Good. All coaches give young players opportunities. But what i stand against TheGoodJoe saying Westerhof never used experience as a yard stick in team selection
Look at Westerhof's defense did u see any Rookie?

Weaterhof capped a 19years old oliseh, young Okocha and Amuneke jst like Rohr capped a 19yrs old Iheanacho, Iwobi, Ndidi, Simon, Mohammed, hu are all U20s.

Did Westerhof play any Rookie keeper or Defender all through from Algiers '90 to Tunisia 94 & USA '94.

Was there a better keeper? Not a rookie keeper.

But westerhof started this same "inexperienced" Okocha in '94 Afcon final.

Why are you guys so quick to forget that?

Look, there are always exceptions to the "experience rule". smiley

Thompson Oliha didnt play that final for reasons i cant recall. Either suspension or injury.
I hope i can find that reason on google. (No b everything dey google.)

Club football is different.

Before a coach decides to play a youngster, He has seen him for months in training. He can guage him with lower pressure games then hand him a debut.

This is Alampasu first invite under Rohr.

I just tire.

People keep making that statement. The rules do not change. You look for the best you can buy/sign (Club Football), you look for the best in each role from the country (National team football).

De Gea was the best option in the club after another young keeper Asenjo injured. If Cassilas, Reina and Valdes injured, De Gea would have become the keeper. In their junior teams he was the keeper.

That is why I do not like the experience talk. It is vague with no real value. Just select the best. I repeat Peter Rufai's experience counted for nothing in France '98. He was worse than an amateur keeper when it came to his judgment. Shorunmu would have done far better if not his injury. So the better talent was the best choice and not experience.

Every position. Pique was about 19 or 20 when he became one of the best defenders in the World. If a youngster at that age can become so commanding and brilliant, which other role deserves caution?

De Gea was 18 when he became a big part of a successful Atletico Madrid. If you are good enough, you are old enough.
ooooh i go fight with you oh! Try to get my point. National team not club football. Have stated the factors surrounding these two. National team has limited games for error, which can make a new player nervous. Most especially this Algeria match, where the stake is high, the crowd, pressure for you to impress and much more. Please try to understand my stance on this match. So fielding Alampasu can make or break him

The Alampasu may nt even end up as the Super Eagles number 1 goalie. Emmanuel Daniel is even ahead of him. What of Enaholo that benched him at U20. Another keeper may even emerge from the NPFL or Europe.

Go back from 1985 Eaglets to recent pasts. How did the goalies end up?

None of Rufai, Shoromu, Aloy Agu, Enyeama, Ejide, Ayenugba, Ikeme, Ejide ever played the Golden Eaglets.

This thing is not automatic progression.

Enaholo displaced Alampasu partly due to injury though and the fact that Alampasu went to Europe.

The Nigerian number 1 is usually a foreign based keeper. It is very hard for African keepers to make it in Europe.

If Alampasu can cement a place in Feirense when he returns from loan, then He can certainly be number 1.

Oliha, just like Adepoju lost his starting place after the quarter finals against Zaire.

At USA 94, Okocha was injured for the first two matches, which is why he only came in as a substitute in the final moments of the Argentina match and much earlier against Greece. I also think for this matches, Siasia played his role as Oliseh was the only midfielder in the starting line up for the group games.

Oliha only played one match in that world cup- coming in for an injured Amuneke against Italy

What are you waiting for? Throw kick. Lol.

I am saying that, I disagree with that understanding of National team you do not take risk with young players. Maradona was a small boy when he became key for Argentina. CR7 was a young boy playing for Portugal in the Euros. Renato Sanches, we saw him as a small boy win the Man of the match in the Euros.

The reason why it looks different in the National team is because of plenty competition for each role. So it is easy to find a better matured player who broke into the squad a long time ago than a younger one.

For instance, it is difficult to find youngsters better than Alonso and Busquets in the Spanish National team. Alonso and Busquets are there because they are better, not because they are experienced.

In Nigeria, it is difficult to find a better keeper than Enyeama. He was our number one because he was the best. Not because he was experienced.

It is about finding the best, not experience.

I have been in this game for so long to know how most of these things play out. That word "certainly".

I repeat Alampasu may never be Eagles number1 goalie. We pray to God to prolong our lives.

Enyeama was a home based goalie for a couple of years and yet he was our number1.

'Can' is the key word.. It is defnitely possible that he never becomes number 1.

Enyeama improved Immeasurably after traveling abroad. I remember, he used to be bad at crosses. Many of our local keepers are talented but lack in the technical parts of their game that can only be taught by good coaches.

At 2004 AFCON he was still home based.

I only know he was bad with keeping penalties but not bad at crosses.

Do u think Alampasu is the best goalie under the age of 23 that we have presently?
