d33types:Odiegwu! "No fresh Doctor take (sic) home 300k". How much is a house officer entitled to monthly in public service let alone a junior registrar? Nigerians and their selfishness. They will be quick to say it is a lie but won't say it out because they know that they are not fighting a just course. |

Apart from core health proffesional like Pharmacist, Nurses, Physiotherapist etc, we have professionals like Engineers, Accountants, Lawyer who work in hospitals and contribute greatly to the running of the facilities, but according to our doctors all these people are dumbos because they chose not to read medicine. How did we get here God? |

doctokwus:if not for the division of labour what you said they should do is nothing but for surgeries. everything that concerns internal medicine and other investigations can be done smoothly by pharmacists. There are so many things a pharm is trained to do but couldn't cos of job description and you know that too. I dear the government to open consulting rooms for pharmacist's should the NMA go on strike. Only then will the government, policy makers and the public get to know they've been hoodwinked by the NMA all the while. With the proliferation of private medical laboratories, radiodiagnostic/scanning labs the NMAs aggression is been checked at the door. The health field is one that is evolving continously and the NMA should accept the bitter fact that the dispensers of yesterday are today's clinicians. Already, governments and policy makers are been lobbied to expand the scope of pharmacy practice as we're ever ready to assume more roles and responsibilities...This is becoming the norm already across the globe before someone will come to preach international best practices. Across the world and even in the Asian subcontinent health care is all about collaboration and team work with the dr leading the clinical team not the administrative head of the hospitals unlike what we have here. anyone with the requisite knowledge, skills and ability can lead the hospital not necessarily drs or health workers...This i think is the reason for their success in health care. |

YorubaAssasin:what do you know? in case u don't know nurse's and pharmacist have be the people covering for all the incompetent doc. we have in this country.. useless doctors that doesn't know how to prescribe common drugs...pharmacist and nurse's have be correcting their wrong proscriptions...they are just b over hype.. one doctor that almost terminated my sister's pregnancy by proscribing indocid for one month and two weeks old ...it was a pharmacist that safe her.. |

ultron12345:Do you people have sense at all!! ![]() It will be easier to sack all the doctors if they go on strike than sack JOHESU members! JOHESU is a multitude compared to med doctors who are fewer! |

DABMarkNig2019:if u like, kill yourself. I dare johesu to leave the hospital pharmacy. Everything our hospital pharmacists do can be done by an SSCE holder, infact, anyone who can read and write. Doctor writes prescription, u read it and bring it off the shelf, finish. You people know that if the pharmacist is left open, your strike will be ineffective, same with lab scientists who lock that labs and nurses who hide hospital equipment, sometime hospital security even lock consulting rooms. Without all these, johesu strike will be ineffective, no-one will even notice their absence. Your mates in abroad are manufacturing drugs and doing groundbreaking research, you are here dragging salary with doctors and dispensing drugs made by your mates in China and India. And don't come with that lie of mentioning Nigerian pharmaceuticals, what they do is market drugs produced abroad, more than 95% of our drugs are imported, the remaining 5% have majority of their ingredients imported. It's a pity. Nigerian pharmacists ought to be ashamed of themselves. |
| Re: Health Workers Relax Strike In Lagos, Kano, Yobe by ultron12345: 9:49am On May 18, 2018 |
Jman06:Johesu is easier to replace, with the hundreds of nursing schools in the country, our pharmacists are willing to kill to leaving their pharmaceutical marketing jobs to take dispensing jobs at govt. hospitals, our universities produce thousands of lab scientists yearly, for every one doctor produced, more than 7 lab scientist are produced, cleaners and gatemen are everywhere. |

stanflex222:that thread opened on here some years back by a nairalander who almost died after taking a pharmacists prescription but was saved by the doctor readily comes to mind. Let me find the link. My prayer for you is that when you or your close relatives urgently need a doctor, you will see none, rather, you will see pharmacist and nurses. |

| Re: Health Workers Relax Strike In Lagos, Kano, Yobe by Nobody: 10:05am On May 18, 2018 |
ultron12345:i know the thread you're talking about. It was created last year by an asthmatic pt who reacted to the drug he was placed on by the dr. It wasn't the pharmacist nor drs fault. I believe you know about idiosyncratic or type B reactions...so rare and uncommon but can happen to anyone. get your facts right before tarnishing the image of any profession. |

ultron12345:Hehehe...you obviously don't have any other thing meaningful to say! Lolzz @ pharmacists are ready to come and work in hospital! A pharmacist would now leave the drug market where he is making millions to come and work in government hospital?? Bro, tell another lie! I have many med doctor friends who are earning #50k per month in private hospitals and are seriously begging to be employed by government. Many med doctor consultants are in private hospitals too and earning peanuts. Place an advert today for med doctors and you will see the multitude that will apply both from within and outside the country. |

Johesu are winning. It's nice to know that the governors of these states are now cooperating. Useless and greedy N.M.A Local champions, go outside the country and see real doctors. Malaria and typhoid specialists. Google-aided drug prescribers. Place them alongside foreign doctors and see how inferior they will look. Peanut earners. Boring beings with narcissistic personality disorder. I so much love the hate and resentment that is now fully in the health sector. |

ultron12345:you are saying nonsense, it's like u don't know the no of medical school we presently have in Nigeria. I don't know the number of med lab sch that we have but am sure the number of medical sch we av is way more than that of pharmacy school. you guys(doctors) are getting too much sef, to see place for housemanship na war, stop deceiving yourself with ur "few in number" mentality |

I am very disappointed at this health minister, this is same man, then as a union leader fought pmb government to standstill n 1983 on a similar issue, Johesu is fighting for now. Human being are wicked.. |

ultron12345:if only you can count the number of medical schools in Nigeria in comparison with pharmacy, nursing and med lab schools...from there you'll get the correct statistics...a pharmacist's killing himself for government hospital job is really funny. many pxcists have left or refuse to pick up hospital jobs that i know so I don't know what you are saying. that all a pharmacists does in the hospital is dispensing is laughable..could that be the reason you frown when you see students pxcists coming for their ward rounds? NMA hasn't seen anything yet...The heat you're receiving from hospital pharmacists now with be nothing compared to what the younger, energetic and full blooded clinical pharmacists will be putting on you in the nearest future if you don't get ur ways right b4 then. |

ultron12345:what an irony. is it not your mates Buhari and et al are running to abroad? Your mates are carrying out ground breaking surgeries using cutting edge technology in the UK, USA, Europe,Canada and Ghana you're not ashamed staying here dragging the treatment of chronic illnesses, infectious dxs, internal medicine, and primarily care with me. There's nothing basically a Nigerian dr can do that a pharmacist cannot do outside surgical procedures. |
