I am filling the DS 160 form and the passport photograph was rejected. The reason given was "Image may contain imperfections due to compression artifacts". Has anyone experienced this? Please let me know how you got around it. Thank you.
You can use coral draw to edit the picture. Maybe the background isn't too white

That shouldn't be a problem, edit it with corel draw.

Dear friends my advice to people applying for visiting visa. Ps be very careful on how u fill your form. For family ties USA people take it very serious. Family ties are having kids, spouse, a good job. For the job ps note that VO are very strict about it. For your job make sure u av stayed in the job for years than months. Years can be 5years up ward. That is my advice. I was denial visa yesterday depect my travel history. I have worked in my new office for 9months and got my leave and applied for USA visiting visa, so I was denial beacuse of it.

Hello All,

I just applied this morning via dropbox for renewal. I also applied for my baby who's just about one year old but was surprised when the DHL personnel said I'd need to book appointment to apply for her at the US Embassy. I thought that would be unnecessary since she's a minor.
I requested for how to get a refund but they gave me a number which is not even connecting

Are they on point with their advice? if yes, how do i get a refund to do the fresh application?
Also, please, how long does it take to go for pickup if applying via dropbox?

Thanks in advance for your response.

If you don’t mind spending another money I’ll advive you go to a photo studio take a professional passport there it would meet the exact criteria. Then tell them you need the soft copy to upload. They should convert it to a lesser than 240kb better still 80kb that way you are going to be able to upload it with no issues.

1. How did you know the reason why you were denied?
2. Where have you traveled to prior to the application?
3. How did you pick the figure "5 years upward... ' Were tough told so by the VO?
Kindly answer so we can reach our individual conclusions.
NB. All the factors mentioned have been taken seriously by the embassy from the get go. It's not a New thing

For every application, never assume.
Always read the instructions on the website. The qualifications for drop box are clearly stated there.
Unfortunately, that money is gone. No refunds after drop box booking
I also believe the nos of days to pick up is on the website though it ranges between 2 to 10 days

Hi guys,

please I have a situation and would appreciate any feedback given. I recently did a drop box to renew my visa, I my wife and daughter and we have been called in for an interview. has anyone experienced this recently?

In our previous 2 visits we had stayed just under 3 months on both occasions, the second time was to have our second baby while the first was due to an elongated leave from work that my wife got. I run my own company so I was able to handle the affairs from there. My question is a number of persons have advised that our visa renewal application would be denied if we tell them we stayed almost 3 months due to the leave axtension my wife got from work.

Please house, what are your thoughts?

Have you renewed after the child birth? If no then you must go with every document needed to prove that you have no debt ...Zero balance and you will also have to defend why you stayed for almost 3 months but I see no issue here if you can successfully defend yourself.

The VO gave me a blue paper . Everything I read there was just centre on not having enough family ties. I told him I am married with no kid yet.
VO: why do you want to travel
Me: for vacation.
VO: what is your company into?
Me: is an Engineering company
VO: how long have u worked there, I said 9months. Noted: in my new company onece u are confirmed after 6months, u can take your annual leave. I was advised to take it early because August time the company is always buzy.
VO: what does y hubby do.
Me: work in ******
VO:How long: 5years
VO: As what?
Me: As ******
VO: av u travelled outside Nigeria
Me: yes. Twice to uk, av a 5years UK valid visa, travelled to Dubai
VO: where would u like to visit in Maryland
Me: I mentioned it. Next thing he told me he is sorry he can not approve my visa and gave my blue paper.
So what I found out that might have gone wrong is the 9months I said. So that was why I said that people should make sure they have up to 5years work experience.

Not entirely true. I had barely spent one year on my current job when I applied. US immigration laws grans VOs unlimited powers to deny applicants who they believe may not leave the US after their trip. Some people's profiles are so good that it will be almost impossible for the VO to suspect that such individual will go to the US and begin to struggle to settle down there. For example a professor of medicine fro the university of Lagos who has a family and home in LAgos is not likely to abandon such role and begin to hustle permanent residence in USA which is why people of such ranks are usually never denied. However in the case of we young people, the likelihood is quite high which makes it more difficult to convince VO. However when the VO takes into consideration the applicant's profile (job, income stability, travel history and some level of instincts) the VO may grant the applicant.

A lot has been said on this thread about building a travel history to other countries with a similar visa application process as the U.S. before applying for a U.S. visitor visa. Note that you can still be granted a U.S. visitor visa without having a travel history, taking other factors into consideration.

The link below lists 44 Countries Nigerian Passport Holders can Visit without a Visa. After going through the list it got me thinking (most are African and Caribbean/Island nations with only one European nation). My guess is that it might be the case that when you mention that you have traveled to any of these 44 countries, a U.S. VO already knows that there was no rigorous visa application process before you were allowed in.

https://newsofnigeria.com/44-countries-nigerian-passport-holders-can-visit-this-holiday-without-a-visa/

Just my two cents (or two kobo).

The countries are:
1. Bangladesh
2. Barbados
3. Republic of Benin
4. Burkina Faso
5. Burundi
6. Cameroon
7. Cape Verde
8. Chad
9. Comoros
10. Cote d’Ivoire
11. Djibouti
12. Dominica
13. Fiji Island
14. Gambia
15. Ghana
16.Guinea
17. Guinea Bissau
18. Haiti
19. Iran
20. Kenya
21. Liberia
22. Madagascar
23. Maldives
24. Mali
25. Mauritania
26. Micronesia
27. Mozambique
28. Nauru
29. Republic of Niger
30. Palau
31. Samoa
32. Senegal
33. Seychelles
34. Sierra Leone
35. Somalia
36. Sri Lanka

Sorry about the denial and it's one of those things especially if you don't have good travel history... The solution to the problem at hand is traveling to another country for visiting since your plan is to travel for visiting anyway.. try UAE,Europe,Canada,Southern African countries,Southeast Asia and Japan... give it a try so that when next you decided to apply for U.S visa it will be easier for you to get it.
