OP,
Take that money to a media house and let them place an announcement for the money.

Forget some of the BS suggestions on this thread. How do you know someone did not capture you with a smartphone video cam?

Omo see manner... Just pay your tithe from it, give some to the needy and put the rest in your business since there's no info on how to contact the owner but before spending please try and visit that spot and wait for like a week or two...you just might run into the rightful owner... SMH I'm just imagining how terrible the person that misplaced the money is feeling right now... For this Buhari govt... sad

Tithe is 10% of ur earning, not 10% of the money u picked on the road.

I will suggest you go to a radio station nearest to you to lay complaint. Don't disclose the actual amount or denominations. The owner will find you. You can call the radio station instead if going there physically. Use a phone number you don't use often. Also drop same phone number for actual owner of the money to call you back with proof of ownership.

Could be a kid who lost it.

Just can't imagine the pain whoever has that money is going.

Pls keep this money with you for at least 6 months without spending it, while you stylishly search for the true owner.

Don't announce just listen out there for anyone that might lost it. Tho I believe the owner might have given up the search since.

That way you can be justified that you did attempt to return the money.

Good evening here and happy Friday.

I am student of one of the University here at ilorin and i am into fabric business to help myself

Yesterday, as i was coming back from school; a customer ordered for a fabric and i went to delivered it to her so on my way back home, it's already like 6pm.

I decided to branch at a friend house who stay around the area i went to delivered the fabric but unfortunately, I couldn't meet her at home and her number was not reachable so i decided to trek abit maybe we would meet on the road as the time is around 6:30pm and she isn't the type who stay out for long.

After i pass like 3 buildings to her house, I saw a transparent black nylon near the road (it has almost felt inside the gutter) so i passed it and my instincts told me that was a money from the way it look, I went back to check what was inside the nylon and was so surprised to see a bundle of money wrap together.

I picked it up and waited for like 30minutes in that spot to see if anyone will pass claiming he or she was looking for lost money. After like 30minutes; no one show signs of searching for any lost money.

it's already getting late around 7pm, so i took bike to my house .

Getting home, I opened the nylon and counted the money and it was 106,000

I was feeling somehow and thinking of the condition the person would be because the money look like that of those traders based on the way it was wrapped together so i left my house early in the morning today to that same spot maybe the person might appear or i would see anyone talking about lost money but everyone were busy with their business so i left back home with the money.

The reason why i created this thread is to hear your advice on what to do with the money because part of me is telling me to give the needy the money , another part of me is telling me to use the money on my business and also get a small phone from it because the one i am using presently isn't that good and i need some cash for my business as well.

Please i will really appreciate your suggestions

You have to be careful, you have your picture attached to your profile on a faceless forum and you are saying you picked money. Do you know if your neighbor who is a criminal is on nairaland?

You have a good heart and it's people like you that bad things happen to, mind how you post your personal stuff all over the Internet.

My advice would be to tell a radio station you picked a significant amount of money and have them announce it. Take your picture out from you nairaland profile and be more careful on the internet.

yes, I wanted to do this but i was told i will pay for the announcement.
Even If you do, dnt mention the amount....

Just say "1000 naira notes wrapped in a black nylon" so the rightful owner will have to mention the right amount...

***If possible edit the amount in your earlier post

Funny enough now you have revealed all information about the money it would be quite impossible to find the real owner. What you pulled wasn't a smart move and the mod that moved this to frontpage should have edited your post.

Someone who isn't the original owner can claim the money with all the information you posted. You could have done better, it's all good sha. You have a nice heart.

Remove your pix from your profile,I don't think you will find the rightful owner again now that you made it public. As a student of higher institution, I expect you to have visit the nearest radio station but I can assure you that if you do now a criminal somewhere will claim the money.
