Houstency: Real live observations by a Nigerian in U.S.A.
If you plan on coming here, i have some tips that will save your life
Forget about the America they show you on the T.V They're thousands of homeless people sleeping on the streets Los Angeles, New York and the big cities There are places in the USA where people still live in the cave, doesn't wear clothes or shoes and no electricity or running water There are places in New York that are 100 times worse than Ajegunle
USA is the country where you get killed for wearing a Nike or Jordans sneakers worth only $120
In the USA, you can't just walk into some streets or neighborhood you don't know like you do in Nigeria
Do you wanna know how dangerous USA is ?? Come to Compton or Chicago, you will live in Afghanistan for 7 years without being killed, you can't live in America for 2 days without being killed or your friend being killed
20 of my friends were killed last month for nothing, just sitting in their homes and they were gunned down
1. Don't argue with Americans, they're the most ignorant people on earth
2. Don't get in trouble with anyone, buying a gun is very easy, you walk into Walmart, give them $100 and they give you a gun
3. Americans glorify violence, if you go to jail or kill someone, to them you're a God, killing you will make them feel accomplished, so don't try to argue with anyone
4. Don't go to nightclubs
5. Don't go to the ghettos
6. Mind your goddam business
7. When stopped by the police, give them all your information, license, registration, proof of insurance, don't worry about going to jail if your your driving papers ain't up to date, you will spend only 1 hour in jail and you will be bailed with $65
8. American police are trigger happy, do whatever they tell you to do, don't argue, in fact lay on the floor immediately they ask you to
9. Americans talk too much like women, don't waste your precious time talking with them
10. The most dangerous country in the world is USA I'm from Nigeria and have been living in the USA for 12 years but i go to Nigeria every 6 month.
Let me tell you, the very first day i came to America, i landed in New York city, i was so disappointed and wanted to go home immediately Those fantasizing about the USA are those who haven't been to America
USA is the most dangerous country in the world Chicago is just a city in the states of Illinois, they're the murder capital of the world, Detroit is the second, California is the third
I've seen about 200 murders in the USA but i haven't seen any murder when i was in Nigeria, how is Nigeria or Africa dangerous ??
The police will kill innocent people and at the end of the day, no charges, no jail sentence, there will still be in the police force
As for the citizens, A child doesn't know who his father is because his father is in jail and will never get out, the child will have kids before the age of 23 and before the age of 27, he commits a murder and gets a 70 years prison sentence, the cycle continues and never stops Killing people is nothing to them
The number of murders that occur in Chicago and Los Angeles in a year is greater than the number of murders that happens in every country in this world put together
Always remember, USA belongs to the Indians, these people from the great Britain came into the USA in 1776 uninvited, killed all the Indians, raped their women, took their lands and named it "USA" and you think they give a fucck about your life ??
In all, if you guys can't cope with the hardships, come back to Mama Africa. No place like home! all this long story is true, if you live in the ghetto area, folks who live in middle class area do not encounter this sort of problems. 4 Likes |

You telling me shut up? Such moral degradation is a reason why someone like would get killed soon. Where I have been, lived or sojourn has no narrative whatsoever on the issue at hand. People that are well educated and in the know don't have to be everywhere to know what's happening in other places. And because you're ignorant, ill-brought up and lack the moral decency to respect your elders, I won't tell you where I live for privacy reasons. I might at some point while I typed. Catch up with me on other threads.
Your children (if you have one) sings racism songs at school every day and you think they're learning. Most nursery rhymes are written to mock and degrade black people which unfortunately, our people are still allowing their kids to sing. All boil down to lack of knowledge.
I lived in the U.K. and Ireland for 12 years, emigrated to US later. Lived in Canada, Holland, Paris, and all. I'm well rounded, and I can proudly, but not boastful that I am a citizen of the world.
So, next time you wanna come at someone for airing their knowledgeable views on social platforms, do your research of such person thoroughly before you make a fool of yourself, like you just did. I duff my heart...we dey beg for this kinda exposure |

My point is if you want to come you are always welcome to come but do not expect life here to be all cozy and bliss. The grass is not always green on the other side.
So why don't you come back? You want things to work properly without paying taxes and holding the government accountable? Is it the daily tribalism on Nairaland that's commendable? Tribalism from people of same skin is worse than racism from a different skin colour. I always say, if you must relocate abroad, do so as a legal migrant. GurlFriend: In a series from the Atlantic, a Nigerian girl named Toluse Akinlabi talks about her experience living as the only black person in her community in Ireland. Some people who had the misconception that Africans live on trees were often shocked to find out she could speak English fluently.
Read her below
Toluse also kept a blog during her year living and studying in Beijing (that’s her pictured below on the Great Wall).

