obstead200:good you are the eze of your family not the eze of akure. some of you are just not smart enough to get it. disrespectful iPod yoots and empty pride are like bread and butter. if you like call the obi of Onitsha he-goat and greet him with a sliding tackle but the moment you get to Yoruba land respect our customs and tradition |

tradition differs OAUTemitayo:Besides you cannot compare the widespread of the Ndigbo to that of the yorubas |

uckennety:lie lie iPod yoot. if I kill a Python in iboland I'll be asked to perform some dvmbass rituals. it's your custom and I didn't kill a Python during my stay there. when you get to akure respect constituted authority. simple as ABC |

Wiseandtrue:The former king is not the father of the current king..... kingship is rotated between the royal families and it's sometimes up to 5 in a town. Call the Deji's order anything you like......There's even a clause for the King's stand on the issue "A means to check excesses". His say is final and nothing (not even the court) can stop it. The best any court can rule over the matter is out-of-court settlement and that put the Eze ndigbo matter in the hand of the King again. |

Jaideyone:The world is talking about wildlife preservation and people are making money writing on the importance of wildlife preservation and you are here talking about killing pythons. Is killing pythons what you understand by wildlife preservation? |
| Re: Forget The Eze Ndigbo Title —Deji Of Akure by Jaideyone(m): 1:00pm On Feb 19, 2017 |
Shayetet13:wild life preservation is a topic for another day. the point here is customs and traditions. I won't go to IBO land and piss on their tradition. an IBO man shouldn't come to my land and do that either |

Balkan:Well, Ilorin never had Oba to begin with. It was always a town governed by the Oba of Oyo until Ilorin forcefully got their independence with the help of the Fulanis who were also co-exiting with them as indigenes of the town. Afterwards, there was a fight between Alimi and Afonja on whom to become king. That was how the Emir title came to be. Moreover, the Emir is a religion title, not a traditional title and since Alimi was a Muslim, the Emir title was confined. |

| Re: Forget The Eze Ndigbo Title —Deji Of Akure by obstead200(m): 1:55pm On Feb 19, 2017 |
Jaideyone:@ the bolded, that is exactly my point. If I live in akure, I can go around and proclaim to the world that I am the Eze of my family and my compound in akure. As far as I don't usurp the authority of the Deji of akure over the akure pple, I am entirely within my rights to rule my compound and my family. That is exactly the circumstance we are looking at here. The eze ndigbo is not usurping the authority of the Deji. He acknowledges that the Deji is the monarch over all akure. His pple however selected him and said be our leader in akure. Be our representative in front of the Deji. As our tradition demands, we will call u 'Eze'. That is all. If not for spite, the stupid Deji need not worry his petty head over what the igbo chose to call their leader, as long as they did not crown him another Deji and as long as his activities does not usurp the authority of the dDeji. |

OAUTemitayo:I don't like going the racist way. But sincerely, everywhere I go, the pettiness and the double standards of the average Yoruba man never ceases to amaze me. I will have u know that I opposed the eze ndigbo when he went to the Deji palace with his crown and all, knowing it was against the Yoruba tradition. I sided with the Deji. But this case is plain stupid. Nothing is Being contested here. The Deji is just worrying his stupid head over nothing. And take it or leave it, there is nothing the Deji can do, constitutionally, if the eze ndigbo refuses to drop his title. In the eyes of the law, the Deji has no case. Except he will go the toutish way as usual |
| Re: Forget The Eze Ndigbo Title —Deji Of Akure by Nobody: 2:03pm On Feb 19, 2017 |
Jaideyone:Then stop talking about killing pythons. There is a law in Nigeria against indiscriminate killing of wildlife with jail sentences. So if Nigeria was to be a law abiding nation, you won't be killing wildlife anyways. So if you want to talk about culture, please choose another topic aside killing wildlife. |

Horllamideh:And if one chooses not to contribute, what will happen. BTW is it one of the approved government taxes? People need to start asking questions rather than giving these nonproductive traditional leaders more than their rightful dues. |

modath:Part of the reason d country is the way it is now n am sure u r proud of it. The same way dose poor students were asked to respect constituted authority even tho their school has been on strike for months. U don't care to know who is right or wrong but people r supposed to smile n take whatever is dished to them from "constituted authorities " ur biase can be smelt from miles away |

I think the deji is wrong here. it's a purely igbo affair and he has no right to interfere. Since ondo srate is yoruba land, all other tribes are 'aliens' and have the right to determine their own system of leadership so long it doesn't disrupt the peace in ondo. The Deji should focus on more pressing issue rather than these stupid threats. |

Lightening:Tax is paid on regular basis but dues like that are just like donations towards an event. of course, association of other tribes do go to Kings of wherever they are sojourning to drop gift and other things at the end or Beginning of a new year. it is purely voluntary. |

| Re: Forget The Eze Ndigbo Title —Deji Of Akure by tifany89(m): 2:36pm On Feb 19, 2017 |
Jaideyone:Please u r educated speak like someone dat is. U r arguments so far does not hold water. U know d truth but u r just trying to be partial here out of ethnic sentiments. How does d issue at hand has to do with u killing pythons? Ur analogy doesn't make sense n it is flawed. Quit looking at d issue from the surface coz I believe there is more to it. I don't see how wat a people choose to refer to their leader becomes a problem to anyone . Nobody is trying to usurp the Deji's authority or whatever. From the write up u will see d palace even solicited for the Igbos support for his coronation through the Eze ndigbo so wat den is the problem? The title has been there for long n even in Benin where I reside it's the same thing but u don't see d Oba insisting on choosing a leader or a title for the Igbos. |
