Hello VO,
I was interviewed and got approved for a B1 visa in Abuja on Monday 18th July. The VO asked me to pic up my passport in a few days time. Its been five days now and the message I get when tracking my passport online is "Your passport is still with the US embassy/consulate". I would like to know what this means as I stay outside Abuja and wouldn't want to waste my time going to DHL office if the passport is not yet there. Thank you.

A person's full application and travel history are factors in determining their eligibility. Many people have refusals in their history when their ties were weaker and then eventually qualify as they become more established.

VO please I need your attention here. The risk of posting my passport details on a public forum would not allow me to do so here. However, the surname starts with letter 'A' and the first name also starts with 'A'. Thanks

Us embassy Abuja,
A Nigerian here with a quick question from the United States, is it possible to write to the us embassy's email about the specifics of a pending visa interview and advise not to issue a visa or it would be of no use writing?

Dear VO,

Please I want to confirm if I can reapply for a non immigration visa as I was denied on July 23rd without any reasons. I applied for b1/b2 visa type, I was given an invitation to attend a training coming up in August.

Just want to know if it is advisable to reapply since all docs with me are still valid Even with the invitation letter they letter they sent to me.
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 7:36am On Jul 25, 2016
Hello Godfavourme,

A couple of things. As we repeatedly say on this thread, documents are not necessary and most likely willl not be examined at the interview.

Applicants are more than welcome to reapply at any time.

Hello vo,
Please if my sister has already filed the immigration papers for me to obtain a green card, can I still apply for tourist visa? Also is it compulsory to travel on d date of travel as indicated on the d s 160 form as I heard pple are usually turned back at the poe due to that.also if one indicated a place like California but due to circumstances stops at Florida or Texas first, could it pose any issue? Thanks .
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 1:23pm On Jul 26, 2016
Hello Jaynuj,

Yes, you can apply for a non-immigrant visa if you have an immigrant visa pending.

If you haven't even had an interview and are already planning on changing your travel plans, that seems very deceitful that the dates and location of travel suddenly change.

You should always be upfront and honest at the interview. Of course plans change, but you must be prepared to explain to the officer the reasons.

Abuja NIV

I will be going to the US on a B1/B2 visa for medical purposes and I intend to take my child who is also on a B1/B2 visa. We will be in the US for a little over 2 months. Can my 7 year child attend Elementary school while we are in the US without any restrictions due to his visa category? Will my child be accepted into school mid way into the school term till the end of term? Thank you.
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 2:31pm On Jul 27, 2016
Hello interestingleap,

It is concerning that you do not seem to understand the terms of your tourist visa. If you are coming to the U.S. as a tourist, it is absolutely not allowed to enroll your child in school. Your child needs a student visa to attend school and they would not be allowed to attend public schools. American taxpayer dollars fund public schooling and are not free services to tourists.

What about private school?
Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by abujaniv: 12:49pm On Jul 28, 2016
Hello nefertitiram,

Even private school. A tourist who enters the US and enrolls in school (public or private) is violating the terms of their visa. If you want to enroll your child in private school, you must apply for a student (F1) visa for the child.

Hello Harberdy,

We reported your post because the language that you used was offensive. We do not tolerate that on this thread and in our country. We celebrate our diversity as a nation and it's unfortunate that you stooped so low to use a derogatory term against an officer.

Your other questions cannot be answered because we will not ever comment on an individual's case.

Dear VO,

I have a valid b1/b2 visa. Having found a school and got I-20, etc, I want to apply for f1 and f2 (for my dependents). If the F1 application is denied, how does this affect the valid b1/b2, and can CWOP (Cancel Without Prejudice) be applied for the b1/b2 at the discretion of the consular?

Thanks

Thanks VO for the clarification.

Please enlighten me further, what are the consequences? I ask because an In Law went to deliver in US, spent 6mths and in the process enrolled her older 2 kids in private school. She paid over $1k a week for their fees, I'm guessing she did this on a tourist visa out of ignorance.

What's your take on this?

It's possible to qualify for a B1/B2 visa and not qualify for an F1 visa. Each time you apply for a visa, you are evaluated as a whole. If circumstances have changed or your travel shifted, it is also possible your B1/B2 will be revoked.

Her visa can be revoked as well as the visas of the children. This is abuse of a B1/B2 visa.
