Yea, I am very aware of that report. I made reference to it in a thread months back. Majority of us are managing our lives in this country, but we somehow make out money to spend on frivolity.

It's just crazy....

I'm 31 yrs old.

This question is not something one can give a straight answer. It depends on location. For instance, settling in Lagos and other major cities in Nigeria will result to spending higher due to transportation, health, feeding and housing cost when compared to other locations with lower cost of living.

It also depends on the financial management, where for example a combined monthly revenue of N400,000 will be fine for some couples while N800,000 might not fly for others due to their exorbitant spending.

Best thing is to have enough reserve in order to bail yourself when emergent financial issue show up.

You have a good plan but how come were u able to save 100k on monthly basis while spending just 20k? Are u in Lagos? Is your work place close to your residence?

When you must have save the money, kindly invest in a profitable business with high ROI instead of thinking about travelling out. Not all who had travelled out made it.

Agreed, marry a lady that will bring something to the table, no matter how small it is. Don't settle for broke/hungry lady bro. You will be her ATM machine for life.

Your intelligence is obviously failing you 'cause we're saying the same thing. Difference is, I didn't outline like you did 'cause I presume one should know it's not limited to food.

Wow! @500k isn't enough for a bachelor, when some married with less that amount? grin

Please house I want to ask is there a certain amount of cash you need to have before planning to settle down? for instance one need to have up-to 500k in his account before thinking of settling down. please I need you input.
A nairalander opened a thread and shared how he's about to get married on a salary of 30k and how he had smartly broken down the expenses. You don't need millions to get married. I know a guy who at that time was earning 8k as a salary and got married with support of friends and family, the girl was pregnant though so he had to do a wedding. The point is kimbraa already said it, so long you're capable of feeding more than 2 people and you know you're not a lazy guy who will starve and suffer someone's daughter then you're good. A friend waited for years till he got married, he told me that if he had known he would have married on time because there is no big difference with what he used to spend on himself and what he does on his family now. All you have to do is learn management skills and hope your wife isn't the lazy kind that sits home doing nothing

Your question looks childish; the replies you've gotten so far, childish too.

You don't literally need to have 500k in your bank account before thinking of getting married.

You just need to have a steady source of income that will be enough to cater for a family.

A man might be running a business with less than 500k, but he makes steady profits from the business. He might decide to folk out 150k for traditional marriage(depending on the state he intends to marry from), then later he can do church wedding.

Having the mentality that I need to save up to half a million before getting married has kept many men above 35 single.

If you can clothe, feed, provide health care etc for 3 persons comfortably, then getting married shouldn't be a problem.

But while at it, avoid marrying leeches

oversabi. Considering naija's present economy, how many pipo can provide quality 3 square meal for themselves dis days? Or u tink the news abt job losses is fiction? This is why some men of 35 r still single not the baloney u spilled up there.
