Hello Lady G, and other followers in the house. i am here today, my first time. i have just joined. My husband told about this forum yesterday and the interactions he had with you which proved to be wonderful and an eye-opener. i won,t bother you with my experience at the visa office on Wednesday and how i was refused visa, since my husband had discussed and thrashed that with you. Thank you Lady G, Kennycanny and others who contributed, my husband showed me all the priceless inputs you made.

I and my husband and three kids aged 3,5 and 8, were preparing for a visit to the US in august and December 2016, for graduation ceremony of my other Cousins. My question now is since the house has advised that i should wait for sometime b4 applying again. Should my husband not include my name as those traveling with him in the application. This may not be possible because he cannot cope with kids alone if approved. My husband wants to go alone now that i have been denied visa just two days ago leaving me and kids cos he cannot cope with the kids. What is you take on this?

love you all.
Because they denied you once does not mean they will deny you again in the future.. In fact you have better chances now that you know the right thing to do,but all the same let daddy apply first.

Option 1. Upload any nansense pix egs pix of a tree. It will reject it and give u the option to proceed without uploading.

Option 2. Reduce the size via my native way of doing it. Email the pix to yourself. If its a BB, you get the option to reduce the size.Choose the medium. It comes back to you smaller and within the appros size

Hi House,

Is there a way to update one profile in the US visa appointment system. I have gotten a new international passport which I used in paying for the Visa fee, but my old passport information e.g. passport number is locked in the system and I cannot update it with my new passport number. Do I need to create a new profile as I no longer use my old passport anymore. Thanks

The best answer is always the truth. It may sound 'not weighty' or 'somehow' to u but its the best answer. Cos you are relaxed and even if you are refusef, u can always remember the truth when u reapply.
So if he is asked that question he should tell them why he's applying now and why you aren't there. He knows best.

As a world Ajala traveller, I give double twale to LagosNIV and the entire US embassy in Nigeria

The fact that they are here on NL interacting with the populace is an evidence of how much the US wants visitors to come and see their beautiful country but still have the herculean task of protecting their borders from unwanted elements.

I watched Hilary Clinton's foreign policy speech 2 days ago on CNN and I could see the pride and joy she has for her country.

Kudos to LagosNIV, and if you were Nigerian, I would have said 'LagosNIV for President' as Lady G no kukuma want the role o!

I can also advise you on how you can become Nigerian sha, and later run for office wink I'm positive you won't chop money and clean mouth like our politicians. grin

I am one of the silent reader of this forum. This will be my first post here in almost 2 years. I thank everyone that has taken their time to share their knowledge and insights on obtaining US visa. I secured my first US visa this week at my 3rd attempt. I have a brother in US who filed for my family since 2007. My first attempt was in 2010 going for training but was refused. I attempted again in march 23rd this year, going for holiday, the VO asked me only 2 questions and denied me. I thought I was denied again because of my pending immigrant application but when I read the VO's comment here that this category of people still get visa, I then decided to give it a shot again. Below is the script of my interview:

Vo: Hi
Me: Hello
Vo: Why are you going to the US
Me: To attend training on ...... during ....... Exhibition in Texas
Vo: What do you do?
Me: I'm an ............. professional
Vo: Have you traveled before?
Me: Yes
Vo: Where & where?
Me: China, South Africa, Kenya & some west African states
Vo: Are you married?
Me: Yes
Vo: How many kids?
Me: 3
Vo: Tell me more about the ....?
Me: Please can you come again?
Vo: Tell me more about the training you are going for in Texas?
Me: .............................. is ............, we need this training in order to......
Vo: (Cut in) ok.... kept typing for about 45 secs..... pls pick up your visa in 3 working days and she stretched the white form across...

Please note that I stated my purpose at the exhibition, I learnt that from this forum!
Then, I noticed that these guys give people visa only at their discretion, while I was on the que, a woman in her mid 50s going to visit her student son in the US was issued the visa when she even stated that her son in going to pay for her trip. I can say it is just FAVOUR of God!

Thanks everyone!

Cannot agree more.
Know a family that recently was invited by their mum, a citizen and they were given visas.
People like slightlymad create a stereotype and make ppl lie unnecessary. Lies that hurt their application because their reason will not just make sense. Reading the transcripts here shows common sense in most of the decisions to grant or not. There might be a few unlucky ones but generally follows a logical trend.
My advise to ppl is to say the truth and present their case in the best possible way.

Pls VO. I need your advice cos I'm having my B1/B2 visa interview with the USA consul on the 22nd of June. My dad whose an American citizen invited me for a cultural festival in the US. Though my dad filed an immigrant petition for me some years ago but he revoked the petition best known to him,in the DS-160 form I was asked and I said the truth about my dad filing a petition for me but now he wants me to attend the cultural festival in the US. He is paying for my trip. What are my chances of getting a visa. What Questions should I be expecting on the interview ?

Previously filed for, Cultural festival in the US and your dad is paying for your trip, right? What are your strong ties to Nigeria in your own assessment? That's where the bulk of your application success or failure lies. This is the type "veryokay" (slightlyMad) can almost bet anything on methinks though

Hello,
I travelled to US in 2012 on a 3months B1visa staying 2weeks,I reapplied in 2014 and was issued a 2 year B1/B2 visa which is expiring in July 2016 which am yet to travel with. My wife applied for a B1/B2 last year to go deliver our first child but was denied. I am qualified for a dropbox but I want to reapply to be interviewed with my family for a family vacation in August. We haven't travelled together as a family before,My wife hasn't travelled out of Nigeria before but I have been to South Africa,US,Dubai. I am a Special Assistant to a State Governor.
Kindly advise if my decision to renew my visa via an application to be interviewed together with my family whom have not been issued a US visa before is in order. @LadyGuinivere

In order, as long as the resources are there, proper preparations are made, and there hasn't been a misrepresentation anywhere with the US Embassy. Don't be overly and unnecessarily confident as the cover for all though as individuals somehow have to qualify on their own for the visa too. Wish you had a travel history together as a family already sha. By and large, the odds are in your family's favor on this, unless madam has "K-Leg" somewhere. What's her profile by the way? All the best!

Two issues are disclosed here
1. Yes if u so desire, you can apply with your wife. Though u are qualified for drop box, u can choose to be interviewed.
2. The main koko is that your desicion in above may not automatically guarantee your wife will be given a visa. I don't know why she was refused the last time, maybe lack of ties or lack of preparedness. That is the issue u should be tackling.Evaluate her transcipt, maybe post it here and on the birthing thread for diverse opinions.
You are not her mouthpiece or automatic ticket to a visa. (That's what I'm assuming you believe)
Good Luck

Hello house, kindly assist with the following
1. I have a valid B2 visa which expires in July , can I reapply now for renewal before it expiration date ? Note that I have used it to travel to US once
2. Is there any separate link for drop box appointment?

This is the right time for you to renew it and also there's no separate link for dropbox except when you're filling the appointment date it will take you to the proper channel for dropbox
