Get an international adapter. It's #1000 at Computer Village, Ikeja. With it, you can use any socket in Casablanca and the US.

I finally caught up, please does any one knows schools that won't require initial tuition deposits?
Especially in Texas and Chicago.
I'll appreciate schools with affordable application fees and Tuition for International students also.

Trust me, I've been researching, but I'm kinda stuck.

Thanks so much.

You can see yourself that your request is vague. Any school is no school. You didn't tell folks your course. Go and prepare to write GRE and TOEFL first. Then check this thread properly. I have reposted @femi312 post on how to go about it. check his post or check my post. Good luck!

Hello All, I want to commend you all for the quality of conversation on this thread. I have been a silent follower of this thread and I am moved by the stories and experiences being shared. I have an admission offer from SJU New York to study MS Biology. I'm awaiting my I-20 certificate so that I can commence Visa processing. Class resumes on August 30, I hope I'm not too late. Secondly, Is there anyone residing in Queens, New York that could offer advice or suggestions regarding cheap accommodation or possibly shared room. I will appreciate a response. Thank you all.

Good day Gurus in the house, please I will appreciate your response ASAP!
For those who applied and admitted to the University of central Oklahoma, were you required to pay at least $3000 of the deposit before an I-20 was issued.

I was denied Visa on 26th July being Tuesday at Abuja

And

My Visa was approved On Tuesday being 1st August at Lagos

After the first denial in Abuja, that day I left the embassy with broken heart, I went straight to my hotel room picked my bag and took a cab to GTBank and paid for another visa fee before leaving Abuja. It was a journey filled with tears in my heart and my heart bled all through; I was so weak but I didn't show any sign of weakness. My people were so sad..... Long story......

LAGOS
I got to Lagos on 31st July and I stayed in a friend's house. And I didn't tell my people that I paid for another visa fee and they didn't know I was in Lagos.
I booked Uber that picked me 4:30 on the morning of 1st August. My interview was 7:15am but I got to embassy around 5:11am and had to wait for the verification to start... Fast forward to the interview line. I was directed to the guy at window 9 (I can't vividly remember) he denied 2 people before me; but those guys bleeped up, am sure they were not prepared at all.

The VO was with one black lady inside.

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning (with big confident)

Vo: Tell me where you are going? And why you chose the place?

Me: I'm going to St Cloud State University in Minnesota for Bachelor's Degree in Computer science. I chose the school because they offered me a scholarship that waived part of my tuition and they have an exceptional program which integrates in-class learning with professional and practical learning. Their curriculum is structured in a way students can chose area of specialization like cyber security or software engineering which is what I want to professionalize in. (the lady with the VO interviewing was nodding)

Vo: Cyber security?
Me: I don't know what came over me I laughed and said software engineering and he laughed too.

(Honestly, I don't feel like it's an interview, I felt it's a conversation, I was so free and smiling all through with cool eye contact)

Vo: Tell me about the schools you applied?

Me: I applied to West Liberty University, West Virginia State University, University of the District of Columbia and Morgan State University but I chose St Cloud State University because of their well structured curriculum.

Vo: When did you finish high school?

Me: 2011, "he wanted to ask another question but I was faster than him so I ride on with" After I finish my high school I got admission to do two year National Diploma in Office Technology and Management which I finished in 2014, 2015 I didn't a one year compulsory internship and in 2016 I enrolled in a computer education centre which I did program on Web design using content management system, graphic design, digital marketing and search engine optimization. He cut me

Vo: What is the name of the place you did the program?

Me: I told him

Vo: What do you do now?

Me: Am currently doing an unpaid internship where I tutor high school graduates voluntary on WordPress development and search engine optimization.

VO: What is search engine optimization?

Me: (before he finished pronouncing the optimization) I don dey define the thing like whose lose brake. He was impressed same with the lady because they turn off the mic for me not to hear what they were saying and they were smiling and talking. He turned on the mic and

Vo: Your sponsor is your uncle?

Me: yes

Vo: What does he do?

Me: He is into importation of fabrics and textiles, he also has a farmer. He is into animal husbandry; 'piggery'.

He started typing what I don't know and he was so serious typing it and I started praying on my mind. After typing for like close to 1 min he put hand at the white paper and said I will be approving your visa and he gave me the white paper through that hole I didn't wait for him to finish the rest I zoomed off with a big smile on my face.

All thanks to God and the creator of this forum and to those contributing and sharing transcripts.

@tunnyz7 @teedawg @oludare01@texrem @zealotre @walspring
Thanks guys

My Advice to future applicants:
Be truthful and fill your DS160 yourself and know about your course. And also be bold and confident because that's the key.

As I promised earlier that I will share my travel experience with you all so someone may learn One or two things, I will start that today and it should run for a day or two.

Let's not waste anymore time and get into it.

Took Uber to the airport in Lagos. Easy stuff. They have done a lot of work at reducing the crowd at departure section of MMIA, so your bags go through the X-ray machine at the main entrance and then to the NDLEA and Immigration desk at the same entrance.

