Good day all....please I have 2 questions and I will be needing clarification.
1. Pls can my LO who is an American citizen access free healthcare in the states? If yes, how do we go about it pls? She's meant to undergo a medical procedure which is not an emergency and since I will be traveling with her in August to have baby no 2,I'm considering doing it over there. Pls I hope there are no negative effects to this. Anyone with such experience can pls throw more light.

2.Has anyone put his/her LOs in a crèche or playgroup while on this birthing journey? From what age can they be in such schools and is it free for American citizens?

3. Any elpaso mums traveling btw late July and August should pls holla @ me,we could hook up for accommodation and other logistics.

Thanks all.

You don't pay tax in the US or to the US govt,as a result, your child is not entitled to free medical care in the us.so,in other to avoid 'gobe' hold your money jeje.
As for the creche,i have not heard of any form of free creche in the US o

I really wonder how you feed on being sarcastic and impolite with ur comments........kindly use the wake pass button next time.

TWoods:

This is why CBP officers pull you over at POEs. There is no free healthcare in the US. It comes out of our paychecks every month. You are responsible financially for your child's healthcare. If the consular officers find out, you will find it difficult to get a US visa again.

No free creche. You have to pay for it... daycares can be quite expensive so plan ahead. On the other hand, you can find private baby sitters... consider planning towards at least $20/day for teenage babysitters. If your child is younger than 5 then the public school option may not be open to you. I've heard that Houston schools are not the best though... at least most of my friends there are opting for fee-paying private schools instead of the free public schools.

Bottomline, its troubling that you're already hunting for "freebies" just because you found a VO gullible enough to grant you a visa to birth your child here. You do not contribute anything to the society, why should you expect freebies for your child? Who do you think pays for those freebies?

Thanks dear

Shawbabe:

Talk about being ready to start milking the benefits lol cheesy

Well to answer both your questions, as far as I know, the answer to your questions are NO! You are liable for anything your child uses here in the US. Medicals and daycare. US aint Canada that free health starts from birth. So my advice is to factor in the expense for your toddler too on this trip. Becoz they'll come for you if you have the government pay for her treatment. Well either the government or TWoods comes for you grin

Seriously though, you can't use free healthcare for her. There's no free healthcare in the U.S. Someone is paying somewhere, you (insurance, works, etc) or the government.

Fraud should not be condoned with false politeness.

Your culture of "waka pass" is why you need to fly 2000 miles to get your child healthcare in the US.

What fraud has she done? She is asking questions to know what she doesn't know,. And i think the best is to answer or educate her in a polite way, not being harsh on her. It seems u derive joy by insulting people.

Hahahaaa! I told you either the government or TWoods will come for you. grin

I always find his sarcasm hilarious! Or maybe it's the fact that it drives yall sensitive folks crazy lol.

On the real though Cutieaidomo, it's amazing how quick you wanna start depending on the system already. But I understand you probably just needed clarification. If she has medical treatment in the US without you paying for it, it's as bad as having your child here and resorting to Medicaid, etc.

Thanks a lot for ur answer. One more thing...Pls does this correspondence include any other thing apart from the price quotations from the doctor? Cos that's all he sent to me.

sup dear, the one I used in 2015 had d maximum time an international pregy Momma is accepted at d hospitals, d test they accept and their price quote.

Though details were written by d doc on d body of d email while the quote was sent as an attachment.

they all make up d correspondence.

My renewal was via drop box so i just contacted d hospital dat I used to send me their bill dat I intend to use at Poe.

ermmm... Just in case nobody here answers you, you can try asking google the question.
Search for something like "Obstetrician at Inova fair oaks Virginia" and you might just be surprised at all the contacts you would get.
Send emails to them or just pick up your phone & call and you'll get the charges you desire wink wink

Considering the number of horror in-law stories I've read here, you might want to consider getting your own place for peace of mind.

You are under the care of doctors, they have to discharge you and your baby, both have to be healthy enough to be discharged.
You should (at least) have the solvency for the recommended health care and enough should your health dictate that you require a CS. Decisions on the health of you and your baby should not be based on a watered down budget.

Pls keep us posted on the airline you eventually decide to use and the price you get. Thanks.

Pardon my unsolicited advice but as for accommodation, I'd have a solid Plan B if I were you.
