Lucien’s rage never ends until the reason for him getting angry in the first place gets sorted out. It’s likely that more bodies will be buried in the coming days and no one will be able to save the unfortunate souls. I am not safe either because when he gets bored of killing people who were never going to fight back ,he will surely come for me and I might not be able to hold my own. It is therefore very important that I find this strange man quickly. My task was easy as I knew he was in Yugard presently and we should be able to get there by night fall of the next day. I called for the best trackers and the fastest horses among the fleet and soon we were on our way.

The charade was a few metres away from the repulsive town filled with redundant fellows and the lowest scums of the Earth when I sensed something strange in the atmosphere. Someone was using magic not of my signature and different from what I teach my followers, this magic was ancient and tells of the nature of the person. I should be able to see what the person’s gift is made of but for some reason I couldn’t, rather I was seeing the person’s nature which should mean that the person is actually dead, which of course makes no sense. Whoever was behind the mask of nature is quite smart but the longer he or she lingers in my hold, the faster the fellow’s magic yields to mine. I shrugged off the strange magic and focused on the task at hand as it seems I wasn’t the only one after the anomaly.

Soon, we arrived at the town and it didn’t take too much asking to find the dirty, filthy place someone of such glorious gift is residing. We were told whom we were seek was sleeping, I couldn’t tell if they were saying the truth or they were scared of the drawn swords. I was also skeptical too as the strange man’s gift seem to disappear but came back in full force moments later as the strange nature magic faded without trace. Without doubt, someone was actually after the strange man. After tasking some of the soldiers to guard each of the entrances out of the inn, we went upstairs where we found a man with long hair and a strange old woman arguing. Immediately, they spotted us, the strange woman seemed to lose her mind and grabbed the young man with unsual strength as they both took to their heels but they didn’t go far as I stopped them with a barrier spell and then I witnessed the impossible...

I took an arrow and got close to the door , opening just slightly to see an old woman who looked like she will collapse any minute . I was surprised and immediately hid the arrow behind my back, although her eyes followed my every move .

“ What do you mean that my life is great danger.” I asked. She was about to answer my questions when strange looking men walked up the stairs raising swords and one strange, tall man in particular in a black robe which didn’t reveal much about his face apart from a big long nose pointing at us. The old woman panicked after seeing them and quickly grabbed my hand , sprinting off to wherever. But we didn’t go far as an invisible wall seem to stop us. I have never seen something like this before, could this be magic? We turned around to see the men gaining on us. For some strange reason, the old woman threw something she got from her bag towards the men and as soon as it touched them , whatever she threw became tiny bugs that started eating into the men’s flesh. They cursed and scratched but the tiny bugs didn’t go away. The tall man didn’t seem affected by the bugs and stretch forth his arms as blue flames emerged from the palm of his hands which was both beautiful and horrific. He released the fire and instinctively , I pulled the horrified old woman behind me and receive the full blast of the flames . I closed my eyes as I expected to be burnt meat by now but I didn’t smell anything save for my smelly clothes.

I was surprised but the man wasn’t and tried to come after me with fists. I dodged his first punch and threw my fist at his manhood making him scream and move back. That was the break we needed as I and the old woman took to our heels. We used the back door to try and escape but we met resistance and the old woman did what she did the other time. We left the man in pains as I followed the old woman to a black, beautiful horse.

“ Get on it, we need to get to the border quickly. “ I didn’t have time to argue as the soldiers came out and embarked on their horses as they came after us. As I looked over me before we took off , I couldn’t help but wonder what I did to these nasty people who were after me and who most certainly killed my family.

She kept on saying that we needed to get to the border over and over again till I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to tell her politely to keep quiet, as I thought of ways to get us out of this mess. The soldiers were hot on our trail and might soon catch up with us. But despite her fear, she kept on riding through the woods like she was born there. She glided her way through the thick forest without leading her horse to any halt and I wondered how she was doing it as there was no clear path through which one could travel. It then became clear to me that she must probably have a sort of special connection with her horse or the horse was well trained. We rode all night and through the next day without stopping once. I thought we should as the horse must have been very tired. I told the old woman my thoughts but she didn’t reply or say anything after. The soldiers didn’t stop coming after us and I wondered how their horses were still alive, but then these people don’t care about their fellow humans, surely they won’t be so bothered about a beast. I knew that if there was a bowman among them, we would have been long apprehended, stupid of the strange man not to have brought one along. The unusual thing about the whole chase was that for some unexplained reason, we kept the same distance apart, well until we got close enough to the border, where it all began to get rough.

As soon as we got to the wide path that led to the border, the old woman quickly disembarked from the horse with so much agility which surprised me and I followed her move, hoping it might get us away from these mean men. She left the horse after whispering some words to it and then headed for the huge gate separating the kingdom from the north. Soon, the men arrived and I heard one of them screaming for the gates to be shut.

“We must hurry, we must be behind the gate or even the good spirits won’t be able to save us. “She said. The men disembarked from their horses screaming for the innocent travelers to leave the path and pushing those who didn’t move on time, the unlucky got some kicks. They must have seen us come down from the horse; this wasn’t looking good at all as the huge gates were beginning to descend. We were really close to the gates when someone pulled both of us away from the crowd, and asked us to get in the back of a cart carrying hay. We were trying to resist but the man who was a soldier, going by his dress was surely not a patient one and just pushed us inside before locking the door up.

“Move Jelai and drop them at the northern gate. Tell Anna, old lady, I do not own her anything after this.” The impatient soldier said before we headed for the gate. The gates were almost down and everyone was ordered to stop but our cart was allowed to go through and I wondered why. From outside the gate, I could hear men asking if they saw a tall man with black hair and a pale old woman. I breathed a sigh of relief as I could now stop looking over my shoulders for the time being. In the tiny little place we were hidden, I faced the old lady who all this time had been staring at me and I wasn’t even aware , and I asked,

“ Who is Anna?”
