Shrekandfiona, thanks. I understand clearly. My fear is that they wnt even see your good intentions attimes. Like your passport carries the New York POE but not your final destination.
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by dolphinx(m): 7:13pm On Jul 05, 2016
I don't think having a different port of entry stamp apart from your destination state would be an issue if other aspects of your travel is not suspicious.

What about flights coming in through a U.S airport(Chicago, Philadelphia) and continuing to another U.S airport which is your final destination, which of the port of entries do you think would you think will be on your passport? I reckon the airport you arrived at first in the United states.

You have a connecting ticket and you are cleared to go in and you left within the time you said at the interview, Let's say +1 day before and +1 day after.

Hope this won't raise any red flag!

You're good to go dear. Quit fretting. My poe is also different all the time however your 1-94 (landing card) states your final destination na. And am sure they monitor it somehow don't know how though.

No red flag based on what you've typed here. Journey mercy smiley

I do understand your point but if you read the transcript properly, being a student wasn't the reason for refusal but just because I have my spouse who lives in the United States. Other two colleagues whom we attended the interview together also single, got approved for the same conference. Country is Turkey and not in Nigeria. We were all Nigerians.
Oh! My bad.

But why hasn't wifey filed for you? You said you were 1st denied 2014, that's 2 years gone. If she had filed then, you won't face this.

All the best though...

Hello House, I have someone that has a visa interview on Thursday in Abuja, with the new extended public holiday, how can one confirm from the consulate new date for the interview or would it still hold on thursday?

My inner question earlier on. Lots of excuses popped in my mind, just felt "well, several factors to consider, one just can't say, plans/counter-plans, with his profile he should know better". And my assumption just might be very wrong too. Good you asked

As much as it's being said on here that having a close family member in the States doesn't deter u from getting a US tourist visa but unfortunately otherwise was the case this morning. Transcript as follows.;

V.O: Good morning (with all smiles)
Me: Good morning ma'am ( def filled with smiles too)
V.O: Why and were are you going to in the United States?
Me: To attend the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference 2016 in San Antonio, Texas and would also be visiting my wife after the conference.
V.O: What's your residential status in the country?
Me: Student
V.O Duration of the Conference?
Me: August 1-3rd
V.O: Do you know anyone in the United States?
Me: Yes! My wife.
V.O: What's her status in the States, what does she do and were does she live in the States?
Me: Registered Nurse, LPR and lives in Atlanta
V.O: How many times have you seen each other after she left your home country
Me: Twice
V.O: Where else have you being to?
Me: United Arab Emirates, Nigeria and Netherlands and Greece
V.O: I am very sorry and I need you to understand what am about to say. Looking at your information you seem qualified for a visa and I would have loved to issue you one but your wife’s presence in the United States had cost you this. IT WILL BE VERY HARD for you to get a tourist visa BECAUSE YOUR WIFE is in the United States. Please kindly tell her to put in your papers for the IV.
Me: *cuts in* I do understand but this trip isn't majorly on visiting my wife. The conference is much needed to meet up with a Professor in relation to my forthcoming internship.
V.O: I do understand but like I said your wife’s presence in the United States ........... Go ahead and put in for your IV.

This is my second time. First application was in 2014 also for a conference and btw then and now, a lot had changed in my situation. There was actually no intention to stay after the said stated date in the ds160 form.
Bro you blew it and it's because you go about it in a wrong way in which I will explain below;
1) You can be granted a visit visa even though your wife is in the U.S
2) Your wife should have put you in for IV and you can still apply for NIV for the conference.
3) Meanwhile why can't your wife come around to Turkey often to see you..not just twice especially when a U.S visa holder or LPR holder can visit turkey with less than $60 in e-visa
4) Wish there was a kid btw u guys because this will help your argument in insist on seeing your family(Wife and Kids) in the U.S

Wifey ain't a citizen yet. She's a LPR for now and waiting times for LPR holders isnt encouraging. Most times takes a minimum of 10yrs.

@House,

I am a Banking officer/Service manager at a bank branch.I have landed property and could easily get reference letter from my employer after 8yrs of working experience but with no history of travelling out. I intend visiting the US with my wife and 3 children during my vacation as soon as I get an invitation letter from a friend.

Please what are my chances and do I need any additional document to aid my chances?

Thanks for your comments. Cases to every individual differs hence visitation is limited i.e. Work related, time management. Putting in for an IV ll take forever because she's not a citizen yet.

Hi Pappyshun,

First of all, don't bother about the invitation letter, you don't need it at all. More importantly, you will have to proof to the Visa Officer that you and your famiky will return back to Nigeria after your vacation. Now, how do you proof this? Home ties! Which includes but not limited to the following: Good job, Family ties e.g marriage, children etc, travel history. It is your responsibility to proof this to the officers. Attend your interview with as much as possible documents you feel would help your cause, at the same time, I assure you that documents would most likely not be checked 95% sure.
Special advice: Don't use an agent. Do it yourself!. Dont misrepresent, Read your applications carefully before submission, Arrive for you interview in time, Make sure you know where you are visiting and why you have chosen the state for family vacation. Lastly, visa denial can be very disappointing, if it doesn't work out as planned, just apply to spend your family vacation in another country with a less strict visa policy and then reapply for US visa as a family in the future.

Good luck!

@Unknownsoja, thank you for the well articulated response. How do you mean I do not need an invitation? Will hotel reservation enhance my chances better since I will be going with myself,wife and 3 children? You also mentioned travel history as home ties which I do not meet, and the need to avoid use of agents. I would appreciate if you can shed more lights on the aforementioned.

Gracia!

Highlight the things you think you have going for you and wifey let's see from that angle. Basically, what are the things you know will bring you back home? A previous family vacation elsewhere would have been an advantage now though, but that's not the big deal here yet, you could still do without one surely.

Thought as much! But 10 years? I don't think that's correct, acquiring citizenship can turn everything around and fast-track it all in a worse case scenario. It takes time i know, i also know of one that took less than three years though, and the sponsor said part of the delay was even from his end. Seems you lost time not to have been filed for yet, two years gone, you should have been counting down now.

Okay, the trick, understand Seyewest, let the filing kickoff and you go ahead applying in between, they are hardly ever gonna let you go through without that filing process started anyways. Go this route, a double-edged advantage ahead.

Noticed the two persons i know that ever got the NIV approved having their spouse out there as LPRs, they had IV already filed for them. Oh yeah, it's adding up!

Hi house, I was sent sent an invitation letter to attend a conference by an organization, but the contact address they used in sending the IV this time around is different from the one they used to send in my previous IV, which I was denied . I guess the organisation have two contact addresses in US, though in different state. My question is, should I use the other contact address I used in my first visa form application Last year since it's the same organization or should I use the recent one on my IV Letter. Please help me..tanx.

The conference is taking place in another state while the conference organizer are based in another state.. this is the reason for the 2 addresses and maybe that's the state chapter address and the headquarter address as well. Don't get it twisted
