sent to youth camps where they'd seasoned in patriotism, hardworking and loyal to Chukwu Abiama and the fatherland.
As for the mothers, they'd simply acculturate..by now your husbands must've given you Igbo names for a start!

Are we South Sudan?
Why haven't u talked about other countries that separated and are doing well.

We are South Sudan.

In other words....we are a country dependent on one resource.

And countries that split peacefully are those where the various regions can stand fully on their two feet....eg Czechoslovakia, the old Soviet Union.UK and Canada that almost split....all their regions can stand on their two feet.

African countries do not split well......both South Sudan and Ethopia/Eritrea have troops on their soil to maintain peace. And how many of you Africans can say that you are strong industrial nations? How many of you Africans have heavy industries?

If you want peaceful separation.....start by getting your governor to work hard at developing your region so that it can stand on its two feet via industrial development should oil run out. Same for every other Nigerian...then we can talk. If we split now...there will be one big anarchic war for oil...and I cannot guarantee it would end well, like the first one.

We are more educated and well exposed than in 1914 when the amalgamation happened. So you have never heard about unity in diversity? The British left since the sixties and we are still going strong as a united nation. The most important lesson is understanding our differences and doing everything within our power to minimize it.
And do you think even if we split along ethnic lines, the Igbo man from Anambra will not love to lord it over and above his brother from Ebony I and vice versa. Or the Yoruba man from Osun will not like to overtake the man from Ogun?
It is about individuals!
Following your argument why should an Igbo man marrry a Yoruba Lady, then? Do they have similar cultures? Or why should an idoma lady marry a Fulani man?
It is very simple! Know your differences and minimize it. Each tribe and ethnic group in Nigeria has something positive to contribute if given the chance.

You are wrong, a nation built on ethnic hhomogeneity would strive on merit rather than where you come from (as it is in Nigeria) because ultimately the citizens are the same
