tell the Deji of akure that I am the Eze of my compound and family.
Let him come and dethrone me if he feels so badly about my position.

Idiot useless he-goat of a monarch.
Afonjas and pettiness are like bread and butter
good you are the eze of your family not the eze of akure. some of you are just not smart enough to get it. disrespectful iPod yoots and empty pride are like bread and butter.
if you like call the obi of Onitsha he-goat and greet him with a sliding tackle but the moment you get to Yoruba land respect our customs and tradition

undecided tradition differs

If you see any Yoruba parading himself as King in Iboland or hausaland, he is on his own
Besides you cannot compare the widespread of the Ndigbo to that of the yorubas

I hope you read the article written by the OP very well huh
You will read where he was officially approached.
Did you also read where his father recognized the title and also settled a dispute between the 2 Eze ndigbos huh

If not please read again and tell me who is wiser the father or the son huh

Do you want to know the truth huh What he is doing is unnecessary, it portrays him as someone who has low self esteem huh

Look the Ndigbo did not start this when he was crowned king, It has been in existence even before he became the king.

Everywhere in the world, the one that organises the Ndigbo is referred to as Eze Ndigbo they in turn listen to him because they speak the same language. Who will handle them better huh

Even the Deji can reach to them quickly via their ruler. That is not to say that Deji is not the paramount king in that State undecided

Wetin them dey drag huh The traditional ruler of ondo state huh
The former king is not the father of the current king..... kingship is rotated between the royal families and it's sometimes up to 5 in a town. Call the Deji's order anything you like......There's even a clause for the King's stand on the issue "A means to check excesses". His say is final and nothing (not even the court) can stop it. The best any court can rule over the matter is out-of-court settlement and that put the Eze ndigbo matter in the hand of the King again.

The world is talking about wildlife preservation and people are making money writing on the importance of wildlife preservation and you are here talking about killing pythons. Is killing pythons what you understand by wildlife preservation?

wild life preservation is a topic for another day. the point here is customs and traditions. I won't go to IBO land and piss on their tradition. an IBO man shouldn't come to my land and do that either

abegi!!! is the eze a toddler? even a complete Illiterate ibo man knows how much we Yoruba people greet elders and kings. what move has the fakeas$ eze made to pacify the king? the chieftaincy title is not his birthright. the king has the authority to take it away and give it to someone else. there's no other motive
Funny. You are as illiterate as your dumb deji. Take away a title he did not give? How foolish!

This Deji is a low lifer, with inferiority complex.
Maybe Buhari should ban all organization with the title President.

Afonja! Go tell Emir of illorin that
Well, Ilorin never had Oba to begin with.

It was always a town governed by the Oba of Oyo until Ilorin forcefully got their independence with the help of the Fulanis who were also co-exiting with them as indigenes of the town. Afterwards, there was a fight between Alimi and Afonja on whom to become king. That was how the Emir title came to be. Moreover, the Emir is a religion title, not a traditional title and since Alimi was a Muslim, the Emir title was confined.

Well, that's not how it's done in southwest.....any group of people that wish to select a leader for themselves will need to consult the king for approval. any cultural association without the backing of the king is illegitimate since the king is regarded as the custodian of every living and nonliving things in his domain. Someone who gave his approval on something can also withdraw his support and nobody will question him..... I repeat Nobody!
Is this contained in the Nigeria constitution or what you imagine?

The Deji of Akure is so petty and seems like a trouble maker. What business of yours is who becomes the head of igbos in Akure and what they choose to call themselves as long as the leader is not called the Deji of Igbos. Eze is an Igbo tutle and Akure is not Igboland, so i don't know why he should feel threatened. In Nigeria, there is freedom of association as long as it does not go in variance with the laws of the land. if this issue goes to the court, the Deji will definitely lose.
Read my comment to owobokiri which is just below.

Kagawa10:
Your problem is you overlooked the antecedents leading to everything or maybe you're trying to be clever.

