you don't know Jim ovia. Jim Ovia was the 4th richest Nigeria from Forbes ranking. A position he retained for many years. Jim ovia is a philanthropist. He has made his mark and no longer pursue wealth as vigorously as he used to. I see some similarities between ovia and Bill Gates. They're rich but they're not one of those rich men that loves money more than anything else. Elumelu, Okonjo, Utomi, Obaigbena, Irabor, are all great men. We don't lack great men in Anioma land. And we don't compete between ourselves. there's mutual love and respect in Anioma land. Anioma is not even up to a state and some shameless people here are comparing us to the whole SE that's 5 States.

You are the shameless one here cuddling to Okonjo and Elumelu, both of whom don't share in your Igbo hate agenda.
Every ranking out there always but Elumelu ahead of Ovia in the rankings.

No SE person here compared Anioma with SE, it was your fellow impostor, Genieluv that started comparing SE and Anioma in her unclever attempt at creating divisions between SE and our brothers and sisters in Enu ani, whom we are so proud of .

Get away you.

SMH.....throughout this entire comment, all i saw is you pushing every blame on Anioma and refusing to accept the role SE played...such a shame.

First of all, I know every thing you just wrote up there is playing blame. Why? Because I've been called fake igbo by SE more times than I can count. Since I've been a member of NL or since you've interacted with me, have I ever showed any sign of being an igbo denier..if Sox please do me the favour and show me. But yet ironically enough, I'm among the individuals who've experienced being fake igbo by several SE in more occasion than once. In fact last month sef I had an argument with an owerri man sef regarding whether delta igbo are igbo...the dude whole heartedly stated and I quote "una claim igbo but you are not...igbo are the 5 SE states.". Funny and sad thing about that argument is the guy kept on defending how onitsha are igbo while Asaba and everybody else across the bridge are just people that "claim to be igbo" (he's exact words). Again mind you, he was arguing with ME!!!!! Ironically he's not the first SE I've met with that mindset. Few years ago, I was at this get together where ironically enough an owerri girl as well called me and my sister "fake igbo". The whole discussion was even among deltans. How it started was the owerri girl was talking about an igbo event they have yearly in america, its called umu igbo unite...all igbo be it SE or delta or river igbo kids attend. Anyway, the girl mentioned how that year there weren't much delta igbos as usual. She talked about how one of the girl she was sitting next to felt isolated when the states were being praised and they neglected to praise delta and river states igbo as well. Anyway, the urhobo girl i used to know made a comment how sad the girl must have felt. The owerri girl stated and i quoted "well they technically not igbo so that's why they weren't called." When asked why she ssid that, she said "they aren't from the 5 SE states so they aren't real igbo" (her exact words). Mind you the UIU event are for proud Igbo kids. Also mind you, me and my lil sister were sitting right there during the conversation. When I entered the convo and reminded her that I'm Igbo and from delta which isn't one of the 5 SE states. She stated and I quote "I never said you people are not igbo. I just said you are not real igbo." ( her exact words). The saddest thing about it all, the girl was born and raised in America thus that village mentality shouldn't be there. For her to think and say that, she very likely picked it up from other SE igbo. So yes, I know it wants igbo denier that started the fake igbo. It's the other way around. Igbo denier started by two thing...the desperation to survive during the biafra war and the second is SE refusing to stretch their arms as our brother...we see una as our brother but una don't. Even Asagba made a comment about it in one of his articles/interview

Evidence of what I'm saying was how UIU ran in the past...albeit allowing delta and river igbos to attend, the attendees were pretty much excluded in several of the activities. I know UIU have changed..my little sister went last year and I know she said she felt among and I'm one of their members on FB and I recall reading a river igbo girl praising them for including her people in this year event so yes, SE is starting to improve but una hold blame for some of the deniers. Your supremacy "I'm real because I'm one of the SE state, you're not because you're not from SE" mentality and lack of brotherhood played a huge role.

If not for the fact my parents drilled so much pride regarding my igbo heritage. And I take so much pride in what I am..considering the amount of time I was called fake igbo, I probably would have been one of the deniers. Infact if you checked my post when I first joined NL...I used to think you SE hated us and hated us calling ourselves igbo. Seriously I did. If not for NL opening my eyes to the evil act of North, waste, Bini, etc regarding anioma and SE igbo...I probably would have still, till this very day, think una hated us. Mind you, I lived a significant part of my life in Enugu and onitsha ( that says alot)
Bro I understand your point, both SE and anioma have their share of the blame, I joined nairaland last year and before then I believed only SE are igbos, u can't blame me though, I was born in Lagos and growing up all but two delta igbos I knew always claimed to be delta and not igbo, so it grew in my head that they are not igbos. To be honest I had to ask my mum last year if anioma are igbo after I met patriotic igbos like u here on nairaland.
The way forward is for igbo group to follow the wise words of the asagba and ensure SE, anioma and Onelga in rivers state (I care less about ikwerre) be grouped under same geopolitical zone, I believe once this is done anioma igbo denial will die within a decade.

