Slang has no plural form. It is just "slang".

now we talking about whatsapp not whatsapp business,it seems you are proud to know the different packages of whatsapp

it is strange you do not understand what is short message, short messages are always abbreviated to save time and energy, even without using whatsapp, can you write a non abbreviated message on the SMS feature on your phone, the answer is NO,it will cost you more and waste your time and energy.

likewise on whatsapp,it saves time if you write in short and abbreviated messages

i see nothing bad in what she wrote down, only a fool wont understand what she meant, she wanted to save her time and the time of the employer by being direct to the point.

a whatapp chat is a different experience and not a place of writing long speeches

it seems in this part of the world, we do not understand the functions of technology, its uses and how it is made to help us save time and energy.

to end this senseless argument as you said it is a choice to use abbreviation or nto,i dont understand why i am wasting my time arguing over someone choice.
Guy! Why are you trying hard to defend such tomfooleryhuh
Are you okay?
What stupid time and energy was she trying to save by typing jargon in the name of abbreviation for something as serious as getting a jobhuh

You have something to do with Trevor? I see!!

You see this bolded, I can manage a bit, but if someone types in uppercase and includes exclamation mark in the end, that person will answer himself/herself.

It's a complete turn off.
YOU DON'T MEAN IT!

On another note some of the people here proclaiming this use abbreviations left, right and centre. Eg. The last guy on the front page, I think, is using the word/letter "u" to condemn another guy who supports abbreviating. This "u" occurs in the middle of a sentence with regular English spellings.

The problem is too deep. Some don't even realize they do it.

Lol. You must be one naughty nerd!

Very true about your observation. I naturally don't pick these things/errors except they affect me directly.

In the days of 2go as an undergraduate, I could abbreviate for Africa! I'll abbreviate some words and the person I'm chatting with will have to ask for the meaning in full, it was chronic. Before I knew where I was, in exams, while writing fast, I write the word 'the' as 'd'. Most times, I don't get the chance to correct it. After a long battle, I gradually began to correct it.

Right now, I'm so prejudiced against this fad that I'll not buy an exercise book that has written anywhere on it, 'skool' because I feel it's the same amount of time it will take to spell correctly this misspelled word. I can't afford to mess with my poor parents investments.

I've also turned down some peoples application to work in my facility after I saw their written application. Very unserious set of people. It's much easier for them to have men sleep with them and give them money than having to work with their own hands, what a wasted generation

grin

Only an anti-education book manufacturer would dare misspell words on their book. Horrible!

You're right about the abbreviations in exams. Especially that "d" one. It's not fair on the person who has to read it. So much effort on reducing a word like 'the' to "de", etc.

Sometimes one tries not to be a grammar Nazi, but really.

There is no reason nowadays not to spell words in full on electronic devices. I believe there should be some sort of rehab facilities made available because you need to see old people doing it.

I can't chat with people who type this way. Because I can't fry my brain for every sentence you type. Mtcheew.

Abbreviations are allowed on the platform both of them are using. If the guy understood the message, why denying the candidate an opportunity. It's is not as if the interview proper has started. That guy's decision was too autocratic.

Shame on you.

I know why you're taking it personal.

Birds of the same feather.

A so called talent that cannot string good sentences together is not even to be considered a talent at all in the first place.
I get your point bro,but talent and ability to string good sentences are two different things,I have seen a lot of very talented and hardworking people that not too fluent in English, they try to learn though, let's try not to dismiss people because their English is not too good,be thankful you had the opportunity to learn and speak well....not everybody did.

Well, I get your point too.

But everyone should try to make an effort.

What will it take someone who can write cum to write come?

Is that not a clear sign of mental laziness?

Exactly.

For most people like her, it's most likely a case of habit.

Probably, she must have formed the disgusting habit of writing in meaningless abbreviations to the extent that now, she can't even tell the difference.

That apart, I also fault her for not recognizing when writing is formal and when it is not.

You cannot be responding to job inquiries and be writing as if you were talking to your mates and you expect your employers to take you serious.

You hit the nail right on the head, not knowing when to be formal is a big sign of unserioisness,by the time she looses many job opportunities, she will give herself brain,I just hope she even finds out why she lost the opportunity and learn.

I'm telling you.

She may never find out why she keeps on losing such opportunities that might come her way.

That's why we need to be pointing out such glaring errors on public fora like Nairaland so that others might also learn from other people's mistakes.

Hahahaha.

Can be blame the old ones?
Don't we the younger ones tell our parents they are old fashioned? In a bid to join the trend and be seen as fashionable, they start talking and typing like us.

I worry about the ones coming after us. It's getting worse and worse. Bill boards everywhere, brand names, advertising companies, comic books, one can't escape it. If the spelling of a word is not wrong then it is abbreviated. We need help.

There has to be a total overhaul here and now before we get to start arguing over spellings with our children.

we are talking different suff

logic and traffic light doesnt go together here in nigeria

that is not a good example,we live here in nigeria and people move even though it is red.they dont obey rules

now anybody could move at any colour if the colour specify a meaning.colours are just symbols and could mean anything

Logic requires the act of reasoning by humans in order to form thoughts and opinions. foundation of a logical argument is its proposition, or statement.
