And it is the reason for suicide in many cases.

Death is not really the feared, it is the aftermath we all fear, The unknown.
Religions makes it more fearful with the place called HELL.

Why are some so rich, others so poor?
Why are challenges and problems lined up like hurdles,
jump one onto the next.

Why are we here in the first place, where do we go afterwards?
For what purpose do we live?

Some say to serve God.
How did God came to be?

This is not about any religion,
as each goes against the other.
This is just logical reasoning with seemingly foolish
questions yet no answers.

Sometimes i look closely at the ones i love, the fear of losing them is so great.

Each to their own, and NO ONE has the right to judge:-

Some believe God doesnt exist.
why? They say if he does then why so many unjust in this world. I agree to their answer but not their beliefs.

Life is what you make of it. We all have a choice. When you free yourself of other people’s choices and expectations then you truly begin to live. Try to live a good life that respects even the least amongst you or the youngest. Live a free life and try to reduce all negativity. At the end of the day, we are the only ones that take ourselves so seriously. No one else does. Also, at the end of the day, we die and life continues. This life is eternal and all those who think life is a do or die affair will one day fade into non existence and life will move on! Just free yourself and you will live. No one has all the answers to the mysteries of life, we are all just trying to live our best life.

What is life?

Because, I've come to realize that we're just living to die. And is this life worth the whole stress of living? If my question makes any sense.

I've also come to understand you don't live happily at any point. Things will happen and situations will keep stressing you at every point. When you're poor, you want to be rich so that you can solve your problems. But when you're also rich, there'll be stress. You'll start trying to make sure you don't go back to poverty and invest wisely. You can't just sit and enjoy your wealth. Situations will keep cropping up. Sometimes I'm scared to be happy because happiness doesn't last. Something bad must always happen.


What is this life?
Is it worth the stress that issues will keep coming up and you don't even get to sit back and enjoy?


Being a child is the best thing that happened to us all. Because then you had no worries, as we grow, our needs becomes endless. We're insatiable.

What is life? I'm tired of living, living this hard life knowing I'm going to die anytime and my goals and dreams that I'm working for becomes nothing at the end. I'm tired of getting almost everything wrong. Tired of not being happy all the time and the stress that keeps coming up.


What is the essence of life if we're just living and suffering only to die. Because in this life, THERE'S NOTHING LIKE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. We're just going through hell, just to die at the end.

Just as plants are here to add value to the world, but cut down and devoured, so you're also here to add value to the living organisms, cut down and devoured. However, some plants will be used as firewood, some will be used to build a long lasting edifice (even though these plants will be too dead to savor their usefulness), some of these plants will even be worshipped. This is exactly how we are - add value to the world, just that some people will seem more useful than others, while some will be remembered almost forever (This means nothing to a dead man).

This question has plagued humans since days of old.

I personally believe, Life (nature) has given everybody what he needs to be happy. Where we get it wrong is when we search for things that we have already.

Almost like using your phone torch to search for the phone itself (we know how frustrating that can be).

You just need to allow yourself to discover yourself. There's a Japanese concept called Ikigai, the French call it raison d'être. Basically means your reason for being.

The summary of that concept is attached in the image below. Everyone has an Ikigai, some spend their entire lives not discovering it.

Some discover it early and change the world, as someone once said, every human being wants to be happy first above all. What we don't realise is that happiness is relative and different for every individual.

When you come to that level of mental balance and self realization, you'd come to see that nothing fazes you and you are more powerful than you give yourself credit for...

Plato said the Ultimate Goal of Man is to be Happy. So then, how do you find happiness? Happiness is Relative. One mans i don blow is another mans I'm in wreck!! First key to Unconditional happiness is to Understand that Material things DO NOT bring real happiness because they are never enough. They only activate a sense of self rewarding feeling but they do not bring True happiness. To me, i believe True happiness can be found in Appreciating to the highest degree, the Little things of life. Appreciate to the highest degree the sunrise and sunset, Appreciate the cool breeze that blows in the evening, appreciate the lovely stars that shine at night.. appreciate Art, Music and anything Artistic. Appreciate those special people in your life who love you and always care about your well-being. Think of Life as a whole as a work of art, including the happy times and the Sad times, Learn to appreciate this art and believe me you will find a very deep sense of fulfillment in every situation, deeper that any you've ever felt. I have also pondered on this and have come to the conclusion that...

Life is to be enjoyed, to be savoured, to be LIVED.

To LIVE is to LOVE... and to LOVE is to LIVE...

I believe the life purpose of every human being is to affect people around them and the world at large in positive ways... To impact and impart as much as possible before the end of one's life... Positive impacts and impartations...

Remember, no matter how many years one lives or will live, those years pass by in moments, seconds and minutes... Live in every of those moments, revel in them, be immersed in them and when your time to go comes, you'll go knowing you did all the positive things you could, to all the people you could at all the times you could...

We will eventually die someday but I do not believe life ends at death. Neither does the reality of death make life (or living) worthless.

I think the most important question would be "how did you live your life"? People like Mother Teresa and Martin Luther etc. still live in the hearts of many. They are still a source of inspiration to many even though they are dead.

Your goals, accomplishments, dreams etc. need not be useless after you are dead, they can inspire many too.