Don't mind all these useless and disgruntled igbos. They should keep on wailing day and night for people to join them. They think they can divide Anioma with their madness, they forget that blood is thicker than water. Ika, Ndokwa and Enuani remain one from now till forever, whether some of us deny igbo or accept it, it will never change us from who we are and where we pledge our number one allegiance to.

See Nna, the fact that many Igbo people do not understand the word DIPLOMACY is not my fault. Igbos hate everyone and all they get is hatred and distancing from most people. Wise business people in Nigeria see how they can manage to form a strong relationship with our politicians in order to increase their territory, Dangote did it and it favoured him, who is to be blamed now? Dangote is such a friendly man, my Agbor girlfriend told me that Dangote, Along with Jim Ovia and some other Anioma big shots came to Agbor king's palace not too long ago, and she even had a personal chat and selfie with him, why do you think he does that?

Anyway, any jealous hater can go and write any article about Dangote, but the whole world recognizes his wealth as legal and 100% legitimate and that is all that matters to the international community. I even heard that the FG are planning to sell NLNG, bonny island to Dangote just to generate more funds for Nigeria, the same Dangote is planning to buy Arsenal FC, is it my fault that igbo business men don't think so wide or has diplomacy skills like Dangote? Abeg just negodu.

I never argued the fact that Igbos dominated nollywood, but what they have in the Nigerian movie industry is not unparalleled. There are yoruba speakers in Ghana, Togo and Benin republic who patronize Nigerian yoruba movies, not to talk of Lagos the heart of Nigeria where almost everyone speaks yoruba and watches the movies.
That of Kannywood is just so much. Did you wonder why Dstv first recognized Africa magic hausa and Yoruba b4 bringing Africa magic igbo years later?

Kannywood has been existing since 1999 and is the largest indigenous language movie industry in Africa, even Swahili does not come close.
Africa magic hausa reaches out to almost the entire 19 northern states, even so many igbos in the north star in their movies and not just that, Hausa is the most spoken native indigenous language in Africa, (it would have been Arabic but Arabic is not indigenous to Africa and Swahili is more of a trade language).
First and second language speakers of Hausa from Ghana, Niger republic, Cameroon, Chad, Benin, Togo and even up to Sudan watch hausa movies and patronize them, there are even Sudanese, Nigerien, Ghanian and Gabonese hausa actors in Kannywood. Abeg guy chill.

Do you know that there is a white woman hausa actress in Kannywood? This white woman left all her comfort in Germany and came down to Kano to learn hausa and started starring in Hausa movies. There are many of them like that. The whites are not interested in how much we can fake English language in nollywood or parade bleached skin girls with fake accent in the name of acting films, they are more interested in what we can offer from our own culture.

Hausa is just so influential that even the British broadcasting corporation (BBC), have hausa radio stations, the French, German, Portuguese and Chinese broadcasting networks broadcast in Hausa just to reach out to the over hundred million hausa speakers in Africa.

You are totally brain dead. Kannywood that cannot even boast of being popular within Nigeria itself that you are hyping? Visit any area down south and mention even the most popular Kannywood actor or actress and see if anybody will know the person. Kannywood that does not belong to Nollywood and yet Nollywood, an Igbo empire, is still number 3 in the whole world. This woman, you are a disgrace to all women in general. Your type will stand up and argue with men because you think you know but your knowledge of subject matters is totally superficial and lacking. Totally ignorant you are.

The US does not recognize Dangote's money as legal. Infact, US outlets such as wikileaks and USA Cable revealed the scam and special government assistance that supported Dangote's money making scheme, that is if you ever read the website I sent you at all. I am sure you do not know what wikileaks is and what they do in the world. Ignorant old woman making noise like she knows but you are a num.b skull.

And so? If a white woman decides to feature in Kannywood, what's so special about that this, ignorant old hag? Several white men and women have featured in Nollywood movies and even in Igbo movies too but we do not make a hoot about it. There is BBC Hausa because majority of Hausa speakers tend to be not as educated enough as the Igbos or Yorubas to understand English enough so they created a channel in Hausa to be able to reach these people. Nothing really special about that. My friend currently serving in the North says language barrier is a big issue in the North for him, even Pidgin English the people do not understand so he resorts to using body or sign language to communicate with them. This is the main reason, superficially-reasoning old woman.

If Kannywood is indigenous, Nollywood then isn't indigenous right? Nollywood which is number 3 in the whole world, surpassing the movie industries of China, Spain, Russia, Britain, etc. and what have you and ten times larger than Kannywood is a foreign industry right? For the umpteenth time I ask you, are you always this du.mb?

Sick bunch of disgruntled and disillusioned miscreants called igbos with misplaced priorities. Only leeches are always looking for people to attach to.

We pray for Anioma state, yes, but even if we get it, it will never be merged with the South-east, we will never join a region full of miscreants and children of hate, we rather remain in the south-south zone with the Edos and Deltans we have been used to from the begining.

South South Niger Delta will never join biafra

Igbo are using the support they gave to Jonathan in 2015 election as blackmail to convert Niger delta struggle to biafra. Niger delta struggle is resource control and true federalism. This deception will not work. They only supported Jonathan because they got alot of appointments under Jonathan. They are just selfish and greedy people. Niger Delta Struggle is completely different from biafra agitation. Igbo supported Obasanjo against thier own son and hero Ojukwu in 2003 election, they should go and claim yoruba instead.

