In 2014/2015 pressed by the desire for a change from the banalities of the Jonathan government, I fell under the spell of the change mantra. I normally detest herd mentality but I was taken in by the APC well crafted political strategy. It was Buhari's six months inertia and the unclad nepotism of his first appointments that removed the blinkers from my eyes. His stark unintelligence eventually made me turn 360 and today I am staunchly anti Buhari.

Just like you I'm neither APC nor PDP. Once again we are seeing the whipping up of atavistic sentiments as the chief element for political consideration. I will never be a party to this mindlessness again.

Government, politics is a huge fraud in Nigeria. When illiterate Mallams get deceived it is something to be sad about, but when supposedly educated youths take sides on the deceptive political divide of APC /PDP without seeing that this two categories simply do not exist in the minds of our politicians then one knows that a tragedy of immense proportions is unfolding right before our eyes.

Take the issue of the NASS invasion last week. It was abominable. But still it sounded hollow to me when the word in the air, mouthed by our crafty politicians was that we must protect 'our democracy'. If you look just a bit below the surface, you'd understand what they are saying, you'd understand that they are saying that 'our democracy' is the system that guarantees and legitimises their current lifestyle of graft, of unaccountability, of fraud, of fat bank accounts and the perks of office. That's what is to be protected not any God damn democracy. They really don't care about 'our democracy'.

Ordinary, my local government in the Orolu Kingdom was clearing 200m Naira monthly allocation at some point. To renovate the library, dem no do, and were begging ordinary me to give them my money instead of spending it on the library they were responsible for! But can you say that's what this government has been doing? I can't! When allocation drop to 200k, come see dem de hunger. Na so me I de laff dem! The money no kuku de, so wetin dem wan thief?

The cesspit of Jonathan spilled out into the street. Buhari's government (and I don't see it as an APC thing cos corruption is a Nigerian thing not defined by party affiliations) cannot fight corruption. Once again I enjoin you to broaden your definition of corruption. It's not only about stealing money. And yes money is being stolen big time too now and rankadede is still in the air. What 10 people were stealing under Jonathan is now being stolen by just one or two under PMB. The anti corruption fight on the socio political field is like show boating in football. It can earn a player accolades but good coaches know that there's really no practical substance to it. Buhari is just chasing after the wind.
I'd say to you just like a man said to me one day 'you cannot fight corruption until you have secured the right of the people'. In case that is hard to figure then savour this: 'You never change things by fighting the existing reality.To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete'- Buckminster Fuller. This is the real hard work to be done by anyone serious about remaking Nigeria and not some skimpy foot, selective fight against corruption such as is presently being carried out by the government of PMB.

They had no evidence, most of them took the newspaper cuttings of their allegations to the tribunal.

As their evidence…Cuttings of newspapers publications where they said N2.8billion was missing. That was their evidence. That was what they took to the Irikefe panel.

Tell me what we don't know about Babachir as set out by Kperogi. Has he been punished? Tell me what we don't know about Maina debacle. Didn't you read Eyo Ita's memo which was circulated online even here on nairaland? What else do you know about Obla and Adeosun different from Kperogi's views that makes his views not be be journalism? I am disappointed that Kemi's nysc is not at least being investigated. My opinion, expressed on here somewhere, is that if she did fake it, then she might be faking other things, like cheques to steal our money, and for that reason, should be investigated, and if found in the wrong, prosecuted, and if found guilty, made to pay the fine. In "other climes" , she would have resigned already.

Whenever I'm in Nigeria, however, I am constantly informed that I can't be local government chairman, not that I intend to, mind. They tell me that when Kabiyesi tells me to bring the allocation, "let us share it" , or when the governor demands 90% be returned to the party, you will be talking oyinbo, say "that's not how it's done in other climes!"

As much as I wish we were better, we are not living by the rules of other climes! You will forgive me when I say I don't have idealic expectations where Nigeria is concerned! Nor do I expect perfection from Buhari. But he is better, in my opinion, than the alternatives.

I was discussing with my elder sister yesterday and she told me she has set out a plan to re-locate to Canada next year. In all honesty, I'm starting to give it serious thoughts all of a sudden. This country has self-destructed.

But I also don't think a boycott of the elections will solve anything. Before you entered Uniabuja, there was a time we protested and marched for things that mattered.

I remember when we almost destroyed that lecturers building that is relocated when you enter from behind female hostel into the school. That was over an injustice that was meted out to a student. I broke a leg in that one. I rremember when we marched with the NLC to NTA and the National Assembly.

This country's youth can protest and thereafter, put forward those whom they trust and who are filled with the zeal to lead and tired of the rot. Imagine electing almost all those who occupy all major political offices across the entire country. Imagine those people being very active members of the revolution. Imagine the changes that will be brought to bear.

But will it ever happen?! We both know it won't.

The youth can democratically protest. You just ain't hungry enough yet, and the older people are washing your brains.

Educate yourselves. Chose some younger people. Campaign to have them elected. Emancipate yourselves!
