Raymondboyvic:Your question is like asking between Mathematics and chemical engineering which one has more calculations. Computer science is pure mathematics. Some people that are going into computer science think is all about how to use application softwares such as Microsoft office etc. It's far beyond that. |

jessetom:chemical engineering is also know as process engineering. if you think you will see chemistry lol i pity you. apart from chem 101 and organic chemistry even the organic chemistry serf na die i remember i manage a 4 in that course. chemical engineering is diverse ooo and difficult but. if you are really smart i mean smart you will get a first class |

Guy, if u dont like calculation or you get difficulty in interpreting calculculations or ot u ve issues dealing with or remembering bogus formulas, dont just bother ur head going in for chemical engineering! Am tellin u this because i read chemical engineering! Moreso u should know ur strenght and ur weaknesses! |

am a computer science graduate, and believe me, computer science is mathematics, you meet real analysis, ODE ordinary differential equations, calculus, set, logic and algebra numerical methods and numerical analysis, and statistics etc |

kayc0:my advice is that, if u need immediate job placement after school. go for computer science. but if u re ready to exercise patience, go for chemical. the difference is this, the day u get a chemical job, ur life will become a smooth ride, once u enter, u hardly come out unlike computer. as for being difficult chemical is very difficult, the calculations are not straight at all, but if u make up ur mind then u can do it |

computer science have lesser mathematics. All engineering courses are majorly advanced mathematics |
| Re: Chemical Engineering Vs Computer Science Which Has More Calculations??? by Deicide: 9:51am On Jul 26, 2017 |
The op asked which one has more calculations in it not which one is more difficult because chemical engr has more physic and chemistry maths that would make it more difficult that doesn't it has more calculations in it because Computer science is basically mathematics and again most of the maths you do in computer science you are going to apply them in real life Jobs I don't know about chem engr thou |
| Re: Chemical Engineering Vs Computer Science Which Has More Calculations??? by Etogist: 9:53am On Jul 26, 2017 |
marvin902:Mathematics as a course can be more advanced in calculations than computer science but computer science itself is all about mathematics. |
| Re: Chemical Engineering Vs Computer Science Which Has More Calculations??? by LordReed(m): 9:59am On Jul 26, 2017 |
Most definitely Chemical Engineering. Chemical Engineering involves calculations that generate data for another set of calculations which in turn generate data for another set of calculations before the final answer. The complexities of calculations involved in Chemical Engineering is orders of magnitude higher than any found in Computer Science. |

Don't try Chemical Engr uniport, No lecturers in uniport engineering are more wicked than those in uniport. Make oduola russian kinetics no fall on u ooo pls better go for computer. but if u get the morale, u can try, |

Both causes involves calculations. If you are average in mathematics you will still survive in computer science but, in chemical engineering if you are not mathematically sound baba your carryover will be in bulk volume. |

Okay guys, I would like us to take a good approach to this debate. Let's handle this like engineers(at least the computer science guys claim to be software "enginners") Chemical engineering people(like myself), please list all the math you come across in your program. List the ones that you encounter in CHE classes(with examples) to solve problems, the ones you do in General Engineering clases. And how frequent you actually apply those math techniques. Computer science people, I'm sure you guys are smart enough to follow this same sequence and list your math courses. The ones you use in CSC, the ones that are borrowed couses(from MTH and STAT and so...) and how often you use them... Please note that we are going to cover only first degree level(B.Sc) |

Cacawa2:what are yoy saying??. By the time you are hit with the likes of Real Analysis, Rolles Theorem, numerical method, linear Algebra 11,etc you would know the maths we do in computer science is more dan base 2 or 16 that yu are saying.. But @Op i think chemical engineering do more maths than we do in CSC |

I studied computer science so I know the amount of Maths I did, but to be honest the type of Maths they do in those Engineering courses make me think life through... Chemical engineering would have more maths, I have a cousin who did it and she's a witness! |

Saxifrage12:lol, the beginning of Maclaurin series is the beginning of seriousness or Real analysis where you have to cram crazy math theorems and solve at the same time..CSC is not that easy |

| Re: Chemical Engineering Vs Computer Science Which Has More Calculations??? by 3face(m): 10:53am On Jul 26, 2017 |
you are right bro,it was maths that gave birth to computer science in the first place, while chem engr.is just the application of maths.comp science is the use of maths to solve problems relative to other courses. All computer scientist need all aspect of maths to solve problems, like the mathematical topic matrix computer scientist need it solve problems in the form of arrays.for me comp sc is more of maths. |

Please the fact that Chemical Engineers do more Maths than we Computer Scientists doesn't go to say that we don't do wicked Maths or that we just face our computers like some people here suggest, I mean like you asked @OP between the two courses, you find more Maths in Chemical Engineering than in CS. Even when we program or design stuff, we use those annoying Logic Maths, Vector and sometimes depending on where we find ourselves, Engineering Maths too or Statistics. But in all, the Chemical Engineers have it more than we do. |
| Re: Chemical Engineering Vs Computer Science Which Has More Calculations??? by Nobody: 11:03am On Jul 26, 2017 |
As a graduate of chemical engineering and as a highly rated professional as a software developer I give it to chemical engineering straight up at first degree level. However, when you go deep into solving real world problems, they are at par just like any other professions. I can cite some examples: When your actuarial science colleague gives you some crazy indices to calculate risk factors to determine the sum assured-ness of an insurance policy and therefore what premium to apply in your code, na im you go no say no profession be moi moi (actuarial science). Calculating the calcination zone (volume+optimal temperature+others) of the reactor for producing CO2 from limestone using the Karman-Kozeini and Burke Plumer equation #drop dead formula (Chem Engine). You can also watch James Gosling's video on the algebraic manipulation of constraints, mad CS stuff. #Respect to all seasoned professionals I would say. |

Definately it should be Computer Science, coz it is as Calculative as Mathematics itself n |

Raymondboyvic:It depends on your school (Course syllabus). In some unis, All Engineering departments pass through rigorous Applied Mathematics courses... Basically Engineering is about application of knowledge developed from Scientific theories (Sciences) to suit day-to-day human limitations. Computer Science is basically a modern name for the knowledge whose Origin is Mathematics. Comp. Sci blends Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics. It's difficult to know which has more dense Mathematics courses out of the two options. Be that as it may, Chemical Engineering will present more tough maths than Computer Science in terms of Volume, Space and CourseWork of applied mathematics. NB in my school back then, Computer Science is under Faculty of Engineering implying that it's still Engineering. While my CS friends were doing Chebyshev and Butterworth polynomials in their course, I as an EE undergrad during Network Synthesis was learning how ChebyShev and Butterworth polynomials could be used to generate ChebyShev Filter and Butterworth Filter. In essence, the amount of maths may not differ the depth definitely will vary. |
