Cool, how everyone is givin' their opinion on the snake, but that's a Viper, a Gaboon Viper precisely.

I'm a, or, I was a snake keeper, I've had, Python, Tree Snake, Water(rat) Snake, Viper(puff adder not gaboon). . .but I remember somethin' the viper did that made me kill her, she didn't last 6 hours with me(others spend weeks, some escape), vipers don't joke, they mean serious business.

I'm just sayin', don't come here to show oversabi or somethin', that snake is very venomous, and you can't say the name of a snake or determine if it's venomous by lookin' at it, except you a herpetologist,or you have experience with snakes.

That's a gaboon viper. Very distinctive markings, quite vicious and aggressive reptile.

No Sir, its no magic
I didn't just say viper, I was specific with the type of viper cos several other snakes like rattlesnake and puff adders are vipers as well but the Gaboon viper like I said has this characteristic zig zag marking on their side which pythons don't have.
eaglechild:

Young pythons have that same description.

For you to say that is a viper from that picture is nothing short of magic.

Vipers are very rare.

Most of what people brand viper are young pythons.

It is not a good thing.

Many drugs are derived from snake venom.

I think you are right.

Looking at the second picture closely it resembles a gaboon viper. The characteristic pale brown broken stripes on its back give it away.

That is a very venomous snake.

Maybe the roasting is not for them to eat it. Some people believes that when you kill a snake that it's better to roast it than to throw it away just like that.

Lol. My friend, there's a big difference between roast and burn. Roasting is a form of cooking while burning is meant to destroy something completely by turning it 2 ashes. Pls check up I. ur dictionary & thank me later. Cheers!

THIS SERPENT INJECTS UP TO 400 MG OF VENOM PER BITE ON IT'S VICTIM & IT TAKES LESS THAN 15 MINUTES FOR HIM TO DIE.

Because it is a viper. From the sight, the shape of the head, the size of the body and the color.

It is a viper. Crazily dangerous buggers

Judging from the design and length, methinks its a puff adder.

Please, how do you guys know it's a viper

[size=14pt]dont mind them. that is a python.
where I come from, it is a taboo to kill a python. U just have to carefully pick it up and throw it into the bush.
when my grand father was alive, he does not even pick it up. he will just greet the snake and respectfully tell it to go into the bush because it is scaring the children. and the snake will just crawl away. am dead serious.
