Hello everyone. Just want to share my experience frm POE to my destination(Phoenix). Up to doc office.
Sorry for the long letter
I flew with Emirates frm abuja. I was d only preggy on d flight to Seattle. By the time I got to d queue, I noticed I was the only person with a green passport. Since I came out of d flight early, it got to my turn fast.
Cbp: why ar u here? Vacation nd birthing
Hw long will u be staying? Estimate of 9 weeks
Are u having a boy or girl? Yet to know
Is dis ur first child? No, 3rd
Where did u give birth to the others? Nig
So, why do u want to giv birth here? Better healthcare
Will ur husband be coming? Don't knw yet cos he's busy
Hw much do u have? 6000
Have u contacted a doc? Yes, gave him my appointment letter frm MHIS nd contract form.he was impressed.
Do u have any other moni? Told him amt in my debit card
Sign me in till Feb 2016. And said have a safe delivery
I didn't even go for food inspection. I jst walked past cos my luggage was one small box that I had some food stuff.

I went to the hosp d following day 5th aug . After paying bills in cash, they gave me 13th to see a doc but I insisted that I was already 35 weeks gone. So, they gave me the nxt day. Went back the following day nd they did all the test nd gave me one elderly papa (Dr Collins). He measured my stomach nd said I was 31weeks but I told him I was past that weeks that I have a small stomach nd from the early scans I did, I'm 35 weeks already. I then demanded for a scan but was given the end of this month. I told myself this people are not serious oo, what if I give birth b4 that day? Anyway I'm waiting but very angry. When I discussed it with a doc, he said early scans are more accurate than late scan. And they measure the fondant height by certain parameters. And becos my stomach is small, they might use it to make judgement. Mwee.....
Has anyone used Dr Collins at MHIS? What's ur experience with him? Just curious

whenever you're free, walk in any branches and let the customer care peeps tell you more about it. It would be good you get your PTA rather than swiping here as the exchange rates are different.

Did u get ur visa after u put to bed? If no, then u are fine.. Since you stayed in houston already

There's no point lying at the Poe, Just tell them the truth as to why to changed ur mind from Houston to LA

I haven't used Dr Collins before neither am I using MHIS but I'll like to say go with your EDD in your earlier scan results.

Am also in houston, done all tests and scan and they gave me a different EDD from my previous scans which I know is definitely 2 weeks above my due date. Am no 1st time mum, 3rd time actually like you.

What i did was go to the hospital, paid all hospital bills, filled their form etc. So whenever I feel it's time, I'll head straight to the hospital and my doctor will join me there.

I have seen the doctor twice since I got here and done all tests, pap smear etc so there is really no need seeing the doctor again only if I don't feel good which is unlikely.

My advice to you is this: quit being angry, take your prenatals, take long walks if the sun permits and when you think it's time, head straight to the hospital. However if you don't feel good before then, then go see your doctor.

why do u wanna fly back to Houston after birth? Can't u process everything about the baby in LA?
Pls elaborate on this back and forth houston /la movement
On a second thought (though not compulsory) u can write to the embassy that you have changed your mind about birthing in Houston and now u wanna use LA (just becos the cbp guys in Houston are strict) or else it's unnecessary...
If it's la u r using then Drs correspondence and accommodation shld most definitely b in LA na... How u wan dey go LA come dey show dem accommodation for Houston.
If it's HOUSTON u r birthing everything shld be Houston (accommodation + Drs correspondence)
If it's LA same thing.

This ur question get as e b.
Sorry for not replying ur email, the nairaland emails are plenty jare, and I'm too lazy for individual replying and shii... I wish I can merge the emails together and reply the usual "hi or hello" at once... Lol

@dyout: @shimk is right, its two bags of 23kg each. They also weigh your hand luggage in MMA II; I think thats like 15kg max

Ok let me attempt to explain
EDD is expected date of delivery not definitive day of delivery, some say estimated date of delivery
From weeks 10-26 the crown rump length or CRL can be used to determine fetal age. The most accurate time to use ultrasound as a dating device to scan the gestational age and delivery date is either between 7 and 10 weeks of pregnancy or 12 and 18 weeks.
After 26 weeks using scan to date pregnancy is not so accurate anymore ( that's why the dr wasn't so keen)
Scans after 26weeks is majorly for the lie of the baby, the presenting part and the position of the placenta... And in some cases to determine the sex.
Here in Nigeria according to practice using tape after 36 weeks ( some earlier) is pointless it's going to give you a reduced date(measurement).
Now the tape measurement is reported as "the EDD IS BLA BLA CM PLUS OR MINUS 2 weeks

You can calculate ur EDD YOURSELF
Add 7 days to the first day of the last normal period and count back 3 months

That's why the usual saying "the earliest scan done is the most accurate"

Okay oh, If they say so on their website - so be it..., but the attendants @ United in Naija weighed (i think 15kg limit) & measured (made sure it fitted into some contraption like this ) my peeps hand luggage before they left. 100% sure of this

I no too blame them jare, wen b say na apoti some 9ja peeps go dey use as handluggage nko..??

@chenonye Its still the same 2bags of 23kg i.e for economy. Business class & premier get 32kg.
