Are you sure it's a pain and not a sensation like peppery or Crawling?
What type of Pain? Throbbing, Stabbing, like a tight band around the head, .......?
This pain, what's the Intensity? Any other relieving factors or aggravating factors?
What side of the Head? Allover or located in just one Area?
How long has it been On? Does it occur at a particular time of d Day?
You need to be reviewed by a neurologist.

Dreams whether at night or during the day are not bad.
It may become a problem if you don't sleep well at night or spend previous work hours daydreaming rather than been productive.
Like I mentioned earlier,dreams are just our wish fulfillment or repressed emotions.
Sometimes when we are under alot if stress, we dream more n the contents of our dreams are reflection of what have preoccupied our minds during the day.

Thanks Doc. If this symptoms are noticed, what is the next thing to do, not all hospital has a psychologist where can one go for further diagnosis and treatment

Hello Dr. I keep having repeated episodes of what appears to be night terror. My sleep pattern is quite distorted as i now have to wake up severally in the night. Please what can be done??

Tayo2k7 if you or anyone u know have those symptoms, he needs to see a PSYCHIATRIST not just a psychologist because a psychiatrist by training can prescribe drugs in need in addition to psychological management but a psychologist is limited in that area.. U can find a specialist in govt hospitals n a few private clinics. Can also ask for a referral from your clinic to a tertiary hospital.

How long has this been On? Other than waking up repeated, do u Ve difficulty falling back to sleep in the early Hours?
Sudden terrors at night could be symptoms of depressive disorder. U need to be evaluated further to rule this out.

This cousin of yours, how long ago did he start this habit? What other substances is he using?
Is he motivated to stop d use of Crack?
Does he realize the damages caused by crack... financial, health risk, disruption in relationships n Work?
Rehab from psychoactive drugs is POSSIBLE but wld require alot of work from his part.
U can help him by advising him to get help early.

You see a neurologist for this, this is not within the scope of practise of a psychiatrist. Besides there are a number of tests that will need to be done to determine how to effectively help your brother which cannot be done on Naira land.
I hope you understand. Though this might be a bit expensive but it will definitely be worthwhile, a least to give the guy some relief.

You mentioned two major things that caught my attention (1) stopped talking (2) messing himself up
When someone in that condition stops talking it could be mutism which is a psychiatric problem or neurological damage in the part of d brain responsible for speech. Was this Loss of speech insidious or sudden? Was his speech ever Slurred? Was it incoherent or irrelevant at any point b4 he stopped Talking?
Messing up himself maybe because of incontinence ie he can't really control his sphincters or because he may think he is in a toilet when actually he is in the bedroom ( this is now a prob with memory or cognition). Does he get confused around the House? Does he forget his way around the House? Does he forget details particularly short term Informations? Did any of the later mentioned occur at any time?
Seizure disorders are managed by both psychiatrist and neurologist.
Reasons being that;
Various Psychiatric disorders cld coexists with seizure disorders n cld be in form of cognition, emotion, affective or behavioural problems.
Doesn't really matter who sees him whether neurologist or psychiatrist. Both specialist may have to refer to the next specialist or better still, have to comanage depending on their clinical findings.
Untreated seizure disorder cld become complicated n result in severe brain damage which explains d neurological n psychiatric complications.

The same basic rules apply to them all
Whatever the habit we choose to indulge in, we cross the line to dependence(what you call addiction) when ;
When our daily routine becomes preoccupied (actual doing it or excessively thinking about it) by these activities
It affects our personal relationships, work, quality of life.
We lose control to the indulgence.
Personal decisions and Attempts to stop activity always fails
Continuous indulgence despite been aware of the negative consequences on our health and life in this case despite the risk of Hiv, STDS, lose of monogamous relationships...
And Generally affects our mental health (ie the way we think, feel or act/behave)
In addition, sometimes these activities are accompanied by obsessive acts and anxieties to carry out the activities which leads to other mental problems n even psychosis as commonly seen with hard drugs/psychoactive substances

Hi doctor, i have sm1 thats having sleeping disorder, he wake up at the meddle of the night talking and walking around, he had loose focus of his primary objectives by caring less about the important things and he keeps writing and doing analytical stuff thats irrelevant
Artimes i see him scratching back of his head.
He had been tru some trumer, and shock before he travel back from abroad.

I dont quite understand your last 2 lines however, when anyone suffers from sleeping issues that begins to affect his functioning, he should seek help.
This person you know who wakes up talking n pacing and doing irrelevant analysis should go n see a specialist.
Appears to be having a prodromal phase of a psychological disorder.

My Dad retired from active service in 1999 and my mum became the sole financier of our school fees and otherwise. She is just a primary school teacher. As years go by, her complains became louder. In the year 2012, she started emaciating tremendiously, we ran series of test on her but all remain negative. After about 6 months, we dicovered that she has started forgetten things and this became serious after the burial of our father last year 2014 January. Lack of cordination and loggical reasononing started. We took her to a pychatirstics hospital and to another medical doctor and all diagonised dementia. But unfortunately, the drugs they prescribed for her nearly kill her. Infact, the drugs prescribed by the two doctors nearly turned her into zombie. Recongnition and movement (limb movement ) almost stooped. We stopped administering the drugs and she came back to her previous state. Now someone told us to take her to hospital for brain to be scanned which we are planning to do this week but the person equally told us that the cost of brain surgery is N500,000.
Doc, my question to you is; Given your experience, what is actually wrong with my mum. Secondary, can we get a cheaper and effective hospital where brain surgery can be conducted if it becomes necessay because this illness has actually costs us alot.
She is still young, aroung 49 - 52 years and no dementia in her family. Fourth in her family and the elders are bubbling fine and the father at 79 years is very sound.
