The truth is that in any Nigerian university setting, everybody has a candidate. From the dean to the HOD to the secretary in the Deans office sef. I know this from my time in OAU. This girls name has been swapped with somebody's candidate. It was probably this provost sef that is trying to rewrite the laws of mathematics, that swapped the girls name

The truth of the matter is that she isn't the only one in such mess I for instance had310 in jamb and beat the cutoff for med&surg in delsu which is my state but was not offered admission. It's high time all the universities in Nigeria are probed.. Am very sure there are so many of us out there with same problem. I know some people will say go to the school to complain but I know from my time in unizik that going to the school to complain will be futile that is if anyone will even listen to you.
u would have made it to unilag or UI with such score

I am not really saying that I'm sure but you have a point there. I wouldn't be a bit suprised if her Jamb and WAEC results aren't even hers(you understand what I mean by that). This years Jamb and WAEC don turn to full time rubbish so it's hard to really understand if she is the owner. Looking at that result intensively, I do not think that it is possible for someone with B2 in Maths to get a C4 in physics, I have been in the WAEC system for a while between 2011-2013, in most cases, physics grades are better than maths grades. I will still check that her school to know if it's a malpractice zone, or if it's one of these schools that pay for good WAEC grades for marketing purposes
Oga,no dey talk this kind of thing? You are trying too hard to prove a point but honestly you're not making sense at all.You once wrote jamb(I believe) and someone getting a 300+ is nothing short of pure genius&no mago mago was involved. And for your claim on her getting Maths B2 and physics C4,she may be good theoretically but maybe having her shortcomings on practical which could have made her get a C4
&besides getting Maths A1 is not a guarantee of A1 in physics.Try to appreciate Good when you see one

OP, u must be a stranger in Nigeria to think this is a mistake. Leave dat mata abegiiii, most schools in the south west wether federal or state do not like to admit students from the Niger Delta. I know what i am talking about. They deliberately did what they did to make it look like the student wasn't qualified but the real reason is tribalism. I schooled in the West and I know what we passed thru to be able to come out in one piece. Yoruba people are "majorly" tribalistic. That is no news and does not make the Ibos and Hausas better off, the difference is that the hausas are a bit mild in there show of tribalism and if peradventure u speak their language, they accept u more.

Hello People

Please go on facebook, google the prof's name and you all send him a respectful request to relook into the oversight. This is justice that we must do for the young lady.

Go login to facebook now and type his name. He is there. The prof seems nice and I believe he should respond..Not every departmental or school head will explain themselves the way the prof has done.

Go on facebook NOW!!!
He's one of the most polite and respectful person you'd ever meet, and also believes in being just.

Guy, if you are truthful, post your results like the young girl and we will do follow up.

I am interested in why our excellent students, near geniuses and geniuses are not getting admitted by our good schools in naija, after the students have worked so hard to make elite grades.

Please sir, help them out. Exactly my thought when i saw that girl's Twitter rant.

I think people like her should be considered first before bringing Catchment areas and ELDS into the equation.

Please, that girl deserves a seat to study Medicine this year.

O A U is one of the worst university in Nigeria if it comes to admission issue I could remember 2003 I was looking for admission in oau I scored 280 in jamb the cutoff then was 270 for mechanical engineering I was very hopeful that I will be offered admission later the issue of catchment area comes in that I'm from osun state catchment for osun is is 285 for this reason I was denied admission

Na wa oh..

The University has a specified number of subjects which it uses as its criteria for admission.

We need to find out the number of subjects and the specific subjects.

This is pure rubbish. In OAU where I studied, there were hundreds of students from delta state. I think they had the biggest students association in the entire school, during my time.
I agree that the admission process in Ife is fraught with plenty of irregularities. OAU is a good school so a lot of people try to get in by hook or crook. Unfortunately with this girls case, it seems the crooked admissions are gaining the upper hand and becoming more daring. To scheme out someone with 320 in Jamb and a decent WAEC result is the height of fraud, very daring fraud. If this girl seriously takes this thing up, plenty of heads will roll starting with this provost that doesn't even know simple maths and is trying to fraudulently explain his way out of his wayo.

True. I'm a student of OAU, and Prof. Fatusi is actually a really really nice man, and I am sure he would look into this matter and get this resolved. This intelligent student is definitely getting this admission, if the initial calculations were wrong. Kudos to you too for taking this up.

Proudly Great IFE!!!

Oga Provost please do the right thing...
There's nothing to be done again, the girl did not meet the merit cut off point, hence she wasn't admitted. but what the provost refused to talk about is that even tho the quota given to OAU for medicine and Surgery by MDCN is 100, OAU do admit a little bit above 100 (112-124) over the years, I'm just saying this cos I'd love to see the lady admitted because with that her olevel result and UTME result she could have gotten Medicine in all the federal universities in Nigeria even in UI and unilag who make use of just five subjects. Except maybe Unilorin who wouldn't even bother to tell you why.

Ximenez:
Please don't expect OAU to accept subjects like fisheries, computer studies, catering and all these newly introduced subjects like home economics, civic education for screening into Medicine and Surgery, OAU only accepts the core science subjects (best cool That's why Further maths (B2) was picked from her result and computer studies (A1) was neglected.
The second point is that the quota for merit admission is 45% and the merit is irrespective of your state of origin, so for her to be admitted she must be part of the first 45/100 of the candidates that applied since she's not from any of the catchment areas which is alloted 35% and ELDS 20%.
Generally speaking now, candidates now run away from subjects like Economics, Agricultural science, Geography etc in their WASSCE, while they opt for subjects like fishery, Animal Husabandry, catering etc because of the higher chances of making distinctions in those subjects. There are chances that these subjects might not be accepted and screened for you during the POST-UTME screening depending on the department you are applying to. That's why some people would submit 9 subjects and at the end only five subjects would be picked neglecting the likes of woodworks, catering etc.
students don't run away from such subjects but are rather forced into it by the federal government who introduced the new curriculum. it's also worsened by teachers most of whom are either not university graduates or gained admission themselves through the Backdoor, talking from experience .

Lol. I'm sure she'll be happier in Medicine. Medicine and Med rehab are not the same sir. If she she truly deserves to be given medicine, they should change her course abeg, except of course, she bluntly refuses.

They uploaded the result, so the mistake was from the school.

Meanwhile, something needs to be done about this our useless admission criteria; nowhere in the world is mediocrity rewarded. What's the meaning of 'Educationally Less Privileged', and whose fault is it that someone embraces a normadic life style? Why should the northern states be given preference in everything in this country? Thereby denying other hard working Nigerians the benefit of their hard work?

And all our distinguished senators and rep members are doing nothing about it?

Shame.
the fact that they got admission due to their low mark doesn't mean the school will lower their standard for them....it just giving them headstart to see if they can actually make it. after admission they have to work harder to meet up with the standard else they would be shown their way out of the sch regardless of their region......
