To ask a lady to marry you, you do the traditional things (yes, kneeling and all that). It's a special experience for somebody you love that she will retell for the rest of her life (to friends, especially rivals, mother, relatives, children). To "propose" in such a carefree manner is suggestive that you don't take her seriously or value her that much. You want the women in your family to disrespect your wife? Because they will treat her the same way you treat her.

Even if it's just for show, do it. Then at least you won't have to hear about how you didn't propose properly every time there's an argument. This is called planning ahead and reducing unnecessary noise bandwidth.

So now the guy is forming hurt pride and wants to "teach her a lesson". Is that how you deal with people you love?

But for all we know, maybe the guy is planning something special, and our girl needs to be patient. Till when, I don't know, but...

In human experiences, what makes the most impact is not what somebody did, but how they made you feel. I think the carefree manner of asking reflects his true opinion of her. If you really value somebody, you'll make the effort. She is having regrets, but I don't think her action was wrong.

Marriage should be for life, and any issues will just get magnified later on.