As far as I am concern Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa are all benefiting from the current system. After all an Igbo man Gen Agunyi Ironsi created the Unitary System for Nigeria in 1966 that we are complaining against today. Gen Agunyi Ironsi set the foundation for the destruction of regional federalism in Nigeria. if not for his love for total control and domination (The disease of an average Igbo man), Niger delta would have be enjoying 50% resource control today. When Isaac Adaka Boro wanted to form Ijaw Nation Republic in 1966 it was Igbo Head of State Gen Agunyi Ironsi that fought him with a 12 day war.

The Igbo claim to be one of us because some South South states were part of the old Eastern region. First of all, eastern region was created by Nigeria for Nigeria convenience. It was not a decision of the nationalities that made up the old eastern region. Secondly before most people forget, today Edo and Delta state were never at anytime part of eastern region. Edo and Delta states were first part of Western region later became Midwestern region, then change to Bendel state before becoming Edo and Delta state today. Some tribes speak Yoruba in Edo and Delta state. Why is yoruba not claiming Edo and Delta state the way igbo is claiming Rivers and Delta states because some people speak ibo in those states?

Igbo may have succeeded in brainwashing some South South people that they are one of us, it is a big lie. They may have succeeded in brainwashing some of us that only hausa and yoruba is the problem of South South, it is a big lie. They are the same as far as I am concern.

The problem with Igbo is greed, self-entitlement and born to rule, control and exploit mentality. Qatar is smaller than Bayelsa in population and half d size of Bayelsa state by landmass. Bayelsa is four times the size of Singapore. if Qatar and Singapore can be a country, why cant we have an Ijaw nation as a country? Do u think Ijaw people dont want to be like Qatar and enjoy their oil alone like Qatar does? Note: Bayelsa State is d smallest state in the south south by population and second to the last by landmass!!

Below is the size of south south states and south east states. South South is almost 3 times the size of south East.
Yet the population of South east is almost 80% of south south population base on 2006 census. But by the time you add igbo who are currently leaving outside south east, you will discover that thier population is more than all the south south put together. More than 90% of the resources (oil, gas, limestones, etc) are in the south south. The whole of South East is landlock with no direct access to the sea or atlantic ocean. but almost all the south south states have direct assess to the sea and atlantic ocean. Some will say they have River Niger. River Niger is not a sea or an ocean for big Ships.

Tell me why South South Nations will want to form a country with south east if they have a choice ? all south east will bring to the table is population and domination? The total oil production from south east is not up to 10% of south south oil production!

If you are the leader of south south nations will you advice them to form a country with south east if they have the option of forming their own country alone? give a sincere answer!!

As far as I am concern, as unbrainwashed south south , there is no difference between the Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa. To me, these are three major tribe struggling and fighting for Supiriority. Whenever any of the three is loosing, he shout marginalization.

During Jonathan govt, the Igbos were gaining and were in control and were happy. The Yoruba were losing and were shouting marginalization. The hausa/fulani were not happy because they were not fully in control. For the North we can slightly understand because in the 16years of democracy (May 1999 to May 2015) the south ruled 13.3years while the North had just 2.7years

The Igbo don't love south south more than the hausa or Yoruba love us. All the three tribe are all struggling for the control of south south oil. None of the three is better than the other as far as we south south are concern.

The only place south south nationalities agree with Igbo is Nigeria should divide . However while south south clamour for succession is base on lack of true fiscal Federalism and resource control, on the other hand, igbo clamour for succession is base on IGBO BORN TO RULE, CONTROL AND EXPLOIT MENTALITY. Igbo make noise and claim d north have born to rule mentality because of Sokoto State former licence plate motto of born to rule which they have change. The People with the true born to rule mentality are d Igbo. it is because they are not having thier way that they are complaining and making all d noise all over Nigeria.

But how and why Nigeria will and should divide, what we want and what they want is as different as d distance of the earth to d moon.

South south want resource control or thier own freedom. we will support Biafra as Igbo only nation while they should support us to form our own nation or nations. But trying to add us as an appendage to Biafra will never happen.

If south south join Biafra, our individual identities will be wiped out in less than 50years. They will convert every south south nationality to Igbo. And they will so much take charge of the oil and resources with reckless abandon without any regard to d minorities.

LET EVERYONE FORMS HIS OWN NATION IF WE CAN'T GET 50% RESOURCE CONTROL. SOUTH SOUTH NATIONS DONT WANT IGBO, YORUBA OR HAUSA IN THIER NATION. WE DONT WANT ANY DOMINANT TRIBE TO CONTROL US IF OR WHEN NIGERIA DIVIDE.

They will argue that there are some igbo in rivers state, delta state and edo state. As far as i am concern Igbo speaking people in south south will join Niger delta republic or confederation. Their are Hausa people in Niger, there are Yoruba people in Benin Republic and Togo. Does that make those yoruba and hausa speaking people in those countries Nigerians?

