Gurus in the house(@ walspring, texrems, Oludare and so on), I greet u all. I just discovered this site this evening, and would love to share my case with the house so that i can know the right path to follow....I applied for F1 visa last year December( precisely December 2nd )and was refused....let me quickly share my transcript before I seek your suggestions....

ME: Good morning
VO: good morning
ME: hows work?
VO: she laughed and said Fine...Why are going to the US?
ME: i'm going there to study, to pursue Masters degree in Business Administration @ WSU.
VO: how many schools did you applied to?
ME: 3 schools, and i mentioned the schools.
VO: why WSU?
ME: I came across an article from a Professor in WSU, and i got captivated by...VO cuts in and said that is not a good reason, and asked if there was any other reason..ME: i said yes, and continued that the positive response i got on my area of concentration from Professor Marshal J.B who I intend yo work with when i get to school, made me choose WSU....VO: she just gave me a refusal letter.

I just got a new I-20 with the same old Sevis number from WSU for Summer session, and i plan to re-appear next month for F1 visa. Please tell me how to be successful during my next interview at the Embassy....i mean what i need to work on so as to get my visa approved this time around...thank you.
You went sight-seeing at the embassy.

A picker is someone who sometimes doesn't know he/she is in the middle of a scam and helps a scammer send money to his most preferred location. A picker can be a client who refused to pay, a client who has been exhausted, a client who is greedy and maybe collects percentage. Usually a picker doesn't know he is a picker until he gets caught.

How about you tell us how you know bout all these plus who is a client? Who is an exhausted client? Who is a client who refused to pay? Who's a greedy client? What percentage are they collecting and why? Why will a picker get caught?

Kindly elucidate on my curiosity plus how you know of all these process as most of us don't know. grin lipsrsealed undecided

Good day all, I will be graduating in few months time; i've been preparing for the necessary pre-graduate school exams since last year (not really intense though). However, i will take the exams 2 months after my last UG exam.
My current profile goes thus;

Bs : Economics and Statistics
cgpa: 4.1/5.0 (after 7 semesters, my final semester just commenced)
proposed degree: Phd [fully funded]
Experience: UG research assistant
proposed Area of specialty: Econometrics, Quantitative Economics
GRE: work in progress
TOEFL: work in progress
proposed schools;
UNIVERSITY of Texas, Dallas
Binghamton University, NY
University of Houston, Texas.

I came up with these schools after some thorough research. I would really love to know if these aforementioned schools suit my profile/field. Also, i would'nt mind if anyone on here could help recommend some schools too.
cc: gunther6 GboyegaD Joeluv.
Thanks.

Based on your post, I'll suggest you focus on your final semester plus preparation for GRE for now because you really don't want to stuff your head up with distractions in your last UG hurdle and there are over a thousand and one schools with great offers; provided you portray a very good and competitive profile.

While you are at that, you can also use your free time surfing the internet in search of schools correlating to your program of interest, GRE/TOEFL study materials and possible funding opportunities. By the time you re done with your final semester, you would have gotten a handful of schools to select from.

Hello
Please I was refused a B1/B2 visa in 2014 to attend a seminar in the US. Then time I was in my first year at the University and I did indicated it clearly that I am a University student. I only spent two years in school and then withdrew because I wasn't given my preferred course of study in the second year. I currently work in the family business and I have applied and accepted to study in a reputable school in the US. I am very confused honestly because what if the VO says why didn't I finish the course I was doing .
I am being completely honest with my situation. i am going to begin as a freshman in the university I got accepted into in the US.
I hope my situation isn't very complicated.

you're situation can be very tricky and needs some serious thoughts..maybe the truth can make it easier for you or maybe Not. you need serious thoughts on this...wait for the uncles and aunties to come first...wait a minute you asked "what If the vo asks why you didn't finish"? simple you never really liked what you wer studying as it wasn't your field/choice of study but instead of dropping out and and staying home looking for schools, to Pursue your dream And fulfil your heart desires grin, you decided too keep going until you found the institution that could give you what you want rather than staying home waiting.

Check toefl website for current price. WES is for evaluation . You order your school to send your transcript to WES for evaluation, after evaluation you can send your transcript to any school in the USA .

I would suggest you focus more on your final semester since applications for Fall 2018 does not start until much later in the year. As for schools, I would advice you raise your bar a bit and try to do excellently well in the GRE.
Best of luck in your final semester.

You are to convert your naira to dollar equivalent because you won't be paying your tuition fee with naira

Good day all, I stumbled upon this thread by happenstance and I felt a bit sad that I could have done better at the whole process if I had received quality advise from experienced members of the house. However, all is not lost. I applied for PhD in Environmental HEalth in 9 schools in the US to increase my chaances of securing funding. So far, I've received 2 acceptances but unfortunately without funding. The first one is from University of Iowa and my advisor there is quite sympathetic and a perfect match for my research interest, however she would not have another grant till march next year. So she advised me to defer till fall 2018. I have tried talking to the graduate coordinator about GAa/RAs/TAs but unfortunately none is available for me.
My stats are: GRE :306, TOefl: 105, Undergrad GPA:3.3 MPH(masters) GPA: 3.75.
The other. School is University of Oklahoma. Same thing preferred advisor does not av funding and no assistanship position also.
I have not gotten any response from the remaining schools but hopefully I will get a funded program. The wait is just so excruciating but one has no choice.

Exactly my thought. It's just for the sender to go to any cash & check place or grocery store that does WU, obtain, fill and submit the form and the cashier finishes the process within 2 mins or login to https://www.westernunion.com/us/en/home.html create an account and get it done in just a few clicks. I have used both methods before. The online method is more convenient because the sender can use debit card, credit card or bank account to pay directly to your Nigerian bank account or in person in naira/dollar.
