They moved from one room to another, searching every nook and cranny of the rooms keenly, but couldn't see Baba. They stood with their hands akimbo, sweating profusely, wondering how Baba escaped. They were seriously confused.

"This man mustn't escape." Cynthia said.

"Do you have any idea of where we could trace him to?" Uche asked.

"I can't even say. Wait, let me find out from Tunde's mother if she could bail us out." Cynthia replied.

"Please do on time. We need to get the work done as fast as possible."

Cynthia took out her touch screen phone and dialled her number. And the call was picked up without hesitation.

Cynthia explained situation of things to her; how far they have gone, the life they had eliminated and their current challenge.

On hearing that, Tunde's mother got shocked. She was overshadowed with tension. Just immediately, she got soggy up with sweat.

"So, how may I be of help?" Tunde's mother asked out of tension.

"Probably you know his hiding place." Cynthia replied.

"It's only Mama Shade could say something about that. And it will be somehow suspicious if I try to find out from her. Except if you could check the round hut at the backyard of the house. But hope you're well armed because entering that place might be deadly?"

"Alright ma. Don't bother anymore. We will improvise." Cynthia said and dropped the call.

"How far? Anyway out?" Uche asked curiously.

"Let's get out of here first." Cynthia replied.

"Any danger ahead?" Uche anxiously again.

"There might be if we stay long. So, let's move." Cynthia replied and led the way. Then, Uche followed.

When they got to a point, Uche halted and commanded Cynthia to wait.

"Wait Cynthia. Where are we running to? Where? Why do we have to leave that place when our mission is not yet completed?" Uche asked annoyingly with raised tone and eyebrows.

"Calm down Uche. We are in into this together. So, let's take it easy. The madam has described a place where we could likely get him, but with the way she described it, we have to be fully armed for it could be brutal and involve our lives if careless."

"Did you tell me this before we left that place? Hun?" Uche asked furiously with raised tone.

"Now that you have heard, what are you intending to do?" Cynthia asked calmly, trying to control herself.

Uche's eyes were glued to her with hatred. He felt like attacking her, but later control her temper.

"Listen Cynthia. We are here on a mission and the mission must be accomplished before we leave here. You know who I am. You know I fear nothing. And I hate betrayals. I have signed for death before I left home: is either we kill him or he kills us. One must happen today. So, guide me to the suggested place, now."

Uche's reaction got Cynthia unaware. Fear gripped her. "Signed for what? Death? God forbid. I'm only here to serve my fatherland not to die on my fatherland for Tunde's mother." Cynthia said within herself.

Cynthia knew she had no alternative than to lead him except she wants trouble. She gasped for breathe as she gazed into Uche's eyes with phobia. A moment after, she decided to lead him.

If Uche is killed, the money to be collected from Tunde's mother will be unaffected. And if it is other way round, there will be commission coming from Uche. So, nothing to lose than to play save and go back home safely, she thought as they moved.

It's already getting dark. They both moved gently side by side with their backs bent, tiptoeing as they approached the described round hut. Cynthia was shocked to see a pistol with Uche while trying to give him the direction to take.

As they moved closer, cold and fear gripped them, most especially Cynthia. Then, there followed a sarcastic voice coming out of the hut...

"Hahahahahahahaha! You still trace me to here! If you decided to stop the act of wickedness, some of you will definitely force ask for it. And with any time wasted, Baba invoked the god of thunder to strike them to death."

The weather became cloudy, then thunder which was accomplished by lightning rented the firmament and stroke both of them to death.

Babe came out of the hut and looked at their lifeless body. He could recognize Cynthia very vividly. He shook his head pitifully, then entered the hut again.

"As long as lice exist on our heads, our fingers shall remain blood stained. I have to finish my work by sending jinn to kill whoever sent them this message."

Baba did as he said. He invoked the spirit of one of his gods to and scatter whoever sent them.