The south south nationalities can form a confederation with United Arab Emirate template, where seven different nationalities came together to form a confederation with each nationality having some form of autonomy.

if the south east want to join the confederation they can join. We can't leave nigeria and go and form another normal single country were there is a dominant tribe. That will be moving from frying pan to fire.

Just like the United Ararb emirate asked qatar and behrain to join them, but qatar and behrain choose to form thier individual countries.

What Biafra represent is a single country with a powerful centre where a dominant tribe can control. South south dont want that. If we must fight or struggle for succession, we need a new name like "United State of niger delta" or any other name which clearly shows a union rather than a single country.

We need to set the record straight before south south nations make the mistake of south Sudan. It is more than Four years south sudan left
sudan to form thier country. Since that time south sudan has been in War while North Sudan enjoy peace. This was because nations in
south sudan came together to form a single country without ensuring that thier difference in ethnicity was fully discuss. Some
part of south sudan are now feeling marginalized. That is exactly what will happen if Igbo succeed in forcing south south nations into
Biafra. That so called Biafra wont have peace. It will be another Somalia!!!!

For peace to rain let Igbo form Biafra from the Five south east state and let the the six states in south south form a confederation or seperate nations. Anything outside this will never work.

I do not hate Igbo people. Many of my friends are Igbo. I only hate thier deceit and greed. what is good for the goose is good for the gander.
What we dont want is a dominant tribe simple. If south south join Biafra, that country will be 60% Igbo. How do you think other minorities can compete in that kind of country? Whether we like it or not we both know that Igbo are not diplomatic people by nature. That will lead to complete extinction of other tribe. in less than 50years they will make the whole Biafra Ibo without any consideration.

I dont hate Igbo. But i hate when i know the Biafra they seek is a Biafra with current south south as an appendage to it.
Why cant they support our freedom, and we will support thier freedom. Why do igbo make it look like it is wrong for Niger Delta people to seek thier own freedom outside Biafra? In biafra current south south minority will be like conquered people. God forbid that to happen.

At the Conference of Ethnic Nationalities of the South-South at Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, this week, South-South leaders dissociated themselves, their ethnic groups and states from Biafra. Ethnicities represented include Ibibio, Efik, Anang, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo, Anioma, Ikwerre, Oro and Isoko. They stated,

“We will not allow any inch of the land of the ethnic nationalities mentioned above and other lands of the South-South to be part of the ill-thought-out enterprise.

“We call for a halt to demonstrations for Biafra on our land henceforth as it touches on the collective sensibilities of our people and could provoke ethnic crisis.

“We are not only surprised but shocked that Igbos who returned to Nigeria after the fall of Biafra in January 15, 1970 with tales of woes and horrors can talk about Biafra.”

They added: “It is in the interest of Igbos that Nigeria is protected as they have more investments outside their homeland.”

In a timely message to dispel claims of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPDB) that “Anioma Nation in Delta State belongs to Biafra Republic,” he equally decried the move to scrap Maritime University, Ekerekoko, Warri South West, LGA. With this the governor has delivered a serious burden of leadership. Okowa also stated that despite the corollary or similarity in language does not make them same because of the contiguous geography. He said, “Biafran agitation, we have criticised it. Anioma land as it is said, from here, was part of Bendel State; it was part of Midwest Region. We were never part of the South East and obviously we cannot be said to be part of them. We may speak the same language, but we were never part of the South East. We were part of the Midwest; we were part of Bendel. We are now Delta State and we are Deltans.” It cannot be more emphatic than this.

Stop dragging us into Biafra, Anioma people of Delta tell agitators

INDIGENOUS People of Biafra, IPOB and its twin organisation in the struggle, Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have been at the forefront of the agitation for an independent state of Biafra in recent times.
They have as a result come up with a proposed map of Biafra territory wherein Anioma land of Delta State is included.
But Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who hails from Owa- Oyibu in Ika North-East council area within Anioma land, disowned the purported map, insisting that no part of the state was in Biafra territory ab-initio.
“We have criticized Biafran agitation.
Anioma land, as it is, from here we are part of old Bendel State, we are part of the Mid-west State, we have not been part of the South-East, so obviously, we cannot be said to be part of them.

“We may speak a similar language but we are not part of the South-East. We were part of the Mid-west which was later Bendel State. We are now Delta State and we are Deltans,” Okowa told journalists in Asaba.
Buttressing the governor’s point, Ogbueshi Paul Oliko of Umuagu quarters of Asaba told Saturday Sun that Biafran agitators who are claiming that their territory extends to Anioma land were misinformed by their leaders.
Oliko whose father was killed during the civil war, explained that during the war “what was declared as Biafra was the current South-East region. And when the war got to a particular level, our area here from Asaba to Benin to Ore was declared as Republic of Benin (ROB), we were young men at that time. There was no time Anioma was part of Biafra.
“There were two republics that were declared, Ojukwu was in charge of Biafra and when they declared ROB, it was Col. Nwawor who was the head with Benin City as headquarter. All Anioma including Warri were all involved at that time before the federal troops drove them away from Ore, Benin, Warri and pushed them to Asaba. We had the Asaba massacre before they ran across to the original Biafra.”
Oliko while applauding Governor Okowa for dissociating Anioma land from Biafra however, noted that the governor should have done more to prohibit pro-Biafra demonstration in Asaba, which has been a hotbed for the protesters in recent times, just as the governors of Rivers, Cross River and Akwa-Ibom did for the cities of Port Harcourt, Calabar and Uyo.

