Hello House, i need a candid opinion of a tested investor on the best 5 stock to invest N1,5M .Noteby ,i am investing for the future,Not for immediate gain.
The primary aim is for retirement in 18 years time,if God says so. Current price of the equity is not a factor. The basis is future prospect.
Thanks as i await meaningful contribution's.

Based on the information you provided, the following stocks below meet your criteria:

1. CSCS
2. FrieslandCampina or Nigerian Breweries
3. Continental Re-Insurance
4. Julius Berger or Presco or Total
5. Stanbic IBTC or GTB

NB: It is important that you enter at bargain prices so that the value and dividends of your stocks can be more rewarding when you retire.

Good luck.

The best time to buy stocks is when so many bad news is trailing the market or when bad news is following a stock, u just risk it and sell at the peak of Good news.....To all newbies just wait agian for Grand Pa bear again to take position, As for me make I finally go enjoy my Loot till Grand Pa bear rears its beautiful head

I'll advice you to go for "fbnh" but hmmmm! also be ready for rapture peradventure Christ comes before then. For me, I do stock as one would do business. I buy, sell and can equally buy back same stock at the right time, if they are still on profit path. I'll continue doing this until the day I'll leave everything for antichrist. I pray that God help me to make rapture. I'll advice you do so, cause no one can accurately predict the future of stocks.

-Monthly is becoming bullish (which is good for the stock)
-Weekly is bullish
-Daily is depreciating and becoming bearish after negative divergence on Price and MACD-H
-Pullback most likely. Volume low on pullback indicating pullback might be shallow
-Watch out for the highlighted level for possible reversal IF MARKET POSITIVE SENTIMENT CONTINUES
-If Fundamental is good, km 2.0 is bankable with long-term continue to show bullishness

its just sad people like PETERICHY would have discouraged some newbies from enjoying this current loot ..He kept shouting sell in MAY ! I wonder what he gain from such acts. Am sure he would re-appear during the next bear run and say "I told you" forgeting people have banked profit in between
I advice people to kill pride in their life and God would open their eyes to see hidden stuffs. How should one end his saying with prideful statements like "THE OCTOPUS" or "THE BIG SMART GUY". don't forget that pride chased king Nebuchadnezzar into the bush, where he ate grass for 7 years. Hope some people are not eating grass in the bush already. grin

Let me begin by stating that you have got the right mindset for your plan as you sound futuristic.
The best investments for your temperament and expectations are in stocks with sound fundamentals and that pay interim and final dividends.

The idea is to not just depend on capital appreciation alone for the growth of your investment, but to earn regular dividends for reinvestment which will give your investment portfolio an assured but aggressive growth.

The following 5 stocks are my recommendation in no specific order of preference:
1. UBA - (Consistent interim & final dividend. Great room for capital appreciation)
2. FBNH - (Fundamentals being worked on by management. Dividend paying with serious room for capital appreciation)
3. ZENITH BANK - (Consistent interim & final dividend. Lots of catching up to do with GTB hence more room for capital appreciation)
4. UCAP - (Their recent success in listing Eurobond & Wealth For Women Fund comes to mind. Very substantial dividend paying culture)
5. DANGOTE FLOUR - (Verifiable progress recorded in turn around project. Huge capital appreciation expected as a consequence of consistent handsome dividend payout in the nearest future)

If you invested N50,000 to buy 10,000 shares of GTB during the public offer in 2004 when it sold for N5.00 per share, your bonus shares would have added and increased your shares from 10,000 to 59,181 shares without spending any more money!
Your N50,000 investested 13 years ago is worth N2,087,905 as at closing price of GTB today - N35.28!
This is without adding all the dividends received in the 13 years period.
You can never go wrong investing as planned sir.
Just keep the focus and you can be sure of a far better tomorrow.

I wish to bookmark this page, for a review of the performance of these stocks in 2-5yrs.

Bank stocks are too risky for such long term investments. I remember Intercontinental, Oceanic, Finbank etc and even skye that held lots of promise had good fundamentals anf paid good dividend, the only took a short while to deteriorate. Bad management is something that can easily happen and destroy a company in less than a year(if you doubt me ask FBNH) banks are too volatile. As for oil stocks, no one knows whether oil will still be relevant in 18yrs. So if u want long term, just buy land.
