iLegendd: That thinking is wrong and harmful. The point is being yourself and not trying to impress anyone. Compliments is a positive thing and should be taken for what they are which is "compliment" it is left for you to decide if the complement is with good or bad intentions after all your enemies can give you compliments as well. The fact the thought of your "caging" and all that you said even occurred to you means you are wanting in self confidence. If you are self confident you don't bother about what people say because you believe in yourself and say what you wanna say without even thinking about the compliments or insults but when you are not confident you hesitate and ponder what you are about to say putting in the compliments in consideration and thats when your issue of caging or no caging comes in. You start deciding if it's caging or not caging so you know how to reply. It is all about self confidence please an innocent compliment is exactly what it is "a compliment" when you keep on being yourself it's either the compliments keep coming in or the insults keep coming in while you keep on doing what comes natural to you. When I give a reply, you feel validated and start giving unnecessary points to be seen as intelligent. Alright, let's trash your Nwaamaikpe's analogy to make you happy. Let's turn his name to James. James doesn't have a business motive on Nairaland, but I do. If you don't have a business motive on Nairaland, then acting like IamJ or James will be great. What makes James look interesting to you is his use of words and vocabularies and also his never replying policy. When I joined Nairaland, I was using this method (this was before James joined) because I had nothing to lose — I had no business intention, but when I switched my use of NL to business, I had to switch tactics. Since he has nothing to lose, why should he reply a negative comment? There is another psychology in not replying negative or positive remarks. When you ignore, that person will be angry, but he or she will respect you more. This makes the person ignoring you seem above your league. This is the impression James has created. He drops the bomb and never comes back to check negative or positive comments because he doesn't care and has nothing to lose. In business, when you drop the bomb, you need to care a little and check your prey. If you don't, you'll lose money. The reason I'm replying you with this long epistle is because I'll make money from this comment at the end. Take away the money and you won't see my reply. Replying everyone makes one lose value and respect. In my case, I may lose respect for engaging every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the comment section, but I'm not losing money. In James case, he will lose money for not engaging every Tom, Dick, and Harry, but may not lose respect. In fact, he is currently using absence to increase value and that's why you don't see him around nowadays and people are already missing him. When I left NL for a month, I came back and saw a thread of people asking after my whereabout. Absence increases value and respect. The reason I said you'll fail woefully in business is because you're following James. He doesn't have an online business, so he can do whatever he wants. When you have an online business, you can do whatever you want, but you'll need to tone down your IDC attitude. When you start thinking like a leader or a business man, you'll start putting compliments or negative remarks to consideration. Let's take you as an example. You came to my thread and countered what I said. If I were James, I would've ignore to keep my respect. Initially, I ignored you — just the way you wanted it. Since I'm iLegend and I think like a leader and a business man, I had to analyze your negative remark, look for a loophole, and press one or two of your mumu buttons to trigger controversy and drama. In the business world, controversy + drama = fame + money. In this our conversation, you'll take the fame while I take the money. Now, you'll be wondering how I'll make money from this, but that's a topic for another day. In the business world, forget about vocabularies and embrace simplicity or a lay man's language. If you want to be seen as tough and intelligent without making money from it, then use James' method. If you want to be seen as business-smart, use iLegend's method. If you want to come up with yours, then the sky is too big for all birds to fly — just be creative. It's all a win, win, win. I go home with the money, you go home with the fame, and readers go home feeling well-entertained. I have answered you and now I don't want this Issue to linger anymore. Amazon, CreateSpace, Draft2Digital, etc. handle the foreign version with a different pen name. Though, I'm not a writer. I only write because I find it easy and fun sharing my experiences and teaching guys some secrets about relationship and other things in life in a simple to understand language. Yes, Nigerians hate to read, but I'm seeing a different thing. These sets of guys are actually buying and reading. In fact, they are voracious readers. It's just that: when something works, it becomes addictive. Most of the people who read our ChatDicted 1.0 book always request for 2.0, just like the message below — despite the book being 550 pages. Nigerians are now reading. Pesin wey known know, no go know.

There is no one adept at everything, and It is quite normal for people to get praised when they exceed expectations, or when they attain achievements. While you were busy cracking your brain to reply me, yet couldn't come up with anything, I was busy using that small time to write a full book. When I was done, I went to Pixabay.com, grabbed a free picture, switched on Photoshop and designed a book cover for it. It took me less than 20 minutes. See images below. "What am I trying to say?" you asked. What I'm trying to say is: use your time wisely and stop arguing online if you can't convert your argument to money. Anyway, the short book is free.