I wasn't carrying any foodstuff so the search was less than 30 seconds. They didn't ask for money too. And then I went straight to the airline counter. No further search was done here as used to be the case some years ago. So good job to them on that.

On Egypt Air flight to the US, you have to put your laptop in the check-in bag. Toothpaste and perfumes too. Baggage drop off is fast too. I spent less than 10mins for everything. I had checked-in online and chosen a window seat too.

Boarding started at 12:15pm. The aircraft was a small Boeing 737-800 on the Lagos-Cairo route.

So boarding at MMIA was good. They asked me for tips though, a couple of NAHCO guys and immigration. But it's all good sha. To dispose my naira sef dey itch me for body.

PS: For those saying POE is no big deal, well I got taken for secondary screening where I was further drilled. I think someone was deported on our flight. I will share with you all the details. But if you are legit, you should not be afraid of a secondary screening.

Fantastic! I am happy for you, bro. This is good news indeed. I can imagine how you must have felt when you were denied.

There is something that I am noticing about most people who were granted...confidence and preparation. Know your course, know the story you want to tell and do not give up.

I think..
1. Your answer to what you have been doing since you finished high school was too casual. I mean, you must have been doing something alongside. Think of something smart you did alongside help your uncle in his work.

2. Make your answer to "why this school? " academically related. I mean, you can adapt to the US educational system from any other college. Look for something academically related that makes the school different from others.
Think of what you can get from the school, you cant get from others.

Refire and Goodluck

read previous transcripts and learn how to answer questions intelligently ........... if the main reason is so you can fit into that environment then you don't need to go abroad for that .... many universities for Lagos , Ibadan, Enugu where you can fit in

Hello Gavira. I understand you had three heavy bags and they were not with you at the screening. Please did you have another small hand bag(that had your credentials) with you also? I just want to be sure cos am using AA too. Thanks
gaviria:
So I got to my final destination(Illinois) like an hour ago.
My flight from Lagos to Casablanca was scheduled for 6:30am but got delayed till 10am on Wednesday morning, so I had gotten to the airport around 12am not knowing they had rescheduled the flight, so I stayed at the airport till the next morning with sleeping at all. So we left Lagos for Casablanca around 10:20 and got there around 14:30, meanwhile my stopover was to be 4 hours in Casablanca and we had already used that up in the Lagos delay, so as soon as we alighted those of us with the 4 hour stopover had to rush over to the departure terminal to leave immediately. So we left Casablanca around 15:20 and got to New York(JFK) at 7:30pm local time. The POE queue was freaking long. People of different color, race and gender all queuing to enter the US. We were sha moving small small till I got to the front. By the way I don't know why I've just been having that thought of secondary screening and each time it pops up in my head I just reject it. So I was put on a queue in front of one white CBP officer where I had some Asians and Europeans in front of me. The guy took one Asian and one European for secondary screening. I just said it cannot happen to me in my mind. Gbam it got to my turn
Me: Good evening sir
CBP: Good evening sir
I gave him my passport,i20 and SEVIS without him asking.
He stared at the passport and looked into my eyes, asked me to put my four fingers on the scanner, Checked my i20, stamped my passport, gave it to me and said "Next". He didn't ask me a single question. Not even why are you here? Or where are you headed? Or do you have garri and so? So I cleared immigration around 9:30pm at JFK. Moved to baggage claim, carried my 2 heavy boxes and my heavy hand luggage to luggage storage because my flight to St. Louis was for 5am in the morning and I can't be carrying heavy bags up and down the very big airport that someone can lost inside. So I had already checked online and saw that it's only in Terminal 4 that the luggage storage is run 24hours, so I moved from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 using AirTrain which is free within the airport. I stored my luggage, they don't weigh luggage o, they use the height of the box/bag to tell you how much you'll pay. Anyways I paid $16 to store the 3 boxes. I then proceeded to look for Terminal 8 which is where my American Airlines flight is. I went there and they told me check-in starts by 3am. So I went to Dunkin Donuts and bought Turkey with bacon and cheddar in flatbread and I ate it with iced coffee. Everything was $8.64. Then I used the free internet for 30minutes which was quite fast. Time went by and American Airlines delayed their flight till 6:30am, I waited again, meanwhile throughout my trip which was over 30hours by then I hadn't got more than 5 hours of sleep, noting that I didn't sleep the night before the day I left Nigeria because I was happy.
Cutting the story short even though it's very long already.lol. I left JFK to my destination around 7:00am Thursday and I got to my apartment around 13:00. The time is 14:58. And I really need to sleep.

Use southwest !

Local flights in the US very strange

You wee pay for flights normally

Pay for the seat you wee seat on separately

Still pay for you checked in bags and if too much you pay additional fee

Are you sure there is no payment for walking around the airport or breathing the air?

Southwest flights yeah will take care of checked luggage, but will not show up on most third party flight booking websites including google flights. Typically, you would have to go to their site and arrange the booking separately from your international leg. They can be lot cheaper too, for those that don't know
