Goodmorning house! Just a little bit of advise.. If you are going to Canada and enrouting via anywhere in the US, you will need a transit visa, so find out from your airline before you pay, and if you have paid, start looking for a way out.

Have a nice day

I hail everyone in this forum. I am new here and need help.. I graduated from osunstate uni from department of political Science and want to further more but due to my cgpa 2.56/5.0 ,I don't think I can get to the masters level. I came across a school in Canada that offers pgd in public administration which is related to my first degree and the school name is Seneca college in Toronto. my questions are:
1) Is it advisable to get admission without ielts /toefl ? won't it show as a sign of laziness to the v.o
2) won't the v.o see my application somehow, not going for masters direct?
3) do Canadian v.o see some schools in Canada as no go area?
it does not matter. i also got admission for a pgd instead of masters and was offered the visa.my advice is, just make sure you have your documents and acc statement.

Nothing will happen. If your passport will expire before the end of your program, CIC will simply issue you a visa valid till the expiry date on the passport. The same applies for the Study permit. What this means is that at some point during your studies in Canada, you will have to apply for study permit extension. It not really a big deal.
are you going to canada?

Please how did you get the webform, I need one
Dan1936,

Use the WEB FORM to send a CSE to the processing visa office in charge of your application. If you submitted through online route, send it across to London and Lagos immigration office. Whereas, if Paper route send it to the Nairobi Visa office.

All the best!

You need to go and do the upfront medical with Children Practice in Ikoyi. I did it on Tuesday and my medical has been updated as Passed this Thursday 16th of August. I am only waiting for the approval Mail now from CIC. That is my Two Cents to you...
Biakwa:
Good day house,

Please one big question,

I am yet get medical call school resumption is 3rd of September.. If I decide to differ till January now. What will be the implication if the visa is refused in terms of refund from the school.. Also, what will be the implications if visa is later granted (are we going to inform CIC that we have a new admission letter or what?) This is the thing we are delineating on as school already started any visa that has not been stamped on or before 20th should differ admission to next season.....

Approval Alert! Long Post Alert Too.

I applied on July 26th online. I received a medical request August 8th, I did it the next day in PH. My medicals was updated as pass earlier today around 11am, and about 30mins ago, the approval and Passport request landed.

Msc, McGill University
Documents submitted.
My Sponsor is my Fiancée's Sister. I submitted her personal and business' statements of account (She is a small business owner), with a combined balance of about 13 million naira after she has transferred my estimated tuition fee for 1 year to me (1.2m).
Sponsorship and affidavit of sponsorship letter.
CAC documents of her business
My Fiancée's and my Sponsor’s birth certificates and my Sponsor’s International passport data page (single travel history to dubai).
Sponsor’s family picture of about 8years ago showing me at her convocation ceremony from the University (My Fiancée is in the picture too).
My engagement dinner picture with my Fiancee.

SOP(2 pages)
Resume (It shows my two research publications in international peer-reviewed journals and my current project)
Statement of my long-standing Mutual funds investment account with ARM (1.4m current balance).
TOEFL Result (I wrote it last year for another purpose, McGill didn't require it from me, but I sha submitted it anyway in the rush)
Offer letter from McGill.
CAQ approval letter from Quebec.
Email approval of my Differential Fee Waiver Award from McGill (This DFW allows me to pay tuition and other fees at Quebec rate which is about 1.2m (4120 CAD) instead of International rate which is 19820 CAD).
My NYSC call-up letter, and PPA posting letter (I am currently a youth corper).
My MDCN Annual Practicing License.
My birth certificate, University degree and Transcript.
Parents' and my 4 siblings' birth certificates.
My retired father's landed property and valuation (I didn't do deed of transfer). Valued at 8m.
My father's RSA statement as at when he retired years ago. Balance was 4m.

I was denied Visa twice in the space of a month last year to go and present one of my research work in New York. Also, I was denied a UK visa this last May to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum as one of the youth delegates representing Nigeria at the last concluded CHOGM in London. I had another paper to present early last month in London too, however, I couldn't even dare apply for a visa again, so I begged one of my co-authors to make the presentation. He already had a UK visa. I have never travelled out of this country before as an adult so my passport is Virgin.

I didn't pay for Tuition, McGill generally doesn't allow you pay tuition until you have both your CAQ and your Study Permit.

I thank God for His mercies, as I didn't know I will be applying for the study permit until days before that July 26th. But God practically fast-tracked my approval. Thanks to @jnyuwa02 and @frankrobben for their immense contributions to this group. I arranged my documents in a hurry based on their back and forth on this thread from day 1.

If their is anything to learn from this my divine grace, is that no two applications are the same. And to always say the truth too. I explained all my visa denials and I filled in the TB part of the application that I recently managed a patient that was diagnosed of Tuberculosis under my care and I was in close contact with him as his Doctor for weeks. I didn't know how such information could have affected my application, but I couldn't bring myself to lying about such exposure while I was filling the form.

Last last, I Thank God!
Congratulations, your application was extremely fast, July applicants over to you.

Good day my people:

I have a quick question to ask.

I recently got my TRV application approved and would be travelling from the EU with a valid residence permit to Canada. Most of the flights that I have seen have brief layovers (4 hours max in the UK). I would like to know if I will be needing a transit visa to go through the UK. The airline could not provide me with this information. Your urgent answers are needed so as to enable me make an informed decision before the prices go up again.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by mightyola: 10:20am On Aug 17, 2018
Best of my knowledge, as long as you don't have plans of leaving the airport and going into the city, you don't need a transit Visa. You would just have to wait in the airport. There would be free wifi, so charge your phone and your laptop to keep you company. Best of Luck

Unless they have an international flight to catch around the time of your stop over. I may be wrong but I think you can't go past immigration unless you have a VISA.

Yes they can see you at the airport. You can't come out of the Airport. They will have to come inside to see you.

It depends on the airport settings. If the waiting room is behind the entry counter you can but if it's not you won't be allowed to.

UK has two transit facilities,
(1) AIRSIDE TRANSIT: This is for those who will be arriving UK airport by air and depart by air and wil not go through they immigration . Nigerians with USA, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand visas do not need a UK transit visa to transit but must have a confirmed onward ticket to their destinations and must depart the UK airport by 23:59hrs of the following day, latest.

2.LANDSIDE: This is for those who will be be arriving UK airport by air and depart by air and wil go through they immigration to change airport. E.g arriving the London Hearthrow from Lagos to London and will depart London through the London Gatwick or City Airport. Nigerians with USA, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand visas do not need a UK transit visa to transit but must have a confirmed onward ticket to their destinations and must depart the UK airport by 2359hrs the next day, latest.

In summary, if you want to see a friend or family in London before you go to Canada. Do LANDSIDE and make your time of connection to the next day in London Gatwick before 2359hrs of that next day. But be warned, don't make a costly mistake of telling the UK immigration that you want to visit somebody o, you will be deported back to Lagos. Just tell them you are doing a LANDSIDE transit and make your ticket handy and show it to them. When you pass the immigration, you can go to anywhere you like before your next flight to Canada