Nonsense. Well, like I mentioned in my post it is not about wanting to enjoy good amenities and not pay for them. It is simply about letting Nigerians like you know that America is not heaven and not bliss as you see it in movies, so be mentally prepared for a life of continuous hard work if you want to come here. America is not for a lazy man, otherwise one better sit their lazy a.ss back home. No I'm not complaining. I'm just telling it as it is. I rarely write about this and what I wrote was simply in response to what someone else wrote. You may not like my message or what I've said but what I wrote up there is just the reality of life in America. From your post you still don't understand how the system abroad works and was designed. Everybody who comes here, regardless of one's status in the country, is faced with getting their green card after all's said and done. You may not understand what this implies because you were born in Nigeria and automatically are a citizen with no need for work permits. However, it is different for an immigrant migrating to the country and even Nigeria is starting to implement a work-permit system for migrants from other countries to apply for and work in Nigeria. It's the same here in the US. Even as a legal non-immigrant to the US, such as a visitor or student, you are still faced with the daunting task of getting your green card when you're done with school or nearing the end of your stay of your visitor's visa, except you have a family member to file for you. Nigeria no longer qualifies for the green card lottery so that's out of the option. Let me reiterate that I am not discouraging anybody to come here. If you want to come, please feel free. That doesn't mean I won't tell those interested to learn the other side of America they don't see in movies, so that they are better prepared when they arrive. America is best for those who cannot hope for a middle-class life in Nigeria despite how hard they may work. America will give you that opportunity to own a house, drive a car, enjoy the beautiful weather and roads, etc. and offer you that middle class status you would otherwise not expect to have in Nigeria, but at a price. However, for those who already have a system (very good job, successful business etc.) established and going for them, it would be silly to pack up and go to the US all in the name of going abroad. 5 to 10 years down the line you'll regret it ostensibly. As a successful person in Nigeria you can always visit the US, shop around and spend as many months as you want. Yes there's tribalism in Nigeria. Nigeria has its ills. I'm not saying Nigeria is better. I simply said each country is better for whoever makes the most out of it. I know some people who would die to come to the US. I also know some people who left the US for Nigeria after finishing their studies and went back with a game plan to succeed in Nigeria. It all depends on the individual. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

If you want to know the truth, why look at people's face to know if they like you or not. do your own thing. be matured, nice and kind to everybody. Do not be dismayed about your color. One thing I have realized about some Africans living abroad is that they show themselves too much. On the road, this category are the ones that blast music with all windows of their cars open disturbing the neighborhood. There are Africans that are seen as leaders. Just respect them because you are in their land. Akon said something sometime ago in one of his interviews, he said that America is built for the whites, ppl misunderstood him. He meant that they planned and built their country the way it will suit them, eventually, it happened that they started having visitors. Just as you may want to build your house and you do not add boys/girls qtrs. Just chill, have fun in abroad, it is worth it. If you choose to come back to Nigeria, know that there is tribal segregation too in Nigeria. So, have fun, be meek and be wise as serpent. 5 Likes |

If you are broke, WAHALA... If you are rich, they are shocked.
Being the only black Family on a long street in a high brow neighborhood of Paris was quite funny. Na so Police patrol for the area increase, only one neighbor dey greet us (and they were an Indian family that worked in the same office with my Dad and had even worked together in Nigeria before).
One day, our old neighbors Cat jumped into our compound and when we caught it and tried to return it, this woman did not come out (though we could see her peeking from her window).
And the usual when we dey stroll for street, them go cross go the other side jejely..
Online, for my Liverpool FC official Facebook page, there is a running joke of "AFRICAN EXPERT" whenever an African makes a post. They use it to mock Africans. They say things like 'Do you people have Cable TV in Africa?'
Racism is real o!! Especially in Europe and Asia. America and Canada own no bad like that again.
The only way to overcome it is to get filthy rich because na that one dey pain dem pass to see a wealthy Black Person wey dem no fit yeye. Guy, 4get all this English. If I land masef greencard 2day na go get me. Discrimination ma foot. Discrimination wey dey here sef pass dat place. At least, dia hardwork pays. Here everything na paddy 2 paddy.
