Shame on Kemi Adeosun! She shows no remorse for her forgery and the stress caused the polity by her stupid silence over the matter well over 2 months ago! Since when did she become privy to the report of the investigation showing that the certificate was forged? So all this while, she was deaf and dumb not to have approached NYSC to confirm the genuineness of her ''Oluwole' exemption letter! Shame on NYSC for deceiving Nigerians that she applied! Nowhere in her letter did she own up to have done so! Shame on Femi Adesina, Garba Shehu, Lai Mohammed, 'senile' Itse Sagay and all those defending the forgery all along. Kemi must be prosecuted to test the integrity of Buhari's government! Obono Obla is next on line! His alleged forged WAEC result must be probed NOW! Shame, shame, shame

He is right. She admitted that the exemption document isn't genuine. She therefore presented a fake document.

Let us assume she is telling the truth that she does not know it is fake, since when has ignorance become a form of defence?

Best case scenario: charge her to court, convict her and let her be granted presidential pardon.

Den make she pack her kaya face UK de go.

You read were she said she approach NYSC for her certificate? Now what if someone duped her and issued her fake cert from NYSC? After all a road safety officer sold a fake plate number and registration to me .

What are u saying sef. U tink in court explanations that says it all is what vindicates u? Prove prove my friend. And the only evidence here is that she is in possession of a fake nationally recognized certificate. That is certificate falsification which is a punishable offence.

I do not believe she was unaware of the forgery. It was said the lawmakers blackmailed her into releasing funds, but how can she yield to the blackmail without first being conscious of object and true nature of it? Yielding to the blackmail is proof she was aware.

She admitted commiting a crime and should be charged to court. There is no sense of honesty, apology or remorse in her letter, its all about her being ignorant of the forgery.

Overall your resignation is most honourable even though the damages has been done but you will forever be honoured for it. You have my utmost respect..Goodluck on ur future endearvors.

You’ve done ur path madam, the lord will reward u greatly.

U met a crumbled economy but u revived it, NYSC or no NYSC, You Nigeria out of recession.

This is what honorable people do in sane society, they resign whenever there is any allegation against them.
Saraki has more than dozen allegations with evidence hanging around him but today he is jostling around to contest as the president because Nigeria is a lawless nation.

Mere political allegations you mean? You forgot to mention that Supreme Court already cleared him.

all of you talking about 'crime' and 'ignorance of the law is no excuse' clearly do not have a grasp of the context of that statement. See, whether what she said is the truth or not, that statement already vindicates her. Take her to court and you will only waste your time and money.

ignorance of the law scenario: you steal a goat and get caught. Then you are charged to court, and your defense is that you didn't know stealing food/livestock is a crime, that you only thought stealing money is. Now it is in this context that you can use that statement.

adeosun's scenario: you come to the country. you need a drivers license. So you are linked to an FRSC official who charges you most likely way above what is necessary and also goes ahead to give you a fake driver's license, cos he knows there is no way you can get one within the timeline you expect, but he needs the money and produces the fake anyway. he is an FRSC official and he assures you of the validity of the card. Now in this context, you cannot use that statement. At best, you will provide details of the person who 'swindled' you. I say swindled in this case, cos based on this narrative she is the victim.

PS: I have been a victim of this with the FRSC years ago. Thankfully, I spoke in clear terms to their boss and I guess he saw my sincerity. I explained that i met a familiar face from my Uni who was with the FRSC. my license was about to expire so I linked up with him. I did the capturing etc, but lo and behold the card I got after waiting for one month was still a fake apparently. I just didn't wanna throw the guy under the bus, cos they were asking for his full name, but I explained that I only knew him by his nickname. Thankfully the fake one was also about to expire so I just paid for a fresh one and went thru the capturing wahala again.

All these hired agents and ipob miscreants spewing verbiage on a straight forward matter. Very lazy people, they won't read and will be commenting. Kemi was accused of presenting a forged Nysc exemption certificate. The woman has brilliantly established her innocence in her resignation letter. She has resigned honourably, something so rare in this part of the world. God bless her more. Let's be clear on this: she cannot be charged for forgery because she didn't forged the exemption certificate nor presented it knowing that it was not genuine. She innocently presented the same certicate to Ogun State legislature as far back as 2011 and was cleared to serve as finance commissioner. Again, in 2015, DSS cleared the same certifcate for her to be appointed minister. Where is the woman's fault or Buhari's offence here? God bless you more Kemi. Altho you were born, schooled and raised in UK you chose to come and serve your fatherland and you served diligently. You deserve a national award - where many will steal and loot you served honestly. You are known to be a bornagain, I urge you not to take offence with people who belong to the same faith as you but are wickedly calling for your head because of political or ethnic sentiments - they are all fake.