Normally, the Deji wouldn't have had any problem with the Eze Ndigbo except that the fool went into Deji's palace with his crown on and refused to remove it when told. That was when Deji banned the use of the title and what did the fool do? Went to call his fellow fools to protest in front of the palace and they were roundly flogged for their troubles!
Your brethren were the first to hit the cones of the honey bees, hence should not cry foul when the bee attack.

no. his people appointed him but all traditional/chieftaincy titles in akure must be endorsed by the Deji. so he has to right to give, withdraw or even modify the title. go to court
Deji is the one that should go to court, unless he wishes to take laws into his hands. This time around, he will be thoroughly embarrassed.

Remember when zik was supposed to be premier of the west but was fought by awolowo saying only a westener should be premier of the west, that is what started tribal bigotry in a Nigeria where someone Frm the any state could live happily in any state and even rise to a top position... There was nothing like origin then.....

Now I wonder why this tribal bigot is feeling threatened by a title that holds only ceremonial credence among the igbos
Zik was born in the North, why didn't he contest for a Nothern premier? Yeye!

@ the bolded, that is exactly my point. If I live in akure, I can go around and proclaim to the world that I am the Eze of my family and my compound in akure. As far as I don't usurp the authority of the Deji of akure over the akure pple, I am entirely within my rights to rule my compound and my family.
That is exactly the circumstance we are looking at here. The eze ndigbo is not usurping the authority of the Deji. He acknowledges that the Deji is the monarch over all akure. His pple however selected him and said be our leader in akure. Be our representative in front of the Deji. As our tradition demands, we will call u 'Eze'. That is all. If not for spite, the stupid Deji need not worry his petty head over what the igbo chose to call their leader, as long as they did not crown him another Deji and as long as his activities does not usurp the authority of the dDeji.

If dem born you well, show face for Deji Palace.
I don't like going the racist way. But sincerely, everywhere I go, the pettiness and the double standards of the average Yoruba man never ceases to amaze me.

I will have u know that I opposed the eze ndigbo when he went to the Deji palace with his crown and all, knowing it was against the Yoruba tradition. I sided with the Deji.
But this case is plain stupid. Nothing is Being contested here. The Deji is just worrying his stupid head over nothing.
And take it or leave it, there is nothing the Deji can do, constitutionally, if the eze ndigbo refuses to drop his title. In the eyes of the law, the Deji has no case. Except he will go the toutish way as usual

Then stop talking about killing pythons. There is a law in Nigeria against indiscriminate killing of wildlife with jail sentences. So if Nigeria was to be a law abiding nation, you won't be killing wildlife anyways. So if you want to talk about culture, please choose another topic aside killing wildlife.

Who the fvck told you the Deji approached the Eze for money.....listen and listen good, it's customary that every company and business in Town and cities all over Nigeria contribute towards important event in their domain. Where I did my IT in Ondo state some years back, the company gifted the king of the community #200k and a big bull as their contribution towards the town's annual festival. Every company and business association in Akure don't need to be told before they approach the coronation event committee to drop their donation. kindly do your research on this exposition.
And if one chooses not to contribute, what will happen. BTW is it one of the approved government taxes? People need to start asking questions rather than giving these nonproductive traditional leaders more than their rightful dues.

I think the deji is wrong here. it's a purely igbo affair and he has no right to interfere. Since ondo srate is yoruba land, all other tribes are 'aliens' and have the right to determine their own system of leadership so long it doesn't disrupt the peace in ondo. The Deji should focus on more pressing issue rather than these stupid threats.

Tax is paid on regular basis but dues like that are just like donations towards an event. of course, association of other tribes do go to Kings of wherever they are sojourning to drop gift and other things at the end or Beginning of a new year. it is purely voluntary.

How does d issue at hand has to do with u killing pythons? Ur analogy doesn't make sense n it is flawed. Quit looking at d issue from the surface coz I believe there is more to it. I don't see how wat a people choose to refer to their leader becomes a problem to anyone . Nobody is trying to usurp the Deji's authority or whatever. From the write up u will see d palace even solicited for the Igbos support for his coronation through the Eze ndigbo so wat den is the problem? The title has been there for long n even in Benin where I reside it's the same thing but u don't see d Oba insisting on choosing a leader or a title for the Igbos.