I don't know what is you're going through specifically but I hope you find strength

Are you trying to be funny? Being a sickler is a challenge but certainly not fun. In essence, not all challenges are fun.

Life would certainly be less fun if we had our way with everything. Let's take for a example, an undergraduate trying to make First Class. Making First Class becomes a challenge while reading and working hard becomes fun. If the latter wasn't a prerequisite for the former, then you'd certainly agree with that school wouldn't be fun anymore.

Another typical example was the challenges faced by African nationalists. They derived some sort of fulfilment in working towards freeing us from the shackles of the colonial masters.

Simply put, without challenges, life wouldn't be worth living.

Can you ever be objective when quoting me? First you called me feeble because according to you, I refused to see all challenges as fun. I asked a question that has been bothering me. It makes me human, inquisitive, wanna understand what this life is all about. I'm not feeble.

Your question is unique; as is any question pondering on the meaning or purpose of life.

The essence of life is one’s innate characteristics, quality and substance of thoughts and actions. A person of the aforesaid qualities, generally, radiates personality flair. Let me give an example of such person from history:

His name was Goethe a German philosopher, poet and other attributes. In his own life he experienced much sorrow, but gradually he gained an inner command over life’s difficulties and attained a detachment and calm which brought peace to him. Napoleon first saw him when he was over sixty. As he stood in the doorway, there was something in his face and figure, an untroubled look and bearing so full of dignity, that Napoleon exclaimed: “Voila un homme!” meaning (Look) “What a man!”

Whoever acquires detachment and calm following difficult time may emerge a person with essence of life spreading fragrance of his/her qualities. There are many dignitaries in this category, but the above just flashed in my mind.

So in summary, to me the essence of life is To Know Thyself. For me "know thyself" means to know your authentic self, true you or sincere core. Name it however you'd like to.

It's to know your real:

Goals (what do you want in life?)
Values (why do you want to achieve your goals?)
Style (how do you want to achieve your goals?)
From here one can move towards their dreams and have happy, fulfilled life.

In my opinion, it's not enough to "know thyself", you need to "be thyself". You might find out your true want but still doing a job you hate. You've got to have guts to follow your heart. You will thank yourself later for this.

To answer your question, I want you to keep something in mind, and that is; Wisdom , when pursued to its utmost extent, becomes foolishness. I will illustrate that point further in this answer.

The short answer is philosophically speaking, Life is pointless. Everything is pointless. Yes.

If you read Ecclesiastes very well, you will understand the true nature of our existence. It is completely pointless, and that fact has serious implications for the mindset we have, and how we live this pointless life.

The implication is you either have to become a Stoic hedonist, or an ascetic.

Live life, enjoy it, pursue pleasure, if you get it , fine, if you don't fine, if you are rich fine, if not, fine.....in the long run...nothing matters...we will all die and the universe will grind on.

In the end the same bacteria eat our bodies and we turn to nothing... so where are we headed.. Where are we going? After enjoying lots of fun at the age of 20, we age into beings that can barely move at the age of 70...

Life is not actually like that, but that is how Human beings think life is... What is life actually, why do you need air to survive, what is your consciousness.

To be truthful, you need to first understand what you are and who you are before you can understand who you are... remember that you are not makydebbie or debbie or deborah or whatever your name is... That name is who your parents say you are and not who you actually are...

We are born and the next thing we believe is that girls are supposed to do this or do that.. who taught us to do all that.. Who started life and who started the rules... Why do we live the way we do... Why are their religions and everything.

For you to understand the purpose of life, you have to actually have a broad mind. You have to forget everything you believed....

Why can't you wear blue, black, green, yellow, red and white together. Because people will say it is color riot... so is that what life is all about living for other people...

Why can't you wear tattered clothes outside, because of what people will think... Is life all about other people or about you...

That is why we can't learn the true purpose of life, because we keep thinking about ourselves, we keep thinking of why we have to struggle...

The universe is so large, have you asked yourself, why there are so many animals in the world or so many fishes in the waters, why do we need so many species... Why does life exist everywhere...

Where is life going to and why does it exist in the first place... Why do I have to grow, go to school and get a job and work till I age, then give birth and my kids repeat the process... is this how life is or is this how humans beings want life to be... For you to understand the purpose of life you need to stop thinking about how humans beings live their life and start asking about why everything exists and where everything is going to... Why do the clouds exists and why are they here..

one thing I have come to realise is DAT, each time we wear our problems on our face and worry abt dem each passing day, dats wen it weigh us down and eat us of our joy and happiness.

I once read a book, I have forgotten the author tho, its titled "game of life and how to play it".

The author sees life as a game, she believes that if we can have negative tot in our heart and dey come to past, y can't we be positive also for it to become a fruition in our lives.

There is no one without challenges, our attitude towards life is all that matters.

My motto has always been, "nothing is worth worrying over"

Also, each time we act like our challenges don't exist, dats wen we win but d more we meditate it in our mind, it becomes a stronghold, pulling us down always.

There is a reason for life. You are here to fulfill a purpose and if you don't find or know what that purpose is, then life seems meaningless.

You have asked a very good question. It's not just about having Christ.
I will advice you take out time to read this book 'The purpose driven life' by Rick Warren. Believe you me, it will shape your perspective and help you find that purpose and give your life a better meaning.
