Ok. I think its time to share our story. In the spirit of giving back...

Though I have a nairaland account for many years, i became very active Sep 2015. I read all Part 1, some part 2 and have been up to date on part 3. That may explain why I might not have asked many questions as all of the info we used for our interview were detail we got from here. My wife is very busy so i do most of the reading. Anywhere? Bus, Toilet, kitchen, lunch time etc...lol. here goes our interview transcript....

VO: Good morning
Me & Wife: good morning
VO:why are you going to US?
Wife: For childbirth
Me: to visit my wife and witness the birth
VO: (looking surprise but straight face)....ok. have you contacted any doctor?
Me: Yes. (Pull out our burden of proof to show her doctors correspondence )
VO: Oh okay....Youre going to Houston Texas....now started the barrage of question....how much does hospital charge for CS, how much for epidural, how much for doctor fee,
Me: answered and then point to our budget sheet, doctor and hospital fee.
VO: what do you....tell me your role at work and hiw much you earn
Both: told her:
VO: where would you stay and how much for a day
Wife: told her we booked for 10weeks
VO: (looking surprised)....thats too cheap...are you sure
me: yes...we git a special discount....showed tge receipt.
VO: not satisfied. ....can i see your bank statements
Wife: hands over the doc
VO kept tyoing and checking thr statement lune by line.....then looks up. Left for a while to speak to a supervisor and came back...Im sorry i cannot complete your application now... we need to make some check further on this. ...Took the bank statements and gave us the pink sheet or so....stating application will go for admin processing.
Left with mixed feeling but we trusted God and thanked him cos we were not rejected. After, wifey bank called to confirm the bank where she got her statement...she told them and we waited again for another week. She asked why and the ank just said they are trhing to respond to the us embassey since the signature on the statement wasn't rregular. Then after 2weeks, wifey was called from visa office to come back any Tuesday by 1:30pm to complete the interview....i couldnt go so only wifey went since the VO said one of us can come. Wifey was then issued visa for both of us without issue.
Gods been good and thanks to all the comments and ideas shared here.
Surprisingly we got email from DR A of OMC office and that's what we used....i read she doesnt really send mails but we got after repeated calls to her office.
Just to point that we should remain honest no matter what and dont used any forged documents...these VO can go as far as checking to confirm whatever we say....the VO investigated our account statement and the accomodation we stated....

@firstymum, ozycy, phema, tvegas, favoredgal, mumtee, etc .....Thanks everyone. ...

will come back to share POE stories for her when she's there....traveling Jan....due in Feb

So sorry for the long post....Im going back to reading mode....

Thank you dear... I am not sure if I can port to Chicago after saying I am going to Kansas, do I need to write a change of travel plans to them? I'll check the suggested sites and let you know. Thank you wella again
..U can port anywhere as long as u have a dr's correspondence for the new place....I did same a couple of months ago even wt Houston as Poe...To boost ur confidence you can send an email to the embassy notifying them of a change in your itinery...print and go wt d reply..it was suggested to someone earlier..i think its a good idea. Congrats on ur visa

Thank you so much, na Baba God do am,so excited... Booking ticket na the issue now oh... Please reply my pm oh, make I plan where I go port go grin can I port after I told the vo a particular place? Or is it better to go there first then to another state? Please help me and my one million questions grin I will soon be an expert, lol
Of course you can port to another state, you don't have to go to the intended place you mentioned during interview. Just to be on a safer side, you can write to the embassy about your change in plan and carry their response as your proof.
Atlanta and JFK are good POE. All the best.

Lol! I wanted to let the house know when I landed after POE, cause the interview was to long to type, thank you oh
Any POE? I thought Houston and Chicago were a no no even after you declare childbirth, I read experiences, the problem is I don't know how to check for all the flights, first time traveller, checked wakanow and travelstart but they are still expensive, isn't going to the airline's website expensive? I can't play with dates cause of time sadly.

What is your budget. I booked and paid for my mum's ticket to California today. I got Virgin Atlantic for 314k for this Wednesday 18th of November, BA was about 320k, Emirate, Turkish were doing BTW 300k-350k. It's better you buy directly from the airline so that it will be cheaper if you need to reschedule. Also Tuesdays-Thursdays are cheaper.

Remember you will go to the hospital just once - that's when you are in labor

A lot of people have used soulcare including ozycy
Just use the search button

My people, especially the veterans...

Who will be nice enough to bless my life with a stroller? My job is very active and allows my baby roam with me, but her weight is not very friendly to my chest and back, sometimes I may need to have her next to me while I work and realised a stroller will solve my problem.

She is almost 3mths and weeighs 7.5kg.

So this is me saying

HELP A SISTER! cry
Those of you laughing at my predicament... yes, I can see you angry

That's not what I was told at the bank, I was there yesterday... Confirm your info oh...

You need a current account to get PTA from union bank. I initially opened a savings account only to be told after applying that I can only get with a current account. Spent the entire day at the bank looking for references. Eventually got PTA at 7pm. So pls just got prepared to open a current Acct.

Fidelity stopped selling PTA. And you can also get from sterling bank on a savings account. I just got last week Friday at trans amadi.

P/s. This is for those based in ph. Don't know if same applies to those in other states.

I didn't apply for passport but from what I read in a link on the previous page, the passport fee is to be addressed to innovate one, and the processing fee of #30 to Nigeria embassy

Shey using either Nigerian passport or getting a Nigerian visa is all OK. Me thinking of the stress in getting a passport, think I will jst get Nigerian Visa instead then come and get passport in Naija

Anyone of them is fine. You can apply for Naija passport if you are in Newyork, Washington or Atlanta as it's more affordable, if not na visa sure pass.

Hello All, so i am unexpectedly back here. Just discovering i'm pregnant. though i had my baby in US the last time without hitch thanks to this thread; i have to change location of visit this time. Anyone has info on CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) around Arlington Texas?
i registered with one the last time and it was very cost effective. if your planned delivery is by VB and they always have surgeons available in case an emergency CS needs to be done.
Any info please help. PS: it's hospital birth o
