@femi321 I'm the dude who was grilled for 8 minutes by the VO in cubicle 5.

Good job getting into UNC. Charlotte is quite a nice town. Lots of hot chicks. Tar Heels bball is the best. You also have Duke down the road. I was almost sold when I visited the campus, but I had to decline my fully funde MBA admit to the UNC business school in favour of that of U of Michigan.

Good luck to everyone.
really? you are the man that was talking about acessing business franchise or so? the VO grilled you no be small..i didnt believe you were going to get it..you stood your ground and you were very composed. All the best sir

Some good Engineering Management schools are:

George Washington - no funding

What can I do now?

Dont be too sad and dont give up if you really want it ........ because of the time now to resumption you can defer to spring and then really work on your answers and your presentation. Know what answers best sell you and how you can show a connection between your past , where you are now and where you are going .

Not a critical question, but since you are at most times not told the exact reason for your denial, I usually tell people to just restate/paraphrase what was written on that white paper (section 214b).

@square65...thanks a bunch

What if i tell them the misconception in referring me to the school that does not offer the course i applied to study as a bases for the denial.....I think its the only visible reason for the denial.

What do u think?

Your list of potential schools are very good schools (especially those in bold), hence they are also competitive. Like someone already advised include some less competitive schools (which have funding) in your list.

You have a decent CGPA and (I might be wrong) I have a feeling you being a female engineer should favor you because of "diversity". Moreover, try and get a good score on your GRE score. I do not see TOEFL as a problem for you too.

Funding. Yes, this is critical for you as it is for more than 95 % of applicants - both local and international. So, it's a big deal. However, with good credentials you can secure a competitive Graduate Assistantship (Teaching or Research Assistantship). It is indeed possible to get here with limited finances and even do a little more than just surviving, if you have good funding.

Although it's good that you are thinking ahead of issues like financial statements at this time, I would not worry so much about that now. Concentrate on getting a good admission offer and it may just turn out that very little would be required of you financially, in a best case scenario.

Go ahead, pursue your dream!
@square66,ojap and everyone.. .. Thanks guys, I appreciate. Am beginning to check for less competitive schools to have a proper chance for the assistantship . although, I decide to still keep University of Illinois to be the strongest list, then Florida state University . Can someone teach me how to search /find out other means to be very sure about the GA of schools. Using Google, am getting some positive vibes about University of Illinois GA... And I don't want to decive myself by what posted on their website. Pls help me on the best ways to search and verify.... Thanks guys.

You should mail the program coordinators/ administrative assistants, they are always glad to provide you genuine information about anything including funding opportunities and admission questions.

No please , that might be your perspection which might be true however u dont know the voices in the VO head or what he put down if any. ... Best to stick with what was written so that at least you quoting them back and not perspection . Also you dont want to come across as argumentative. Dont draw unnecessary attention

It really wasnt a misconception. He told u of a much better school UPenn which u should have acknowledged (which will show that you have researched and know the best in that field ) that yes it might be higher quality but i applied to xx for yy reasons (obviously reasons not centered around quality in this case but other factors) . Instead you argued insisted how Murray state is better ......when it is really miles below apart

I would recommend just keep it simple by stating the 214b. Most likely u get another Vo and another set of questions .

sorry about the denial. I want to ask if you mastered what you filled in your d-160 properly. have you worked before? is your school accredited? my advice is this you can apply again if you get a date before August 8th but be prepared to answer what has changed in your application. do u have a scholarship? if you are working try and get study leave with pay from your organization. tell the vo more about your job and how it relates to the course you are going for and how you ,your organization and Nigeria would benefit from it. as you speak be passionate about it. if its difficult to get a date move it to spring. but my advice pray and fast. if you are a christain u kw what to do. wake up at night and settle it. be confident and bold pls. be rest assured that the person who denialed u wont interview u again. by the way what embassy did you go and wat window.

@Lagosismyhome...Thanks a lot you have been helpful in your responses....... Is there any need to make it known to them that Unipen does not offer my course? if it will aid my chances.

If the VO mentions it again wiith a big smile say how Upenn is great but way out of your budget. Blc the VO no drop money for u for tuition ( is it by FORCE ) , is it with his teeth u will use to pay the fees. Turn it into light hearted joke and break any tension although agreeing with him on the quality as UPenn is ivy league baba in School of B so dont argue at all .. and yes u can mention the course although for me the two course are extremely similar. Using financial for me is better than d difference between the two courses...HOWEVER

You keep coming back with this comment: Unipen does not offer my course .....let it go please and then it frees up a your defensive mood.

More likely you won't be asked the same questions.. lightning hardly strikes twice on the same spot . Except if someone in d village is pressing something grin grin . Find other good reasons for choosing Murray state , Dont argue , If you are in a difficult spot . Take a deep breath smile and use pleasantness to walk your way out of it .