Tunde's mother who was trying to put call through Cynthia so as to get the latest development screamed out of fear as the jinn surfaced on the wall with a big pestel, muttering.

Tunde's mother phone dropped and shattered as she ran helter and skelter in the room, screaming for help but no one seemed to hear her. And the jinn approached her when she already tired. He laughed sarcastically and raised the pestel and deliver his message.

"Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!"

It was only the noise Tunde heard. He then rushed to the room.

Tunde met his mother on the verge of death, on the floor, holding her neck, huffing and puffing, struggling to survive. He was lost and didn't know the next line of action to seek redness. He quickly squatted down, trying to figure out what was really going on by asking her. He raised her back and supported her with his arms...

"Mummy, mummy, mummy, what's the problem? What happened to you mummy? What's the problem mummy? Please answer me! Please look at my face mummy! Mummy please don't do like this."

Tunde was asking and pleading at the same time while shaking her vigorously. And he was forced to leave her so as to seek help from the neighbors but all to no avail. Cynthia that was used to be there was not available too.

He ran back to his room, shaking while ransacking everywhere, looking for his phone. He stood with his arms akimbo, panting like someone who was pursued by a masquerade when he couldn't reach for it. Fortunately for him, a call came in which gave him the location where the phone is, the back of his bed. It was Shade. And he told her to get her mother inform about the odd situation he was experiencing before he ran back to his mother's room.

Tunde met her still on the floor, alive but almost lifeless. He squatted down again, observing her out of confusion. She was breathing slowly with her eyes widely opened, not blinking. Then, he kneeled down gently and stretched his right hand to her occiput while the left hand was used to hold her right hand and lifted her head a bit.

"Mummy, please talk to me. Just say something mummy." Tunde pleaded to her with his eyes glued to her eyes, expecting her to say something, but nothing came out from his mother. He took a deep breath.

Horn from Shade's mother car jotted him out of the emotional turmoil he was experiencing. He left his mother with his soggy wear for Shade's mother who has already entered the sitting room..

"Tunde, where is she? What happened to her?" Shade's mother asked curiously

Tunde couldn't say a word. He just led her to where his mother was. And she was carried to the hospital.

Shade's mother brought her friend to the hospital not because she believed in them, but just a camouflage. She believed the sickness was not natural but a spiritual attack. And her thought was to carry her to Baba who was her god... And to do that, she has to crave the indulgence of Tunde and her family members if possible.

Doctor asked Shade's mother and Tunde to excuse them so as to do their job... They were forced to be out.

It was already dark. Tunde, with his trouble mind followed Shade's mother who invited him to the reception for interrogation. They both sat side by side on an outdoor park Aluminum bench with back.

"Tunde, how did it happen?" Shade's mother asked with full sense of concern.

Tunde, who was lost while wallowing in emotional turmoil was far away from Shade's mother, in mind. He couldn't hear until when he was touched... And touch brought him out to reality

"Yes ma." He responded out of shock.

"C'mon! What are you thinking? Your mum will be fine. Okay?" Shade's mother said.

Tunde closed his eyes and nodded his head in agreement, but didn't say anything.

Shade's mother looked at him with pity. She could feel his pain. A young boy who didn't grow up to know his father, suffered from a spiritual attack himself, and now his mother is on sick bed.

"Why this young handsome boy? Who could have done this again? Why this him?" Shade's mother questioned within herself as she wrapped her arm across his neck.

"Tunde, how did it happen? What exactly happened to her?" She asked again.

"I was in the sitting room when "yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh" suddenly echoed out from her room. And without hesitation, I ran down there to meet her on the verge of death, holding her neck, struggling with herself." He explained.

"Is Cynthia not around to come to your aid?" Shade's mother asked.

"Aunty was not around. I saw no one." Tunde said and dissolved into tears.

Shade's mother held her tightly. She nearly cried too, but she controlled her emotion.

"Be good dear. Your mother will be well soon, okay?"

Tunde nodded in affirmation again.

Shade's mother raised to her feet.