According to Oliko, “I think it is the weakness of our government that is making them to be using here for demonstrations. Our government is trying to play safe and it does not help anybody. Our governor was not bold enough to ban such demonstrations.
“The governors of Rivers, Cross River and Akwa-Ibom have made pronouncements prohibiting such protests. There are no more demonstrations in Port Harcourt, Calabar and Uyo because the governors are no longer tolerating the agitators.
“The towns may be in their (Biafra) map when they were still a small community, now they are all enlightened. Before, Effiong used to be Ojukwu’s deputy but the people of Calabar where Effiong came from dissociated themselves from the agitation.
“So, the current Biafra is a land locked area, Igbo speaking South- East, it has nothing to do with the South-South. Our governor mentioned it but he never gave the police order to stop them from doing their demonstration in Asaba.”

Odua Clement Ofuani toed the same line of argument, saying that the fact that Anioma people share the same linguistic affinity with the people of the South-East does not make Anioma land part of Biafra territory.

“I am sure a lot of these agitators were probably too young at the time of the civil war or were born after the war. So they need to do some research to see the area that was Biafra when Ojukwu constituted it, and he never included any part of what is present day Delta State. We share linguistic affinity with the South-East, that is clear, but in terms of this geo-political struggle, Anioma people are just not part of Biafra.

“There has been a continued effort to carve out our true identity and one that we can be comfortable with in all ramifications culturally, historically and politically. I am sure if you go to Rivers State, the Ikwerre people will tell you that they are not Igbo and there must be a reason for that even though the language from all intents and purposes is Igbo. If you also go to parts of Ndoni, they will also tell you that they are not Igbo even though they share linguistic affinity with Igbo.

“Our heritage of linguistic affinity with Igbo as an ethnic group is not questionable but whether we share the same political direction is a completely different issue because before the colonialists came, we ran independent nationhood, they did not meet us as Igbo nation, they met us as different groups of Anioma Kingdoms running their own independent affairs and dealing with their neighbors both culturally and in trade and commerce as they deemed fit. So you cannot wake today now that you are creating Biafra and incorporating Anioma into it, that is not correct.

“During the war, there were families that got caught up, one brother wearing Nigerian army uniform, another brother wearing Biafran army uniform and they all met in the war front. This happened, unfortunately, mostly to Anioma people. So you could say that there has never been that unanimity of opinion about our identity but a number of people having studied what is in our best political interest have come to the realisation that our interests are best protected as Anioma nation and not another definition that anybody may seek to impose on us.

We are Anioma people and we will relate with any other ethnic group in the way that we consider it of interest to us as Anioma people whether it is the South-East, or South-West or the North.” ple having studied what is in our best political interest have
Besides, a socio-cultural group for Anioma sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora, Ndi Anioma of Nigeria warned pro-Biafra agitators to desist from including Anioma in their territory.
Ndi Anioma of Nigeria, in a statement jointly signed on behalf of Anioma nation by Lauretta Onochie, Emeka Esogbue, Gloria Adagbon, Emmanuel Nwaokolo, Smart Ajaja, Frank Ofili, Benson Ozour, Harris Pen Ogbolu, Lawrence Egwali, Gregory Ogbolu, Ifeanyi Onwuli and Fidelis Chimokwu, noted that Biafra died permanently in 1970.

“Like most observers who followed the nature of Biafra in 1967, Ndi Anioma is of the view that Biafra died permanently in 1970 with the surrender speech made by Philip Effiong in which he emphatically stated: ‘Biafra ceases to exist’, following Col. Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu’s escape to Ivory Coast.
“In spite of this circumstance, a few resentful people of South-East origin are attempting to exploit a non-existent opportunity to make the present democratic dispensation ungovernable.

“But for posterity, Ndi-Anioma must make its position clear thus: Anioma has never been part of Biafra in history or administration. For record purposes, Anioma was first situated in the Western Region, then Midwestern Region, Bendel State, and now Delta State in the South-South. We cannot for any reason afford to be forcefully strong-armed into any region, outside the region within the South-South geographical zone.
“Henceforward, the representation of Anioma in different maps of Biafra does not and cannot amount to Anioma being part of Biafra. That can only be in the figment of the imagination of desperate irredentist adventurers who creatively made such maps to satisfy their thirst for empire-building. They may make Anioma to exist in their maps, but the world must note that it does not have our consent as we reject that tag vehemently.

