currentprice:
if u have trust in insurance sector then continental insurance is a good bargain at current price with the numbers available before me the stock is selling at a discount of 55%.
but if i am insurance person i would rather go for AIICO which is currently selling at over 200% discount Note, AIICO is planing to raise cash so be careful on their H1 numbers grin grin grin grin
Continental Re is a good insurance stock which should be selling at nothing less than N2 and it consistently pay yearly dividend.
In fact it should take its place among the best 3 insurance stocks on the Exchange but I think its not sentimentally favoured and it doesnt have active MM I suppose.
It"s movement is unpredictable. One supplier might just come and crash the price just like that. Similar scenario happened last week.

I noticed it.

Question..
What accounts for revenue increase for Continental reinsure? I ask because it insures the insurance coys and I want to believe rates are more or less fixed.

Yeah. For two consecutive years now, they declared 14k, a dividend higher than what FCMB or even Fidelity declared, yet it wasnt patronize as such. You can only see buyers queing up at lower prices..... below 1.40.
However, I think its a stock any dividend lover should have in his/her portfolio and besides, it doesnt shed price as such during bear period.
They have subsidiaries in other countries which generates good revenue for them. So as a group, they make good profits yearly.

https://www.businesspost.ng/2018/10/14/court-orders-seplat-chairman-to-pay-diamond-bank-skye-bank-114m/

Not a great news for SEPLAT... so shareholders should do well to watch that space.
Though the court order was specifically directed to the chairman (the accused) who is also a core stakeholder of the company, $114M is quite a lot of money to cause a scare. Should this have an impact on the share price, then contrarian investors should watch this space.

I recall I have since done an analysis on the coy in the past here.
...SEPLAT is a BUY by all ramification as its MoS to intrinsic valuation presently shows a great untapped VALUE behind the price !!
Adjusting for any immediate risk, the company's current true value should be NO less than N1,080.
...that's a near 72% discount from Friday's closure price of N630 !!
Again, keep an EYE on it.

DISCLOSURE: I presently do NOT hold a single unit in SEPLAT PETROLEUM, but will be open to keying in as soon as our alligned strategy and time is right.

DISCLAIMER: NOT to be interpreted as a buy or sell recommendation !!

Apparently, someone is either not been honest or do not have a practical understanding of what it means to be in a debt crisis.

U can NOT lay claim to be managing well ur debt burden, when ur current debt to GDP ratio, and worse still ur debt to REVENUE has been worsening with no visible positive impact on the real sector of the economy !!
U can NOT claim to have a working debt profile when a greater % (over 40%) of ur total debt burden is been utilized with funding CONSUMPTION !!
U can NOT assume that ur debt burden is well managed when less than 20% of ur total debt spend on consumption has gone to PRODUCTION, less on key infrastructural spend and even much less on the core drivable sectors of the economy. (like education).

This guys are high on something. Someone should pls remind them that the current so-called stable fiscal policy stance has NOT managed to reflect on the larger economy. They are also not seen the current u-turn on the ease of the country's inflation.
Someone, somewhere, really needs to start viewing things as broad as they are wide.

It is well !!

"Director-General of Nigeria’s Debt Management Office (DMO), Ms Patience Oniha, has allayed fears of some observers that the country was already in a debt crisis.

However, the debt office boss admitted that the nation was not generating enough revenue to fund some critical operations, but stressed that Nigeria was still capable of servicing her debts.

Ms Oniha, in a chat with newsmen on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group summit in Indonesia, noted that efforts were being done to avert a debt crisis in the Africa’s largest economy."

Will these people ever run their private affairs like they run Nigeria? NO!
REASON: NO CONSEQUENCES BUT GAIN TO THEIR POCKETS.
Nigeria is indeed a farm yard for these people.

The real issue is with the areas where more of these cost (debt) has been aligned to.
In principle, an increasing debt even above acceptable threshold is NOT bad. ...as long as it's been properly utilized.
There has to to be a workable structure in place to neutralize any impact from the cost of funding debt.
Japan has the world's highest debt to GDP ratio, but is about the most SOLVENT and financially effective country/economy in the world !! ...that's because they have a workable structure in place !!
Nigeria needs to as a matter of urgency become more proactive in aligning the core of these debts with funding production, infrastructural spend (capex) and the key drivable sectors of the economy. ...this is the only way to have a fiscal policy in place that can reflect positively on the larger economy. That is the only way to get our economy working again !!

The problem is with the dumb leaders and economic managers/advisers we have in place today.

May God continue to be with us !!