"A moment please." She said to Tunde and walked out. She came back a minute later with her bag. She opened the bag, dipped his hand in it and reached for her phone and dialled Shade's number. She got her informed that she wouldn't come home till the following day.

All of sudden, she saw the doctor in charge walking briskly towards his office. She quickly ran after him to ask about the latest development.

"Madam, I have to be sincere with you ma, it seems it's not natural because she is not responding at all. In fact, we have transferred her to ICU (intensive care unit). I'm telling you this owning to the relationship between both of you. But we will try our best. Just be prayerful." The doctor said pessimistically and walked away.

Shade's mother stood motionlessnes and heaved heavily. Though, she didn't expect less, but only pity the poor boy.

Tunde walked up to her...

"Mummy, what did the doctor say?" He asked soberly.

Shade's mother smiled. She threw his arm across his neck and moved him back to their previous seat.

"Tunde, put your mind at rest. Doctor said she will okay." She replied.

"Are you sure?" He asked again to be sure. Though, he could read the reaction on her face to be fake, but he still wants assurance even if it is not genuine.

"Yes dear. Just let's be prayerful." He replied.

"I hope so." Tunde said.

"What would you eat this night?" Shade's mother asked.

"I'm okay ma." He replied.

She knew he wasn't okay. And she could understand him. So, she assumed to his tune.

When it was around 12pm, nature called; both of them slept off on their seat.

Shade's mother was woke up from her slumber by the doctor, telling her that her attention is needed by Tunde's mother. She was astonished to hear the good news. And her noise woke Tunde up too.

They all entered the room together. And met her on the bed, looking very sick.

Tunde's mother opened her eyes gently and turned her head slowly, towards them.

"Mama Shade, thank you so much for being always there for me. You're truly a friend indeed. You're an Araba tree that worth a thousand epithets. I know I have offended you. Hope you will forgive me.
Tunde is your son and I want you to handle him the way you care for yours too." She said.

"What are you saying? You can't offend me mama Tunde. Please, let's leave that issue for now. All we should be after now is your health. So let go of that please." Shade's mother reacted.

Tunde's mother neglected her and controlled her eyes to Tunde's side.

"Tunde, my son, it's quite unfortunate that you didn't grow up to know your father. I promise not to leave you too.
My friend, Mama Shade is your mother just like me. Listen to her. And above all, don't forget my warning. My love for you is what is sending me to my earlier grave now. Please and please, stick to all what I have told you." She concluded and gave up the ghost.

Shade got out in hurry from the toilet. She picked up her phone from her bed and checked if she had missed any call when she notice the time. She just couldn't believe her eyes.

"Ojo ti lo sha." She uttered, which mean "time has gone"
"Tunde must have be expecting me" She added and dropped the phone in hurry, then advanced to the bathroom.

She came out after some minutes and quickly got herself dressed. She left her room for her mother's room who has gone to her place of work to access herself in front of a standing mirror. She wasn't that pleased with her dressing which was very unusual of her, but just to execute her plan for the day, as counselled by her friend, Tina.

She locked all the doors and went out to stop a bike.

Though, where Tunde resided was not far from hers, same street, but she decided to go on bike.

"Shhhhhh, Okada" she stopped a bike and told him where she was going, but it seemed the young man wasn't interested in where she was going.

He looked at her lustfully with his eyes scanning through her body from head to toes, and he was carried away with her sexy look before she shouted on him which brought him back to his senses.

"Will you carry me or not? Because I don't know why you're looking as if you have never seen a lady before." She said angrily.

"Abeg, no vex. Shey na same covenant building wey dey down there you dey go?" He asked astonishingly, wondering how one could be so clueless to trek such distance while he was pointing forward to the place.

"Yes, of course." She replied.

They both agreed on a particular amount before she sat down.

"But Aunty, this your beauty coupled with this dressing bad ooo. In fact e fit cut person fasting..." The young man kept on complimenting her and she was about to reply the man when her phone started ringing. She ignored the man and picked the call without hesitation.

