Hello Shelly23, what do u mean by Not true... I'm telling u the quote they gave me at the airport just last weekend. Where u there with me... Abeg people should know how to comment appropriately. Plus if you read through the thread you will see where others got charged ridiculously when they bought from the US. Biko don't call anyone a liar for putting up their experiences so others can learn...

shelly23:
Not true, I got a quote from Delta in May for $85 for my daughter which I was to pay at the airport.

I had to change my travel date and ended up paying $191 about a month later. I found out the $85 initially quoted was for one way because the person I spoke to assumed my daughter had a naija passport. I eventually bought the return ticket because I found out they won't sell one way to naija with a naija visa in a US passport (same way you can't buy one way to the US with your B1/B2 visa). When I got home, I applied for a refund for the unused leg of the trip and I got $85 almost 2 months later.

@shelly23, I had to pay $430 in January when I was coming back with my baby on delta. due to this new information , I advised a friend who travelled last week to buy the baby's ticket from najia and it was even less than 10% of the mother's ticket. also I learnt that the earlier you purchase the baby's ticket the cheaper it is. another factor is the location you are coming from matters too.

Hi y'all,
I'm new here. I have read some of the posts in part 1 and part 2 of this thread. I intend to have my baby in the US. I already have a 2yr US visa which is less than one year old. Pls do I need to notify the embassy That I am going to have a baby there, or should I just get a hospital and every thing else and just show up at the airport on my travel day? Thanks.

Not true, meaning you can't say not to buy from the US at all. Like someone else mentioned, it also depends on who you speak to when you call, not all the reps are as experienced.

Sorry if I came across as calling you a liar. I don't know you like that you accuse you of such.

there's no problem about buying in the U.S. but it's more expensive dasall.. Different mamas have fallen victim and learned their lessons. besides not everyone have relatives in lagos who can help them purchase a cheaper one , so dey have no option that to use d US

people have used their Visas for d purpose and were still asked if the embassy was notified. U don't loose anything by writing to inform d embassy. Depends on ur POE, they may or may not ask you. So just write the embassy's to save urself from any wahala

Good day House...

Update on the nightmarish POE called Chicago ORD, this time, its point of EXIT..

I checked in at the airport with my precious cargo, got our boarding passes & still had about an hour and a half to kill so was just chilling at the lounge, boarding was called at 9:40 but still was lounging, at 10, decided to roll myself, Baby, hand luggage jejely to the plane, only to hear at almost the entrance of the plane from two custom officials..... "ma'am, this way", i was fingerprinted and the drama began...

1."You came in 50+ days ago,so your only mission was to have a baby here? * With a sinister smile on the male officer's face*... i answered in the affirmative & reiterated that i was honest about my intention.. He replied " yes i can see that, *with the kind of look that clearly says, which crazy person let you in!!!

2. Why didn't you go to missouri as you declared at entry?... "i preferred to stay in chicago where i have family and also got an ok deal... *Not completely true cos Chicago was always my intention but no Hospital or Dr gives admits in absentia, they don't even reply emails & i know dem by winch, so had to get an acceptance from someplace for them.....

They were buttering up with one & two, No 3 came!!

3. What govt benefits did you enjoy on this journeym, i answered none, they now asked to see receipt & zero balance, i said "its likely to be in my checked in baggage, the male officer said, we may have to ask for your luggage cos we are not likely to take your word for it...

I said hold on let me check my hand luggage cos i had some docs in it, may find it in there, he & the lady officer just said no need and took my hand luggage, diaper bag & hand bag and proceeded to empty them (the lady officer was even asking about my connection to the various biz cards in my wallet), by sheer luck, it was in there & he told me congrats, cos he was about to CANCEL my VISA with PREJUDICE.. undecided

I Expressed shock that "i was supposed to present it at my next ENTRY, but he told me NO, you were told EXIT (which is the truth but i assumed the guy who interviewed me at entry made an error), &reminded me to always have it for any US entry/exit for FOREVER.

Told him, "thanks" & was allowed to go after being told lucky you.. they aint gat nothing on me..#Godwin..

MORAL OF THE STORY!!!
Chicago ORD POE aint sh1t!! angry
