PETERiCHY:

It's no joke OANDO will drop below #7. early Last year i gave some stock picks ranging from fidelity to Transcorp to Fcmb etc and they all did well at that point in time but in the case of OANDO from onset i was screaming and issuing strong warning to everyone that it's strictly meant for "LONG TERM IDLE FUND" My obligation is to reveal what I saw in the spirit realms while the final decision remains all yours.

All the figures you gave are exaggerated. It doesn't take away from the point you intend to pass to PETERiCHY though. I just hate exaggerations.
I can say he his 90% right, you can get the stock prices of the listed stocks in 2007 from proshare. Even Afroil a company that did not have an office because they had been eject, saw the stock price move from 50k to N7 within 2 month. Intercontinental bank that paid a dividend of about 30k and earning per share of less than N1 sold for N44. As a margin trader with FBN Capital I was able to buy Wema Bank for 80k and sold for between N9 and N10 within a year. The coming of the Karim Brothers to Costain through Shoreline saw the share price moved from 50k to N35 within 18 months. The market was very crazy between 2005 and 2007.

Interesting! Crazy world it must have been back then. No wonder, people sold their houses and lost the very clothes on their backs after the crash.

Now I know. Apologies. How come most didn't use stop losses and kept watching their investments nosedive? It doesn't make sense.

Another major factor that led to loss of money is the fact that there was no online trading platform.............Even when the intercontinental/UBN issue was going on I couldn't sell my stock and I accepted the losses like that..............I hate that UBN stock with passion...........The takeover was fraudulent and thats why something like that will never happen to me again...........

The brokers were simply too powerfull. Investors were basically at their mercy, and they were usually answerable to the 'cowboys'.

And some people like us back then were plainly naive- I bought enough IPOs.lolz, sad...but true lol

Everybody wanted easy money without taking investment valuation/returns into consideration. A family friend sold his house in Ketu for about N2 million in 2000 because of debtor tenants, as a distributor of Nestle products he invested 90% of the money realised from the sale of his house into Nestle stocks which is currently valued at about N160 million. Another investor sold one of his houses on Airport Road Lagos for N8 million in 2007 and used the fund to buy Big Treat, BGL, IGI and Geofluid Private Placements, he is yet to earn N1 on his investment and the stocks are worthless. It was irrational to buy blue chip stocks like NB, Guinness, Nestle, WAPCO etc when the market was crazy between 2005 and 2007.

Do you think stop loss can work in a crazy market where everybody and organisation were doing the same. Investors was buying the same stocks and selling similar stocks at the same time. I diversified my loot into real estate and money market instruments because the earnings of most of the banking, insurance and penny stocks cannot support their prices.

It was sad then and I had to turn my back to the market until late last year............But the online trading innovation has helped the participation of many people on NSE and because of that I most people can pump a lot of money for trading/investing because they know their faith is in their hand........I hope things will get more better.............

Wait, are you saying that people were so powerless that they would watch N20 million become N5 million and still take no action? Accepted that there was no online trading for private individuals, but would one ask a broker to sell his stakes and such mandate would not be carried out?

Brokers were very powerful during that era and there was nothing like online trading for individuals in 2008. That was the era on non-availability of stocks for sale or purchase. My brokers always used my purchase instructions to first of all buy for themselves after buying enough quantity they would then buy mine 72 hours after the instruction.

Lolz...I remember when I wanted to sell my bank Phb shares, cashcraft took over a week to sell. By the time they sold, I had incurred about 25% loss...I was still lucky. I think I was one of the few people that made it out of that bank with a decent percentage of their capital.

This Joseph does not believe in your Lord or religion, although that is a discussion for another thread. I am a Christain, but my mind is towards Agnostism.

You will definitely make a career in the comedy industry. I think when he started investing is of little or no importance, the most important factor that will aid his success in the investment world is the willingness to learn from the mistakes of the older investors.

LOL...Sire, again I bring no trouble. And I'm a nobody in the grand scheme of things. I think though that investment is not by how long you've been present or even by age. Pray tell, what experience did Buffett or Graham have when they started and how old were they? But then, what do I know!

Are you a disciple of Graham and Buffet?. Have you read Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham, Security Analysis by Benjamin Graham and David Dodd?
