Please I would really like to speak with any pharmacy student in unilag from 200 level and above. I'm going to be 200 level very soon and I need to know more about the specifics of the course and the idi araba campus. Thanks in advance.

Hi, what would you like to know?

Hi, what would you like to know?
I'd like to know the courses taken in 200 level 1st semester, specifically and the textbooks I can use for them.
I would also like to know about the campus. How is it compared to akoka campus? Is there a sports centre or anything like that there?
The hostels. How many are there? Is there any preference during balloting?
I'm sorry if I'm bombarding you with questions. I've been looking for someone who can answer them for a long time.

Quite a no of questions truly. Anyway, there should be an orientation by PANS(Pharmacy Association of Nigerian Students) for you guys when the session newly resumes and all your questions would be fully answered. I finished in 2014 so there might have been some changes. Regarding textbooks, I don't think you should get any just yet. Once you resume, you'll know better cos you might get some soft copies and can then decide which and which to buy.

Firstly, pharmacy has 4/5 depts.....Pharmaceutical chemistry, Pharmacognosy, Clinical pharmacy, Pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical microbiology. You'll be doing some 'borrowed courses' from other depts like Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, General studies(GST), Biochemistry. Some courses are pre-requisites to their subsequents in the next level so be at alert. For e.g. I can't really remember them but let's say pch 201 is a pre-req for pch 301...it means if you don't pass the 201, you can't register for 301 and that's an automatic extra year. I'm not trying to scare you in any way but just to prepare your mind shikena. A lot of practicals as well.

Needless to say, Pharmacy is a challenging! course but trust me it's worth it at the end of the day.

Sports centre? Do you intend participating in sports? There's a basketball field and mini tennis court though.

Accommodation....we didn't use to do balloting then but I don't know how it is done now.

Generally, cos it's situated close to the hospital, it is a serene and conducive environment. You'll be fine and just always make sure you are up and doing....ask questions when in doubt.

You're welcome.
Hostel in CMUL is different from Akoka so you get to spend a year as opposed to Akoka which is sessional. Then,we just apply in the student affairs dept and hostel used to be sure for us but I think the earlier the better. Also, they used to give preference to part 1 and final year students so relatively, if you apply as a part 1 student, you have a better chance of getting a bed space.

I got bed spaces throughout my schooling years though, talk about luck maybe.....

Amen to the first part.

well, uniuyo don't usually upload much about pharmacy on their website or portal, so any information you obtain will have to come from an insider in the faculty; an officer or student.

so this is little i have for now, cut off mark is very relative depending on average performance of applicants for the year. 2017 cut off was pretty high cause of excellent utme performance, the year before was lower, who knows what the year for 2018 will be.

the good thing is, after jamb exam there will be room for change of institutions and course, by then you'll have seen your result and general performance and determined if you stand a chance from the information available or cut off mark.

however for the cut off mark of 2017, i do not know. when i arrive school next week i may obtain the information.

as a year 1 pharmacy student you'll write OBJ exams which are not really difficult to pass because its basically o'level science courses and standard, so it's basically a revision of secondary school stuffs. never wave it aside though, if you fail a science course in year one you repeat the entire level and pay school fees all over.

regardless, i hope you make the right decision. thanks for your kind words anyway.

happy new year.

1. quite competitive.
2. they is really no specified cgpa to cross, but I will recommend you get at least 4.0 and above in both your 100 and 200 level that is if you are going to pharmacy and also make sure you get no carry over
3.it was based majorly on merit though if you know someone it boost your chances of getting it
4. out of like 61 or so that applied, only 19 was given
