The OP is trying to make a point but he fails to put certain things into consideration eg. The Vatican city where the Pope reign as an indirect ruler is treated partially as a separate country and the Catholic Church have the largest congregation in the whole world;

My point: millions of dollars accrue to the church on monthly basis from tithes, offerings from members, donations from members, governments & organisations & rent/ payments from firms operating in the Vatican city etc. I believe that the Vatican have several planes but the pope trends to fly as he so wish in other to show the world that various reforms are going on in the Vatican.

Now taking about men of God outside the catholic church, my believe is that some of them fly private jets for good reasons while several do it just to show class.

we are in the technology age, messages can be streamed so flying at the expense of the congregation is not necessary

even with the jet, it is still possible that he wont be able to to deliver 50 teaching in different parts of the world in a day.
