I love teachers. I love them so much especially the devoted ones who are after positive impacts in the lives of their students. The ones who care truly and make sacrifices for the all round growth (psychological mental and intellectual) of their kids. May God bless them.

Op, every professions have an effect on their practitioners, I'm glad yours was a positive one and I'm also happy you took a break from it for greater heights. May your dreams come through. smiley

A society that neglects its teachers is a society bound to fail. How can a society producing illiterates ever move forward? We can look around and see the results. Those in the profession.... I raise my hat to you...keep on doing what you're doing!

Why did you stop teaching??

Teachers are generally undervalued across the world.

I for one think that those that teach children at their very young age are the most important. They can either make or mar the child.

Nothing like having a great educational foundation to build on for the rest of your life.

I want to further my education.

Teachers really ought to be appreciated and paid much better.

Goodness knows that I can never go into teaching.. Its not easy at all.
My one year teaching experience during nysc was not funny and made me appreciate teachers more. Those secondary school kids frustrated my life. And I don't have patience for stubborn kids.. Na cane I use humble them. I no send.

Making lesson notes and then marking exam scripts for almost 400 students nko, recording and all that stuff. Tufia.. I can't do it again..

Teachers God bless you.

Inspiring write up. I was once a teacher too, although I taught teens not kids, but I can still relate. You teach them and learn from them too, and even get somewhat attached at times... like they become like your family.

I remember when I had to end my teaching appointment at a certain school and the kids almost started crying... it made me so emotional. Or one day when I was sad, sitting in my room and I got a phone call from one of my students telling me he got his highest score in Geography Jamb exam because of me and it helped boost his overall score.

Hi,are u that good in geography

Makydebbie, wonder why you left though. Was it just a part time thing for you?!

I'm reading comments on this thread and seeing that a lot of people are still very ignorant about today's teacher and how much or well they are catered for. There is a massive and total shift from what was. Only thing is, you must be very good at what you do.

A lot of schools now pay over 80k and some even start with 100k, in addition to all the travelling courses and other allowances.

Teaching has gone beyond the four walls of the school. We have taken it to the level of what other major countries are at.

Debbie, I will do this too. But with lots of pictures. I'll tag you to it when I do.

I'm waiting smiley

You really do not blame people for the misconception, most schools do not pay much. I taught in one way back, when I remember how much I was paid, I laugh grin. Teachers are really under-appreciated and poorly paid. I wish the government can fix that.