From all the posts so far, that Kemi is so loved by very many is not in doubt.

But the law of the land has been breached and there ought to be consequences:

1. Kemi admitted vide her emotional-ladden letter that she relied on what she thought were 'trusted associates' to procure the now discredited certificate. This is a big issue. She will be tasked by court and prosecution to produce the associates. And if the associates fail to admit the crime, hmmmmmmm......

2. This scandal has exposed an even bigger scandal - what verification does DSS carry out before clearing a candidate for public office? Who in DSS cleared Kemi? How did the Ogun State House of Assembly not detect this problem? These are the pertinent questions. In saner societies, a full-blown enquiry will be opened on this. It's not just about Kemi and the forgery.

But typical of us (shìt hole), expect the matter to be swept under the carpet any moment. What a national Shame!

At the bolded.

Does it mean that if someone gets your cert for you the cert is fake?

Answer this question...

I know why I'm asking the question.

Why would someone get your cert for you in the first place?

Atlest nysc gives cert to owners and not by proxy except via a written letter by the owner stating such, hence someone collected your cert on your behalf doesn't make it fake.

Don't mind them bros - the woman is absolutely innocent and she did the right thing by resigning. The hypocrites posting all the trash against her would have stayed put in office if they were the one by manipulating ethnic and religious sentiments. I was also once a victim of official forgery by FRSC. I went to their office to renew my driver's licence some years ago. When this licence expired after 2 years I went back to the same office for another renewal and they said the licence issued by them was fake! Ha, nigeria! I believe Kemi Adeosun 100% and I am in no doubt that she was a victim of fraud. Btw, why would she forge a certificate she is entitled to as of right. The woman's innocence is further reinforced by the fact that she has had the certificate since 2011, cleared by Ogun State legislature, and by Dss in 2015 for ministerial appointment. Having been cleared, how would she have known that the cert was not genuine? The woman has served her fatherland and no one is accusing her of stealing public money. Buhari should also be commended for accepting her honourable resignation - he could have retained her and call the bluff of her traducers and still win a re-election if that's the Will of God.

I'm of the view that Nysc should be investigated and those guys involved should be dealt with.

I sympathize with Kemi.

For someone that was stepping her feet on the soil of Nigeria for the first time at age 34 definitely she wouldn't know anything.

She would rely on friends and associates, and she wouldn't know that "this is Naija"

No doubt she was scamed.

However, if I were Adeosun, I will seek for mobilization for the next batch of orientation and go through it.

I said this because she's still young, 51, and her future is bright.

She has prospect with World Bank, IMF, other international financial institutions.

My dear sister, you have done the honourable thing to do at this stage.

We're proud of your performance and we wish you well in your future endeavors.

No plausible explanation there. People like us with foreign born kids know better.

She obtained her first Nigerian passport at 34. But she did not acquire Nigerian citizenship at 34.
She did at birth through at least one of her parents.

At least her parents would have known that. If she didn't know, then she wasn't at all interested in Nigeria, beside family holiday, up till age of 34!

Fact is she didn't envisage coming to Nigeria or getting the opportunities Wale Edun and others later gave her in Nigeria when she graduated around age 21 or 22 back then.

Someone who is supposedly of the caliber of finance minister could not ensure her exemption certificate was genuine. How can she ensure that companies bidding for huge govt contracts from her ministry are not parading Oluwole documents as proof of incorporation, tax clearance and evidence of track record in the industry? shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked

Those who pushed her forward only quickly organised a high grade Oluwole exemption certificate for her. They didn't think anybody will check. And she got away with it for so long.

If narcotics were found in your possession at the airport, will the argument (without proof) that somebody else put it in your bag free you from the crime? NO SIR, IT WON'T! Let us not use tribalism to tell ourselves lies or defend the indefensible.

I have often advised diaspora born kids to consider NYSC in 9ja. Especially the final year medics/dentists that mill around.

But most point to safety/security concerns why their parents are against it.

The path to citizenship for those born and raised abroad has not always been as clear as your opening sentence implies.
I know many foreign-born Nigerians over a certain age who once had to invent fictitious places of birth, in Nigeria, just to obtain a Nigerian passport. It is of course true that the application process is less opaque now, and that people like you would not have to lie on behalf of your children unless you absolutely want to. But those of us of us who grew up in a particular era know this has not always the case.

I have never been a supporter of Kemi Adeosun, because I have always considered her inadequately qualified for the job she took on.
But I also know well enough not to conflate my personal biases with my grasp of what once obtained with Nigeria's naturalization and immigration service.
