In the spirit of giving back I wish to share my POE experience. left Lagos yesterday Wednesday 26th April through Qatar airline at 32weeks + 2days. Submitted my Med Cert and MEDIF via email to the airline on Monday. Got to the airport early. Went to port health got a med cert, paid 1500 for it. Had all my documents put together. At Doha, my name was announced that I was to see a US immigration officer. I confidently went to him.
Officer: Hello
Me: Hi. How are u doing
Officer : Fine and u. What's your purpose of visit
Me: Child birth
Officer: Do you have a Dr
Me: Yes. Called the name of the dr and hospital
Officer: K, where will you be staying
Me: gave him my brother-in-law's address
Officer: What do u do for a living.
Me: Work for the FG in bleep org
Officer: Do have a safe trip
Me: Thanks

Thank you firsttymum God bless you for taking time out to answer my questions. God bless all contributors to this page.
Awwww I'm just seeing this... God bless you too darling...

Pls o.. Con some one make me understand d difference between birth centres and hospitals.. Heard birth center is cheaper but is it OK?

Birth centres is same as church maternity centres/ile agbebi here in Nigeria.
In birth centres, there are no doctors there just midwives and if anything goes wrong, you are in a pot of soup as they would have to refer you to a teaching hospital which would end up been more expensive cos you come in as emergency that's even if you have not lost your child.

Miarose:
Well, I just came back yesterday from California with my baby, normal delivery.
The city I stayed in is riverside. The cost breakdown is below;
Doctor fee is 2000$. Fee is same for either normal delivery or cs.
Hospital fee is 1650$ for a day stay for normal delivery. Cs is 4400 for 3 day stay. Extra $500 comes in for extra baby ( twins).
Epidural is 550.
Induction is 300.
Hospital is parkview community hospital riverside. The other hospital riverside community hospital has the same rate too for cash payment.
I spent a total of 3950$ for giving birth there.
The ped I used cost me only 100$. Visit to the hospital to discharge baby is free. The 100$ comes when you visit his office on baby first appointment.
Hepatitis b vaccine is 35$ with him.

Riverside county is about 1 hr from LA. You will have to make more enquiries on the cost of accommodation and transportation. I stayed with a relative so didn't spend on those two.
please I need ur assistant on Doctor's contact and hospital contact. U can contact me via latifatagboluaje@gmail.com
Thanks.