"Hello, how far?" The caller ask with a cool voice.

"I'm good. Don't waste your call credit because I'm already at your door step." She replied and dropped the call.

She got down from the bike and settled the man before she Cat walked into the compound, and towards the sitting room.

Tunde, who was initially in his room, working on his laptop stood to his feets​ and walked to the sitting room so as to welcome his visitor.

Tunde couldn't believe what his eyes boheld when he opened the door for her and she entered. He looked at her unsatisfactory, but kept his words instead of condemning her dressing which revealed parts of her body. He just ushered her into his room.

Though, Tunde had once made an attempt to drink in the juice contained in shade's honeypot, but which he was denied. And since then, he has made up his mind not to disturb her till their wedding night as wanted by Shade. But on the hand, Shade was there for a mission: to break her promise.

They exchanged pleasantries and she sat at the edge of his bed, keeping a distance away from him.

She was expecting him to say something, but nothing came from him which has never happened since when they have started their relationship. And this got her confused which made her felt embarrassed with her dressing.

"I can't just believe I have resumed to school as a university undergraduate student. Thanks so much sweetheart. I'm so much greatful to you for being there for me till this very moment. I couldn't just believe my admission could come as easy as that. The very first day you called and broke the good news that I have been offered the admission, I was like waooo! It was just like a dream, but now a reality." Shade said with greatful heart to break the silence.

Though, she was brilliant and her brilliant performance in both jamb and post utme should have given her courage and increase her hope, but yet her mind was not at rest due to high rate of corruption which is rampant in most Nigeria institutions.

The admission came in so fast as it was that same year she completed her Secondary. This made her to be over joyous and as a result vowed to offer her dignity, her tressure she has been keeping from her boyfriend, Tunde as a form of appreciation.

She put on a seductive radiant smile as she stylishly move closer​ to Tunde, who seemed not to notice her when she was rendering her words of appreciation.

He looked away and uttered nothing despite her reactions and gesticulation towards him.

"What's wrong now? What have I done wrong? You didn't even say anything neither did you look at me." She expressed her mind while looking at him confusely.

Tunde looked at her and into her eyes passionately in exchange and took a deep breathe. Then wrapped his arm across her neck. It took him some minutes before he could later expressed his mind.

"Dear, I know how much you care about me. I know how much you love me. The sacrifices you have made so as to make me live: to build the future together. Shade, I never for a second doubt the feelings. And I promise you won't regret loving me. Trust me, I will always be there for you like you have been there for me. Since we started this relationship, we never had a minute of misunderstanding which shows how great the future of this relationship is. Thank God on your admission. Though, it's still same school, but I'm scared." Tunde said.

"Scared? Scared of what? Even if it were to be different schools, you should have nothing to be scared​ of. What is the fear all about? I'm confused with your words, please.

Tunde took a deep breath again. He wished he could let cat out of the bag, but he couldn't just do that. He looked into Shade's eyes again and closed his eyes, then swallowed hard. He went on deep thoughts. A lot of things ran through his mind. And before he knew it, tears was already trickling down his cheeks.

His action got Shade lost. She looked at him in wonders, wondering what could have brought that. And she assumed perhaps, he thought about his parents. Then, she moved very close to him and wipe off the tears with her right palm...

"I'm sorry dear. I is well with us. You have nothing to fear. I promise to always be there for you. I'm for you, and no one could replace you in my heart." Shade said.

Tunde heaved heavily again. He then opened his eyes gently. And he could not resist the passionate love burning in Shade's eyes as she gazed at him at that very moment.

They both gaze heavily at each other passionately for some moment and soon, Shade moved her lips slowly towards his. And before they knew what was happening, they had already engaged in passionate kissing: kissing each other tenderly. Though, that wasn't their first time of romancing each other, and it has never gone beyond it. But this time around, she was ready to give herself to him voluntarily, not under duress, to show her love...
