That is over there na. In Nigeria, no one does that Shi on a public level. So there you have it. There is a deep rot in our society. Even abroad, people die due to severe reaction from administered medications. Shit happens over there too.

And guess what happened to those people? They became rich. Which is why no medical practioner want's to make a mistake because you will pay dearly. In Nigeria it is business as usual. Mistakes happen yes, but normal citizens don't blame the patient.

I don't see anyone blame the patient for his condition here. Am I missing something?

DrObum:
This is likely to be Steven Johnson's Syndrome.
A rare adverse reaction to some medications.

Doesn't mean the drug was expired or the nurse was wrong.
Could just happen.

God help her though.
you are so fucking right......dope!!!!!...
thats the answer not any expired drugs her body reacted to the drugs.....

You must be kidding me!! Not the nurse fault?! Who administer injections/drugs, without asking questions, or accessing the persons medical history. And the post said cold, them don give u injection b4 because of cold?
Yet people would not desist from patronising chemists abi......now money would still come out to take the kid to a hospital which should have been what could have been done in the first instance.....others would not still learn......its really unfortunate what happened.....but the so called nurse only operated based on her level of education....

Calm yourself. It's an adeverse reaction. Nurses do administer injections , transfuse blood , deliver babies and give dialysis treatment. An allergic reaction to the ingredients of the injection happens nothing to do with the nurse.
Just as some people are allergic to penicillin. How do you know you are allergic to it? It's given and your body react.
There's what is called history taking before drugs are administered! in developed countries, it could involve what's called pharmacogenetic testing before drugs are given. Don't tell me you are a nurse and still typed the above.

Who diagnosed the child of the ''malaria'' and determined that that drug was suitable for her condition?? Do you know there's what is called 'history taking' that can help to determine if a particular drug will be appropriate for a patient or not? So much ignorance in nigeria!

Well maybe not blame but diverting the blame from whoever prescribed the medication.
Re: Little Girl Takes An Injection From A Nurse And This Happens To Her (Photos) by Nobody: 1:02pm On May 21, 2017
First of all what she is suffering from is called Steven Johnson's syndrome, it an adverse drug reaction, especially some anti malaria drugs like fansidar. If the drugs are fake, it can also cause such. Steven johnson can be very fatal. It is not the nurse, it could happen to anybody. We can only pray for the girl instead of abusing girls. Are you from deeperlife. Please refrain from making ignorant points and stop looking for people to blame.

that's why i am of the view that drugs need to be controlled to ensure that only licensed people administer drugs, so we can sieze their license in the event of malpractice.

How many people have you taken a history from and you ask, do you react to any drug and they tell you yes. You have forgotten that the average nigerian patient is a good liar. Nobody knew the girl would react to the drug.

And if that history does not exist? Look at the context of the argument. I am responding to that post not what I do in my practice.

A lot people react to so many things, even Paracetamol could course this kind of damage to the body, the only problem there is that a lot of people don't even no that they react to a particular type of drug until they use it, it can happen to anybody, anywhere at any time. God will heal the patient

Lol. Nigerians would never learn.

Peeps be shouting medical history. How many people even know thier own medical history.

Adverse drug reaction is not known till it happens .

If you are to take anything away from here know that there's a condition called Steven Johnson syndrome caused by reaction to certain drugs.

Don't go shouting quack and expired drugs up and down.

The nurse administers, the doctor prescribes and the pharmacist dispenses the patient has an adverse reaction that has not been documented because no one knew about it even the patient was aware of it. Who exactly is guilty of malpractice here?

History taking does not just involve oral accounts. it could involve taking some blood samples and runing some simple genetic analysis and matching the result against a standard. That is why the first place to go when you are sick is the hospital where you can see professionals to treat the condition holistically and then a pharmacy where the pharmacist can council you and give you the right drugs.

Sorry but i respectfully agree to disagree with you bco it's still a crime. Before giving a child or anybody an injection or drug, one should know the side effects it may have on that particular patient especially if one goes by the professional name "nurse". So shit doesn't just happen it mostly happen because of negligence.

That's what you don't understand. A person with no known adverse reaction will never know whether he/she reacts to the said drug until the adverse reaction occurs. No matter the history taken. You have to take the drugs first to ascertain the adverse reaction. A person with a known history of any adverse reaction to a particular medication is NEVER given the said drug EVER. Patients that reacts to chloroquine prefers other antimalarial medications and if you've never taken chloroquine how will know that you reacts to it? Eeee
And meanwhile,.....this is not a side effect it is an adverse reaction sir. comprende. As I wrote earlier, sh!t happens.

History taking is actually the oral account, those other ones you said are called investigations or workup, which medical school did u go to sef?

she z currently fighting for her life........ At this moment she has a swollen stomach which sounded as if filled with air. She can barely breathe, talk, see and even eat. This is because these passages are blocked due to the damages caused by the injection.

Little ofeyinwa has no mother, she's been taken care of by her aunty whom she lives with.

According to her, they have been in the hospital for three weeks yet her condition is still d same.

Please take time to pray for her and quick recovery.

maybe I'm wrong and the drug z not expired, that does not warrant the nurse to administer it without proper consultation...... I'm not a medical personnel, but I understand that people react to stuffs they're allergic to. This is what the nurse should have inquired about before giving her the treatment............ U would understand more if this little girl is your loved one.

It's really painful. I lost my younger sister to drug reaction. She took ibuprofen because she had body pains. Her body began to swell, from one test to another. Yet nothing was found, Plus lack of medical personnel in the school health center, she died within 10 days

I was not expecting such questions from nurses and doctors in this forum because they are already aware of what I meant.
but for those that are not doctors or nurse, this is it
a moving car causes the otholits( the organs in the human ear for gravity, linear acceleration and speed) to cause dizziness. as the car moves the otholiths continue to rotate.
because my own otoliths has a poorer ability to sense motion, stop and movement of cars. I begin to feel dizzy, then the fuel from the car reacts instantly and I throw up or vomit.
I feel a little bit comfortable only if the car is in a very high speed. constant speed. straight motion and all the windows of the car is opened.
that is why I also don't enter a vulciperator!
I understand U Perfectly, same tin hapens to a frnd of mine as well

I onli asked cos u sed "car that uses fuel" and nt abt the cos of Ur vimiting... I hope U understand nw cos all cars(in 9ja atlst) for nw use FUEL

Fyi, i am a professional. Next time do your research before you jump into my mention. Don't make it seem like all nurses are daft. if you are ''nurse eliza'', i know many well trained nurses who are good in what they do.