“Nnamdi Kanu is not familiar with Anioma region and we cannot remember any contribution he has rendered towards the growth and development of our region. We cannot also remember him attending a mere social function of Anioma people to warrant our people to die for him.
“Frequent announcement that Anioma is part of Biafra on Radio Biafra is far from being a favour because we are not prepared to be drawn into any situation that may threaten the territorial integrity of Nigeria, nor to prosecute any war. Anioma is Anioma, not Biafra,” Ndi Anioma stated.
Besides this stand, is the position of the traditional ruler of Asaba, Asagba (Prof.) Chike Edozien who insists that the unity of Nigeria is no longer negotiable after the fratricidal war that claimed several lives including Asaba natives.

genieluv:

You are talking about Igbos but you cannot do without, Anioma and Ikwerre names. What are Don Jazzy and Duncan mighty doing on your list? I tot you igbos have completely disowned Ikwerre, Ika and Ndokwa people and are now claiming only Anochia/Oshiimili people? Well Duncan mighty is a proud Ikwerre man and Don jazzy is a proud Ukwuani man.
Even real Igbos like P-square have adopted Jos as their hometowns and hardly ever have anything to do with Anambra. So i think you can just stick to Flavour n Phyno.
Yorubas dominate 60% of Nigerian music industry and they are not shouting to make it known.
MI, Ice prince, Tu face, Praiz, Darey are from the middlebelt and made it without singing in yoruba, so nothing new about the few igbos like Phyno and Flavour. Timaya, Iyanya, Cynthia Morgan, Omawumi, Burna boy e.t.c are from the Niger delta and made it tok without singing yoruba.

Idomas are friendly to everyone, when i had not established my anioma identity, i really did not care much about Igbo vs Anioma issues infact i avoided threads on nairaland about it until i decided to take this one head on ok? If not shamelesness, how can a majority tribe as igbo compare itself with Idomas? Compare South-east with middlebelt instead or compare south-east with Niger delta to be on fair grounds.

Talking about Nigerian cities, is it my fault that igbos initiated a civil war which they lost and were defeated? Greed and desire to dominate others always brings downfall and u dont blame anyone for it.
I grew up in Jos, what federal presence are you talking of in Jos? Jos developed due to it's tin minning during precolonial times and due to the hospitality of the indigenes, Kano developed due to commerce, it was a pre colonial city. Kaduna was developed by the northern regional govt as capital since decades while Zaria developed for Abu Zaria and it's polythecnics and islamic institutions.

Talking about sea ports, i think the south we are the problems of ourselves, our man GEJ was in power but he did nothing to make warri, calabar or Rivers ports function. Akwa Ibom state govt i heard is now sponsoring the creation of a new functional port, let's how it goes ok? Instead of Akwa Ibom to cry to the FG, they decided to take the bulls by the horn and do something about it, this is how true leaders behave and not like cry babies like the south-easternerns. Rivers and Delta state govts should learn from Akwa Ibom.

I just got to my laptop an hour ago and saw all the bull-crap mentions that I got from this old hag. The time difference between here and Nigeria is 5 hours apart and this explains my delay in response.

Anyway, the P Square brothers were born and raised in Jos, and this explains their affiliation to the city but they are proud Igbo guys. You cannot take that away from them. Phyno and Flavour were born and raised in Enugu but they are from Anambra and they feel strong connections to their city of birth. Therefore, if Peter and Paul feel connected to Jos, there is nothing special about that.

Akwa Ibom has all the money and resources to build a functional sea port for itself. It receives the highest 13% derivation amongst all Niger Delta states. I can bet my $100 that you did not know this, yet you argue like you know. It has the money to support huge projects.

Don Jazzy is a proud Igbo man and sings many of his songs in Igbo. J Martins is another proud Igbo guy who is from Ika. You can only rant on this forum but you cannot take away their Igboness. Duncan Mighty has never played the Ikwere vs Igbo card and that explains why his songs grew popular amongst Igbos. He took a lesson from an Ikwerre singer of the 70s, Boro, who denied being Igbo but Ikwerre and he lost majority of his fans who happened to be Igbos from other states and has become a non-entity ever since. Sensible Ikwerre musicians that sing in Igbo and their native Ikwere dialect, which Igbos still understand, know that they do not have enough Ikwerre fans to buy their songs so they stay clear of the Ikwere vs Igbo politics to avoid upsetting their Igbo fans, who are their major fans. Duncan Mighty grew popular by singing several Igbo songs which he attributes his success today to. You cannot take away this fact.

Lol, you call it shame to compare Igbo with Idoma, that means you admit that Idoma is nothing compared to where the Igbos are. When you are the one who keeps yelling your Idoma heritage on this forum like we even give a care. Please we do not. Idomas I know are very Igbo friendly. You are just an agent of hate and darkness.

Stay away from our state – Enugu government warns MASSOB, IPOBBy Emmanuel Uzodinma on January 17, 2016

Ahead of the planned massive demonstration by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, the Enugu State Government has warned the two groups to stop creating unnecessary tension in the State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Dr. Udeuhele Ikechukwu Godwin, the
Commissioner for Information, in the State, he said government had put measures to stop any group from threatening the existing peace in the State.

According to Udeuhele: “The attention of the Enugu State Government has been drawn to the publications in the national dailies to the effect that there was tension in South – East following an alleged threat by the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB to stage a protest in all the states of the zone on Monday, January 18, 2016, over the continued detention of the Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi kanu.

