Bro, what is important at this point is that we have established that a mistake has been made in the computation of her O'level GPA..That mistake has to be explained by the admitting university, IFE in this case.

Go on facebook, type the profs name and bring it to his notice!!

I suspect she didn't know the O'level GPA computation existed. It's new to me too, and I call myself an academic..Although I entered uni fews year short of 2 decades

I don't know how the school did it, but am not sure they showed them the working for their calculations. But I know they showed them an aggregrate score, now she wouldn't know the number of subject they used to arrive at that score. Hence her lamentation. I guess.

OP don't worry about the girl. She is happy cos she is currently a part one student of Medical Rehabilitation at OAU. And she have said she will continue with that. Maybe that was why she wasn't serious with this admission of hers. I think with she is liking Med rehab.

That's my point. The admission and GPA computation seem unclear. She submitted 7 subjects but they divided by 8, openly assuming she did the 8th subject and scored an F.

This system of qualification is quite odd. On what grounds do the grades of an Ssce result, lay a claim on the admission capacity of a university entrant other than the previous "must attain minimum credits in required subjects"? the hurdles for federal university admission are becoming outrageous- what's next? your junior ssce result? your primary schooling performance?

Clearly the examining bodies have to look into this discrepancy or at least give a basis for their high handedness.

A NORTHERNER WILL SCORE 200 IN JAMB AND 5 CREDITS(C6s) IN SSCE (ENGLISH, MATHS, BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY AND ISLAMIC STUDIES) AND HE OR SHE WILL BE GIVEN ADMISSION TO STUDY MEDICINE AND SURGERY AND YET A SOUTHERNER WILL SCORE 5As OR MORE AND THE REST ON CREDIT LEVEL 4s WITH AT LEAST 300 IN JAMB AND SHE OR HE WILL STILL BE DENIED ADMISSION SIMPLY BC SHE/HE IS NOT FROM THE NORTH!

IS IT ANYBODIES FAULT THAT THE NORTH DISADVANTAGED THEMSELVES EDUCATIONALLY?? WERE THEY NOT THE ONES WHO HAS BEEN RULING NIGERIA MORE THAN ANY OTHER REGION AND YET THEY CANT ENCOURAGE THEIR PEOPLE TO BE EDUCATIONALLY BRILLIANT LIKE THE OTHER REGIONS OF THE COUNTRY!

They uploaded the result, so the mistake was from the school.

Meanwhile, something needs to be done about this our useless admission criteria; nowhere in the world is mediocrity rewarded. What's the meaning of 'Educationally Less Privileged', and whose fault is it that someone embraces a normadic life style? Why should the northern states be given preference in everything in this country? Thereby denying other hard working Nigerians the benefit of their hard work?

And all our distinguished senators and rep members are doing nothing about it?

Shame.

exactly, I think there's more to this on her part...the provost might actually be looking at d result she submitted which might be 2 physics and calculated as one,he might not be wrong.
Cause have not seen anyone complained about just 7 sub being calculated.
Surprisingly, she don't even notice d error..which means she doesn't even understand how it works.

I am not really saying that I'm sure but you have a point there. I wouldn't be a bit suprised if her Jamb and WAEC results aren't even hers(you understand what I mean by that). This years Jamb and WAEC don turn to full time rubbish so it's hard to really understand if she is the owner. Looking at that result intensively, I do not think that it is possible for someone with B2 in Maths to get a C4 in physics, I have been in the WAEC system for a while between 2011-2013, in most cases, physics grades are better than maths grades. I will still check that her school to know if it's a malpractice zone, or if it's one of these schools that pay for good WAEC grades for marketing purposes

The mistake is with the summation of her O'level result. From what the distinguished Prof. posted above. The summation of her O'level result should be 50/64 not 44/64. Therefore her O'level score should be 78.1%. Since her JAMB is 320/400. That is 40/50=80%. 78.1+80/2=79.05%. Which is above the merit cut off. She should on merit list sir.

Infact, she is far above the cut off sir. it is a privilege to have you on Nairaland sir. These are her results below. If you calculate her points from them, she had above the merit cut off. I believe the mistake is from the computer or it operator. Actually, the system chose only 7 of her subjects instead of 8 subjects. cc: Seun, Adesegunfat, lalasticlala Let 's help this girl

Please don't expect OAU to accept subjects like fisheries, computer studies, catering and all these newly introduced subjects like home economics, civic education for screening into Medicine and Surgery, OAU only accepts the core science subjects (best cool That's why Further maths (B2) was picked from her result and computer studies (A1) was neglected.
The second point is that the quota for merit admission is 45% and the merit is irrespective of your state of origin, so for her to be admitted she must be part of the first 45/100 of the candidates that applied since she's not from any of the catchment areas which is alloted 35% and ELDS 20%.
Generally speaking now, candidates now run away from subjects like Economics, Agricultural science, Geography etc in their WASSCE, while they opt for subjects like fishery, Animal Husabandry, catering etc because of the higher chances of making distinctions in those subjects. There are chances that these subjects might not be accepted and screened for you during the POST-UTME screening depending on the department you are applying to. That's why some people would submit 9 subjects and at the end only five subjects would be picked neglecting the likes of woodworks, catering etc.

Furthermore, using the Prof calculation above she is above the merit cut off. Using my own calculations(below), she is even far above the cut off mark. Whichever one we use she is above the merit cut off.

If we choose her 8 best subjects from above, English A1(8 marks), Maths B3 (6 marks), Biology C4 (5 marks), Chemistry B3 (6 marks), Physics C4 (5 marks ), Civic Education A1(8 marks), Further Maths B2 (7 marks ), Computer science A1 (8 marks). 8+7+5+6+5+8+7+8=53, That is 53/64=82.8%.

Her JAMB UTME is 320/400=80%. (80+82.cool/2=81.4%. Her aggregate should be 81.4% sir.

Looking at her screening report below which she uploaded on Twitter, it is obvious that the computer made a mistake of computing only 7 subjects out of her O level results instead of 8 subjects. And from your calculation above sir, there is a mistake of Physics been repeated twice (even with your calculation above with Physics been repeated twice, her aggregate point should be 79.05 % sir). cc : Seun Lalasticlala Adesegunfat

OAU is not to be trusted when it comes to seeking admission into the prestigious university. They have made so many cry. I won't say so much about it but I will always advise candidates to go for UI and Unilag with Uniben conclusively.

Those aforementioned university admission is so transparent and they are reliable.
Ones u surpass their cut off, you are in.
