By a lady simply wearing a nose ring and a guy rocking dreds or a crazy hair style you have lost 80% of the respect that can be accorded you on fisrt appearance.
Just imagine getting to the hospital and meeting a doctor with tattoos, painted hair-do and a nose ring, no matter how good on the job the doctor maybe you will first be taken aback.

My parents don't have a say in who I end up with, I'm just being courteous introducing her to them, but one thing is for sure, I'll make sure they get along, I love nose rings, if she wants to wear them, excellent!

There are dressing for different occasion. If she is going for a job interview she will dress formally and modestly. I'm not sure she will want to were nose ring to visit her parents, if her parent is from naija. Marriage is between two people, but it is also a union of two families. If she does not have regard for his family it shows that. She does not love the man.

I get your point. Location matters. If I was dating 50cents' daughter or maybe Pdiddy's daughter or maybe Snoopdog's daughter, I guess they would feel cool with me in some sagging baggy jeans, some blings hanging around my neck, rings everywhere etc and me flailing my hands like they normally do in their music videos.

But the girl in question here is an African, a Nigerian for that matter and the boyfriend knows who his parents are. They are no Snoopdogs. Lol.

So unless she values her ego more than the relationship I'd say she better lose the nose ring.

But to be honest, as a parent, what comes to mind when you see a lady with like 4 earrings on each ear, nose ring, rings in almost all fingers, maybe even toe ring, ankle chain, top that's showing her navel, tight jeans or leggings revealing her crotch. Only one word comes to mind, SKANK.

Well this is nigeria where appearance really matters and where our parents are very judgemental. If she wants her guy's parents to accept her she just has to remove d ring.in nigeria if u introducing a lady as a would be wife to ur parents and she has huge tattoos all over her body dat are visible and she's with a nose ring..d parents might not take well to her oo..especially if they are the very religious conservative parents. Its jus d way things are here.

The guy might love the nose ring but it is a different thing when she's meeting the parent. She has to look the part. His parents don't need to know his preference is a ghen ghen girl.

A lot of guys have done this, encouraged their gfs to tone it down a notch when they are meeting their parents, it's not cause they don't like your crazy hair colour, your piercings or tattoos or your semi nude clothes, it's because their parents approval is very necessary and they want their parents to approve of you.

Nose rings and 'leg chains' (i.e. anklets) are a common part of women's dressing, among some far Northern tribes. Among Fulanis, Geras, Kanuris etc, nose ring is common. And the women who wear it are not 'oloshos'. Even the respectable married ones among them, wear it. Free your mind.

The ladies should just compromise and take off the damm nose ring.