“The State Government hereby distances itself from the planned protest and therefore call on the people of the state to ignore the said threat and go about their normal business as all security measures have been put in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the state.

“Consequently, we appeal to parents and guidance to advise and watch over their children and wards to ensure that they are not being used for such unlawful acts. We equally appeal to leaders in our various communities, especially Traditional Rulers to ensure that their youths do not engage in any activity that could undermine the existing peace and tranquillity in the state.”

“Enugu State Government will continue to ensure that lives and property of the citizens are protected for them to continue to enjoy more dividends of democracy”, the statement added.

The chairman of the lecture, Obi Edozien (The Asagba of Asaba), re-emphasised this point: “we Igbo people are one. We must stop fighting over irrelevancies and emphasise the essential.”
This point arose out of the tendency among Igbo people to regard some groups as not “real” Igbos on basis of dialectal differences.

.

It also exists in the form of clearly Igbo- speaking people with Igbo names and cultural patterns declaring themselves as “not Igbo” but ethnic minorities. This is very rampant among Igbo groups in the South-South zone who believe that by so self- declaring publicly, they would be more acceptable among the real minorities and allowed to take their places as ethnic minorities. Experience has, however, shown that this self-delusion hardly ever produces their desired results. Whenever the push comes to the shove, the real minorities remind them that they are Igbo people who are out to take what belongs to the minorities through the back door.

This phenomenon was evident in 2006 when former Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State (who loved to call himself a “Rivers man,” as if Rivers State is a tribe) was running for president.

Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin Clark openly declared Odili an Igbo man, arguing that the South-South president that the minorities have been agitating for was not meant to go to “an Igbo man.” Given this situation, there has been an increasing shift of paradigm.

Many Igbo groups, especially in Delta State, have decided no longer to play the masquerade.

The Obi of Asaba, Professor Edozien, actually laid out conditions he believes will cement Igbo unity permanently. Obi Edozien then called on the people of the South-East zone to support the creation of Anioma State and another for Igbo-speaking people of Rivers State to make for seven states, all of which will be lumped together in one zone or region.

Political suicide: Anioma people cannot deny being Igbo. We will be irrelevant politically if we do Peter Agba Kalu/ The Sun Publishing

There is an atmosphere of peace written all over the way to Ibusa that will tempt any writer to toy with the idea of spending few weeks in the town in order to write a book. The billboard of Fred Ajuda’s late mother welcomes you to the town as you begin to wonder where on earth is this once upon a time news making socialite shortly after that you will be Welcome to the world of Obi Modestus Emeka Nwaka, a Prince of Ibusa and President Ohaneze Ndigbo, Delta State, also executive member Anioma State Movement. He spoke to Peter Agba Kalu Sir, recently, Chief Mike Okwechime, the President National President of Izu Anioma told a local publication and I quote; “We may speak a dialect of Igbo but we are not culturally and socially Igbos by Ohaneze’s definition’’. What do you have to say?

This is nothing but falsehood and a damaging betrayal of our Igbo brothers from South East who found our son His Excellency Amb. Raph Uwechue worthy to head the very Ohaneze which he tried to ridicule. That will tell you that what Chief (Col.) Mike Nduka Okwuechime (Rtd) said is absolute fallacy of what Ohaneze stands for. I intentionally pronounced his names in full in order to show you that he is totally and entirely an Igbo. It is a pity that Okwuechime and his likes are allowing themselves to be used to subvert the Ohaneze and what the Igbo nation stands for in all ramifications

This unfortunate behavior is unexpected of a man of his age and caliber. For us to deny our Igboness is to stab our brothers across the river on the back, knowing fully well that they had to endure a 30months of near hellish suffering as a result of the revolutionary tendency of one of our own, Col. Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu. I am not trying to bring back the sad historical moment or playing on emotion to score a cheap political point. But, I think it’s wise and necessary to reflect on what transpired before, during and after the Nigerian Civil War, in order to disclose the unity of purpose of Igbo people worldwide. Sir, don’t you think singling out Okwuechime will be lying to one self, a critical look at the issues at hand will tell you that not a few people share his opinion? Our Igbo origin has never been in doubt before and after Civil War. Anioma people were known as Western Igbos before the Amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914. And in 1939, the Obi of Agbor, Obi of Idumuje-Ugboko and the Obi of Aboh, for themselves and the entire Western Igbo people, petitioned the Colonial Administration for carving out the Western Igbos from their Kits and Kins East of the Niger. Consequently, in 1956, Western Igbo leaders organized the AMA1 conferences where it was resolved that the answer to the political problems of the Western Igbos was to create a West Niger Igbo State with the Headquarters at ALIDINMA. The agitation for the creation of the West Niger Igbo State assumed the name ANIOMA after the civil war.

Have you always been your brothers-keeper or is this a sudden self-centered desperation in order to gain the support of the South Easterners in your pursuit of Anioma State creation?

