Seeing so many comments here makes me feel sorry for Nigeria. We really deserve the kind of leaders we have had since 1999. Abike is Buhari's SSA on diaspora. What's so hard in saying I can assure you the govt is working really hard to allay your fears sir, bla bla bla... If she was campaigning, would she have answered him that way? Arrogance everywhere and some of you are shamelessly defending them.

My brother, you couldn't have said it any better

BAD RESPONSE FROM AN HIGHLY REFEREED PERSON LIKE DABIRI.... MUCH AS WE NEED TO CRUCIFY HER ON HER INAPPROPRIATE RESPONSE, WE NEED TO KNOW SHE'S HUMAN AS WELL.

BABA OBJ SAID SOMETHING SIMILAR TO EDRIS ABDUL-KARIM WHEN HE SANG NIGERIA JAGA JAGA
let's crucify them all maybe that will make them start acting right

You see how u re talking now? I am either naive or ignorant, right? This is the same trait u will take along with you when you become a leader tomorrow, either as a celeb or government official. That is my point.

You don't have to be a celeb or a govt official before u learn how to be polite and diplomatic in ur response. If you re not used to it as a common person with little or no public attention, you won't be used to it when you become a public figure and bombarded with criticisms left, right and centre. You can only pretend for so long, before you explode one day. Ask Sunday Oliseh and Adams Oshomoele.
Nah nah nah... Guy, you can't box me to that corner...lol! Those words are not harsh atall... I know exactly the words I used! Besides that I know you get the point I am trying to make.

I am not boxing you into any corner. U put urself there. Abike's comment doesn't even carry as much weight as urs, yet see the bashing she's receiving. No one would bash you cos they probably don't know u yet.

Public servant are supposed to be diplomatic. But u don't learn diplomatic on the day you take an oath of office. The same set of people who insult people on Nairaland here at the slightest provocation would eventually become public figures tomorrow. And u expect them to be diplomatic? . Its fundermental problem my friend! We shouldn't cut the leaves and branches and expect the tree not to grow when the root is still intact.

Yeah I 100% agree with you.,.... Remember you gonna lead someday too... And your words will be used for or against you.....

All in all we must learn to choose our words carefully.... That's what I've learnt from the whole thing

No one is saying anyone is perfect but when you hold a position you have got to be sensitive and not treat it like your normal life. you can't just make comments without thinking

VictorRomanov:
Nigerians seems to know how celebs and government officials should behave and act. However they do the same or even worse things in their daily lives. Maybe they think becoming a govt official or celeb makes u perfect automatically

My brother most of us fail to realize people holding high positions are human after all .... We says something more worse than this yet not crucified for it.

It must be hard being in power sometimes

Abike Dabir was wrong, yes. she has also come out to explain her statement. even though a wrong impression has already been created. too bad.
but these our leaders sef... what is the problem with u all? instead of encouraging Nigerians, they are being arrogant. Imagine Kachikwu saying he is not a magician and we shud not expect fuel scarcity to end soon. Well, God is with us.

as a public figure u must watch how u talk becos at times u need to think twice on what u say , not just saying anything u like, sometimes pple will take it as u dont have manners and u may open urself to the public insult. u need to be responsible no matter who u are,

That means holding a position makes ones fake sometimes .... Kudos to those who fakes it to the end..... Very hard being yourself when you're high profile figure

manner of approach is vry crucial as a public figure, she's not the only one to have answered that way, I could remember durin a media chat with PMB the way he responded to questions was so so discouraging. I think she learnt it frm buhari.

I know bro. But all the same the problem didn't start from the comment she made. It start from how you and I respond to criticisms: harshly. When we hold high positions our mentality doesn't change automatically. We will still be tending towards harsh response to criticism. Abike Dabiri is not known to have a pattern of rude response. So we should cut her some slack. Some of us intentional provoke celebs and pub officials to get a response. And when they give us the response we crave, we begin to play both saint and victim.

Nairaland is awashed with threads on how people insult and pick on celebs to provoke them. They are as human as we are.

She's only doing her job of representing her boss. Have we all forgotten so soon how PMB responded in Benin Republic to our Nigerians who asked what policies and actions were being arranged in place for them to return home?

In case you have, his response was "Don't come back! Don't come and add to our problems, please stay where you are"

Abike Dabiri is only butressing PMB's points, simple.

What's the big deal? The SA stated the obvious nobody is asking him to come home. Some of these illegal immigrants think too high of themselves.

Why u dey provoke, even if them be illegal, at least them dey make small change dey send their families down home.

2nd - Kachikwu shouting 2 Nigerians he isnt a Magician wen he's suppose 2 be all apologetic

3rs - Abike Dabiri telling a Nigerian abroad nobody'z begging him 2 cum back home

The way most of you jobless castigators move around in swarms baffles me. You are quick to populate any thread that greases your ego and gives you leverage to pounce on the government and give vent to the your bitterness-ridden hearts. I just read a thread on Okonjo Iweala borrowing to pay salaries when we were selling crude oil for N64 or thereabouts and not on of you blind critics were found on that thread to put up any defence for your so-called hero and heroines. But you are quick to fly in here to polish your pained ego and criticize any thing that is connected with APC and Buhari whether founded or not.

Shame on you. #backtoworkjare #NotimeForjoblessWailers

What was your reaction when GEJ said "he didn't give a damn" on National TV?

Or what was your reaction when Fayose acclaimed that Bola Tinubu is a true and accomplished Leader?

I am provoked sir! It's a good think that they are sending more to their families but you know what? I also take care of my family yet the issue at stake is that the guy in question spoke as if the federal govt is officially calling on him to return to Nigeria which is not true hence I said that the SA stated the obvious as nobody asked him to come home....

That is so rude madam abike dabiri! The man states the things he fears about coming home permanently! Doesn't mean he doesn't come home to visit! And instead of you as a "special adviser" to give him hope on the change you and your cabinet promised us! You ended up giving him another reason not to return! That is showing him we have touts as leaders, who don't care about the feelings of her citizenry! Shame on you abike dabiri! angry lmao at who is asking you to come? very disgraceful! If the work don taya u abeg step down! Same way bubu went and said all Nigerians are criminals. Same birds flocking together cry