I think with this, your extreme question that boarders on self assessment, it is pertinent at this point to look back and critically outline the roles of the Delta Igbo’s during the most critical period in the life and history of our brothers across the Niger. A significant officers and men of Midwestern origin-Delta-Igbos fought on the side of the Biafran Army. Col. Mike Ndukwe Okweuechime, to start with was the Chief of Linguistics, Defence headquarters, Biafran Army till the end of the civil war on January 12, 1970. Navy Commander Frank Anukwu from Ika was in charge of Biafran Navy till the end of the war. Brigadier Nwawo from Aniocha North was General Officer who commanded 4 Command (Special) Division of Biafran Army. Col. Joe Achuzie from Oshimili South was General Officer Commanding (GOC) 16 division. Late Col. B.S.A. Nwajei from Oshimili North was at a time, the Commander 14 division. Col. Ochei from Oshimili South was Commandant of School of Infantry Biafran Army. Col. Morah and Col. Henry Igboba from Aniocha North and Oshimili North, respectively fought gallantly for the survicval of Igbo people during the war. Late Major Albert Okonkwo from Oshimili North was the Administrator of the defunct Republic of Biafra Mr. George Nwanze from Oshimili North was the secretary to Odumegwu Ojukwu, Head of State defunct Republic of Biafra, to mention but a few. It is important to mention that the above top military Officers and highly respected men of substance from the then Midwestern region, did not fight as mercenaries. I want to state that as a matter of historical fact, I too fought gallantly on the side of Biafra. In fact, I came back from my studies in oversea and was confronted with the war, as Igbo people were been slaughtered all across the North, we had to ran from Jos to Ibusa where I joined Force with the Biafran Army.

Most importantly, it should not be forgotten that late Chukwuma Nzeogwu of Okpanam in Oshimili North died at Oboleke fighting on the side of Biafran Army. It is paramount to mention that late Col. Okonweze from Asaba was killed at Abeokuta during the counter Coup of July 29, 1966. Late Col. Henry Igboba from Ibusa suffered the same fate in Benin City in 1967. Late Mr. Ogwude from Ogwashiuku, a Parmanent Secretary was killed in Benin City the same 1967. The Benin City, Sapele Warri, Isheagu, Ogwashiuku and Ogbeke-Asaba massacres, to mention but a few, were reprisals against Ndigbo on both sides of the Niger Ndigbo east and west of the Niger shared a common fate during the Civil War as a direct consequence of the January 1966 Military Coup which was purportedly described as Igbo Coup.

Don’t you think Igbo delta People not just those across the Niger, but those in River State etc have not been receiving their own share of respect and acceptance that prompted Okwuechime to voice out his frustration?

The truth is that Ohaneze Ndigbo and the World Igbo Assembly (IWA) has created solid sense of belonging everywhere Igbo people reside. To buttress this fact, the brotherly relationship between Igbo South East and Anioma people is based on mutual love and respect manifesting in the election of Late Ogbueshi Dr. J.B. Azinge of Asaba as Deputy president General of Ohaneze Ndigbo before the tenure of Col. Joe Achuzia as Secretary General. The incumbent President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo is his Excellency Ambassador Raph Uwaechue of Ogwashi-Uka in Aniocha South of Delta State.

As it stands now what is the most important or if I may ask critical support the delta Igbo people need from their brothers across the Niger?

Very good! Very good question. I wanted to make the appeal even if you did not come up with the question. We want our brothers to see reason why they should come together to support Anioma State as the Sixth State to be carved out for the Igbo nation. Justice equity and fair-play demands this, the reason being in a memorandum signed by Chief Sam O. Mbakwe, Chief C.C. Onoh, Dr. Okigbo, Chief S.G. Ikoku to mention among others, that was forwarded to the then President and Commander-in-Chief, President Ibrahim Babangida and to all members of Armed forces Ruling Council, as was published (bring out document to quote date and paper) on Daily Times of Wednesday, April 17, 1991, on page 17. These great Igbo leaders after many years of Deliberation and consultation all across Igbo land jointly requested for the creation of Enugu or Wawa state from Amambra, Abia out of the old Imo and Anioma from old Bendel State.

It is on record that Enugu and Abia has sealed through, so as you can see justice equity and fair-play demands that the next state to be carved out for ndigbo should be Anioma State.

What is your opinion on Col. Gaddafi recent call for the division of Nigeria along religious lines?

Well, some one said he was mad and I asked, the man who wakes up every day and use dagger to butcher his brother, pregnant women and the one who suggest since you can not be your brothers’ keeper why not go your separate ways; who among the two is mad?

Your opinion on Igbo leaders starting from Ekwueme?

Ekwueme is a great man, but he is not using his position for the interest of Ndigbo, he is more or less playing politics with it.

IWUANYANWU?

Iwuanyanwu is a politician who is neither here or there

OJUKWU?

One of the greatest Igbo Leaders ever.

ORJI UZOR KALU?

Courageous young man, the type of leader the Igbos people need today; through out his tenure as governor he was bold and courageous like Okpara out of his love for his people. They want to make him look small, may be because of his age. But with time, Igbos will realize that he is a great lover of the Igbo Man.

RAPH UWEUECHE?

He has sacrificed a lot for the interest of Igbo man. His contributions went a long way to help the Igbo man during the war. He is committed to the well being of the Igbo man.
